Pregnancy and Baby Advice Thread: From Conception to Birth, and Beyond!

Girls Have any of you given your little ones this? <img src="http://www.minimins.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=154497"/> Says on the box it should taste like orange. There's a slight hint of orange but I just licked some off my finger and all I can taste is iron. Is it supposed to be that strong?!

No she's never had any vitamins bar the healthy start ones that did actually taste of banana. She hasn't had them for a while tbh but might start again now we are heading into winter xx

I got a bit on my hand and it smells like blood! Think I might have a dose of it and see if it really does taste that strong or if it's me imagining it. Just thought after his cold this week it might be a good idea to get him on some xx

Hi ladies x

Bit of a pointless question about ovulation, but did any of you experience pain with it?! lol x

I'm ovulating for the first time since having Amelia (off the pill now :) ) and it really hurts?! Is more achey on my right side (very low down) but I never experienced pain when ttc for Amelia x

Pointless question really, just wondered :) x

Hope you are all well xxx

Yes I got it a few times after, really made me catch my breath! It's posh name is mittelschmerz and it affects quite a few people (20%) I remember rightly. Number of causes but none harmful. Good news is it often a temporary thing. Exciting times ahead! Xx

Ladies, I dont know if any of you have tried these? They are currently £1 a bag in sainsburys and Abigail loves them. Has this one tonight and we tried the cheese and tomato one a few days ago. No added nasties/preservatives and they heat in 40secs! Fab for a starving toddler who is screaming her head off. I think they are tasty too!

Cai, i didn't know if you would be interested but I checked the ones I'd got and the mild curry one (which I admit we haven't tried yet so don't know how spicy) doesn't have dairy in but the others do because of cheese.

Just a thought if anyone is interested!

Ooh thanks for this. May give them a try x

Shot in the dark but has any of you girls had an episiotomy? Prob not but worth a try, im in agony with mine it's the most terrible pain next to labour, been trying to sit in cold bath then dab it dry and air it out but it's agony, I think it might take 6 weeks to heal I can't even sit up either as I have a fluid leak in my spinal fluid from the epidural so been on bed rest since Wednesday if I go to the toilet I get the worst migrane unless I lay back down, can't even look after my baby :( I had a rough time, but my baby is so worth it x

Oh no hun. Yes I did but I was lucky and it healed very well. Have you tried a bath with milk and lavender in it? That's what I was told to do. Weird I know but it helped. Has anyone looked at it to make sure it isn't infected? If you're in that much pain I would go to a&e or ring 111. Hope you feel better very soon x

It's only been 4 days so I am gonna be in pain I know but just can't win I'm on bed rest and then also got pain from there, and then ontop my milk came in last night :( how long did it take for yours to heal and what did you do? Midwife looked earlier said it was fine and oh took a pic and I looked and it doesn't look infected or red just looks horrible :( I got some savelon that was thinking putting a few drops in a warm bath every other day? I just don't want to aggravate and dry it out with salt water and things like that I was told to just pour warm water in it when I go toilet then pat it dry, even that is impossible x

I was lucky that mine didn't hurt but then I was on antibiotics for infection I got during birth so maybe that helped healing or pain relief? I just had baths each day with some lavender drops and milk in it then
Patted it dry. Going to the loo didn't hurt thankfully.

I don't know about the savalon. Have you tried arnica? That's meant to help healing.

Really hope it helps a bit x

Sorry to hear you're struggling. I had one and mine caused a few issues but it did settle down after a week or so. Day 4-5 is the worst as all the nerves are on fire then but it should start to improve in the next day or 2. Are you taking any painkillers?
Re your bed rest/epidural, are you in hops or at home? And have the anaesthetists seen you? They can do a blood patch which will help with te headache. Xx

Hi i had one, its been 2 and half weeks and still hurts but sounds like your in more pain then i was at that point, it throbs and aches , it is making me miserable at times but have to remember not to over do it. I expressed my milk just as it was more pain to deal with and expressing felt ace! now i don't have any left which is a shame as it really seamed to help baba fill her nappy.

Maybe go back and ask for different pain killers hopefully theres something they can do for you? It doesn't sound like much fun for you but hang in there you've got many years to look after your baby its only a short time in comparison x

Im on co-dramol which I said to the midwife is there anything stronger I can take she said these are strong anyway.,, I do need something stronger but I'm just taking these every 4 hours, with the epidural he hit my nerve causing me to twitch so I've got a puncture causing excruciating neck ad head pain, I've had a blood patch and it didn't work so I'm just laying in bed at home I was at hospital for 5 days, I had forecept delivery as he wouldn't come out natrually so not sure wether that made the different to how deep they cut me? I'm supposed to be drinking loads of coffee and water for the headaches but going to the toilet is agony so I'm just stuck :( I'm so lucky I've got oh and mum to look after baby and me as I just can't sit up to feed him or change him or anything, I've been crying as I'm so upset this has happened to me, just want to feel better at least with the spinal then I can deal with the agony down below, oh girls this is awful :( x

I wish I could advise what to do to make it better. I think if you are suffering that much then you need stronger painkillers and/or Dr needs to check both the spinal and epi to see if they can do anything. X

This sounds so hard for you :-( really hope it starts to improve. Sending lots of hugs xxxx
