Pregnancy and Slimming World

I beleive so, I think you have to give her a sample everytime.

Grumble - I'm with you on the pee pots!! I tend to pee into a disposible cup and carefully pour in when I'm at home... but you can't exactly do that if you're in hospital or the docs!!

It's got to be a good thing you've got a specialist midwife, hopefully she'll give you plenty of support through your pregnancy journey!
You had your booking in appointment early, mine was after my dating scan!!

Does anyone know if you need to give a sample at your 20 week scan? I'm not seeing my midwife while I'm there, so wasn't sure...

Hi Curvygirl,

Good luck TTC.
I know everyone did something different... but I used a calendar/tracker on my ipod to track my periods and most fertile days, and just made sure we had sex every 2-3 days for my most fertile 2 weeks of the month if that makes sense.

I did buy ovulation sticks but had my positive test before I had chance to use them!

yeah thats great i am goin to do that this month altho some calenders r givin me diff dates for fertile dates so i duno which ones to go by?? :/ my period is literally just finishing and it came on 1st of may and my cycle was 21 days this month (it varies between 21-25 days)

how long did it take u to conceive?congrats by the way :D

Thanks,

I was going to do a sample in the morning, but I'm in work in the morning as my appointment isn't until 2, and tbh I don't really fancy carrying a tube of wee around in my handbag all day!!

Think I'll just do one in the hospital when I'm there if I need to. It actually says on my letter not to consciously drink more water for a full bladder. Good job really, I drunk so much for my dating scan I was nearly dying on the bumpy bus ride, and ended up having to empty my bladder mid scan as she said it was obscuring the baby ha ha !!

So relieved this afternoon, my friend in work had to go in today for an early scan as she had some bleeding, and everything is fine, she said her baby was wriggling around and she's been dated 9+3. So happy for her as I'd been thinking of her all afternoon

It got a bit messy in the toilet!

I am glad in a way i'll get extra support, but i just don't want to be treated as a freak :(

Is it early? I'm so new to all of this pregnancy lark...i have my dating scan in 6ish weeks (i'll be 13+3) i thought that was late?

hi everyone hope everything is ok

Grumble ......poor you are you being sick or just can't face anything? I'm the opposite lol feel very sick sometimes but then have to eat loads to feel better!!!!! Trying hard to be good, have no aversions yet either.

xxx

Not yet been sick (touch wood!) Just feel like i've got a perm. hangover!! I do feel better when i eat but all i want to eat is beige foods!!! I'm really struggling with eating well. The midwife said not to worry too much and that i should focus on sw in the 2nd & 3rd tri when i start to feel better :)

Grumble not a freak, I have to see a consultant, CPN, social services and psychtratic pregnancy nurse - your not along, or I am a freak too ;)

I am very very familiar with that permanent hangover feeling - had it constantly at the beginning, started to ease around 14 weeks but doesn't stop me feeling wrecked when I'm tired.

I think different areas and hospitals are different in how they do things... My dating scan was at 10+6 which I thought was quite early... Who knows!???

It's a horrible feeling eh!? i hope mine doesn't stay around until 14weeks! eeek! Just lazing on the sofa thinking of eating something at the mo! Might have to be toast again! I bought some ready cooked veggie sausages the other day so i can just nibble on them when i fancy :)

10+6 seems really early...but then i suppose they have to fit everyone in. I'm not too worried mine is a little later, they may be able to get a better scan if it's later :)
Did you find out what you're having at that scan or is it the later 20wk scan?

I was told today, i could choose if i wanted the bloods taken to test for down's etc...not sure i would yet? How bout everyone else?

this morning sickness is depressing.. its lasting day and night!! thank god my husband is back tonight im so exited to see him :D

Curvey -Good luck TTC

Aisling - Hope you feel better soon

Grumble - I didn't start SW till I was abt 16-18weeks. By then everything settled down and meant I could focus. Ive since the gained a little and maintained.

I had the downs test and it was nice to receive a letter saying all is ok.

Sarah - Id say 10weeks is early but I guess its different for different hospitals.

It's the 20 week scan when they can tell you the gender - we're not though, we're keeping it a surprise!

We made a decision not to have the downs test, but it's a personal choice completely, and something only you can decide

I think i might join back at sw when i settle down- i've not be for 3 weeks & it's our lovely leaders last day today! I can't face telling a complete stranger (stand in) i'm pregnant then when a perm. one turns up telling them too! Maybe after i've seen the midwife next i'll ask about the form then- i have an appointment at 16wks

That's brill news about the test :) I bet that was a weight off your mind!

Oooo you're strong, i think i will deffo want to know :)

I think i'll have to discuss the blood test with my OH, i know some people have the test, then if it is positive for D.S they abort :( This would never happen in our case, so maybe we'll just leave the test? I've heard the tests can be wrong (as in being told your baby does have D.S and they turn out that they don't) so i suppose it could add more pressure & stress on the pregnancy.

No test is every conclusive. The blood test for AFP is a risk factor and not a definitive test, from there you decide if you want the amniocentesis or not.

Dating scans can be done any time beween 10- 14 weeks.

Our midwife clinics have wee cardboard cups that have a spout that you can use for pouring into the pee containers or midwives just dip them directly at the hospital.

Had a massive argument with my mum today in the middle of lunch. I thought things were clear about the buying stuff for the baby, I'd asked her to wait 4 weeks until we could go out together and she's just completely disregarded everything I've said and went behind my back and bought everything anyway.

I was so angry I had to try really hard not to just get up and leave her in the middle of the restaurant, turn around and go home.

Trying to explain to her that yes, I know its her first grandchild, and she's excited, but it's OUR firts baby and we're excited too. We're getting completely frozen out of the process and none of the stuff she's buying is what I want. Or she can afford.

I phoned my brother and she's been buying and sneaking stuff in the house. Apparently she was telling him about this really expensive thing (typical man fashion he didn't listen) but it ONLY comes in pink or blue. So she has it READY for when the baby comes, she'll just buy BOTH and take one back.

I'm sick of it. Really stressed with the whole thing. I told her she was ruining my pregnancy (bit strong handed but I'm getting really frustrated with the whole thing) and I'm getting really stressed.

Husband also suggested the whole writing a letter thing, but she's dyslexic and doesn't pick up on written tone well, or would tend to interpret tone and meaning where there isn't any.

I've had enough..

I won't be doing a down syndrome test - if it has it then I accept it and me and my OH deal with it - I will still love my baby just as much as I know from my own personal experience what it is like when parents despise you cause of your disability, no way on this earth will I make my child feel like that!!!
