S&S without ketosis..

Just curious if there's anyone out there whose followed the S&S plan without worrying too much about ketosis?

As in, have you been drinking things like squash which is not allowed? and if so, then how have your losses been?

It's not the food part of this diet I'm concerned about, it's more so not being able to drink squash or a diet red bull etc..

I'm not a huge fan of plain water, and I don't like the slim and save water flavourings which I've also tried.. I just feel that if I could drink sugar free squash then it'd be the one thing that'd keep me on track! But apparently it's disallowed...

And if the reason for no squash allowed is that it contains carbs and sugars.. then I know some brands are very low in both, like under a gram per 100ml.. so couldn't I just track my squash intake as well as my packs to ensure I keep below the carb allowance?

It's really up to you. Some people are more carb intolerant than others a tiny drop of squash might not affect you. The only real way you'll know is if you try. You'll get pretty much the same losses but you'll probably be very hungry

Thanks for your reply. I've tried slim and save & Cambridge before and found I couldn't stick to either for more than a few days because I don't like plain water.. but even something as silly as some squash would help me keep on track.

Give it a go - I think its the citric acid which isn't allowed in squash, because in some people it can apparently cause stalls/ slow weight loss. Mind you, when I did Exante last year I drank Aldi own brand coke zero the whole time, thinking it didn't have citric acid in, and it turned out it did! Lost a stone a month so didnt do me any harm! So try it, if you're still starving after the first week, and don't lose as much as you expect. it might be that it doesn't suit you!
Good luck

Usually I'd just think oh sod it and I'd drink squash if I wanted.. but I wanted to do it properly this time as I've wasted so much money in the past by starting and stopping different VLCD's.

There are a few drinks out there that you can have

There's a few flavours of Ribena that font contain citric acid, and there's also the slim and save water flavourings to help if you don't like water!

I drank all sugar free drinks including no added sugar squash, diet coke, diet red bull, 7-up free, fanta zero... Anything. I lost about 4 stone in 4 months and remained in ketosis. Everybody is different.

I personally don't worry about citric acid and my losses have always been fine. That said though, I know I'm not sensitive to it or having a slightly higher amount of carbs, some people are. If you're kicked out of ketosis it won't affect your losses like starlight said, you'll just stay hungry.
