Personal one.... sterilisation....

Just out of interest would they do it on a NHS at 27? I have been asking for ages, am now 32, and they keep saying no as I haven't had any children. It doesn't matter how many times I explain I don't want them, they seem to think they know better than me

I didn't even get that far, my mum pursuaded me not to go ahead before I even got to discussing it with the doctor:)

Old thread I know, but only just found it. So thought I would post a quick reply.

The op itself was not a problem - as others have said it is done same day, using a laparoscope, so just 2 tiny incisions to heal. Although they kept me in overnight as I always have a bad reaction to anaestetic. I know of one person who has had it done without a general - think she had an epidural. But there are risks with that too.

For those trying to get a sterilisation when no kids. It is possible - just very difficult.

What you need to do is convince your GP to help you find a sympathetic gynaecologist - and there are some around and your GP should know who they are. And both you and your partner will probably have to go for counselling to make sure you are sane !!!
