Secret to shaping up

Hi peeps - well managed to get measured this morning and overall its a 4cm loss. Not as much as previous but I think its realistic now seeing as I'm just 6lbs away from goal. Also I have noticed that in general stuff is toning up. I had a pair of size 14 jeans which I was using as a measure. Just about a month back I could finally get them on and do them up and be comfortable in them. I put them on last night and they are now getting a bit loose! That suits me just fine. I'm keeping Kron as a yardstick in my mind. She was 9.5 stone but a size 6-8 because she was all toned and muscular. So will continue with the bells but will probably not bother measuring after each session as I will be able to see the progress in my clothes. Does that make sense? :) Will post a full breakdown on the results thread later.

By the way - major, major DOMS in my arms today!

Well done on your new measurements. Any reduction has to be good. Dont you just love the fact that clothes are starting to look better on you. I do. Why is it though that in the sales when you are a size 20 everything is 12 and 14 and now I am a 14 everything is 18 and 20!
Kron was my inspiration for starting kettlebells but for me a size 6 or 8 is an unrealistic pipe dream! Not sure I even want to go there.

Empathize with the DOMS. I got away lightly with week 5 resistance but the cardio did it for my back and butt! Ouch.

Hi Daisy - always the way with sales!

Yep there's no way I would ever be (or want to be) a 6-8, but I think its a good example as although she was 9.5 stone and at the upper end of the BMI range as her nurse kindly pointed out to her (!), by sticking with the bells she was decreasing her overall size. I do hope she's ok. I hate it that she seems to have dropped off the planet and none of us can get in touch with her to she if she's alright.

Way to go Catlover Sue!

And Kron, we hope you're ok? We miss you!

Hi, anyone remember me? Not been around for a while, as I felt I needed a break from the bells. Basically I was going to the gym coming home and doing KW, quick shower then out the get my youngest from playgroup and I felt like I was on a bit of a hamster wheel with it, if that makes sense.

Another change is that I had my gym programme redone a couple of weeks ago. The guy who did it is well into his weights and I said how much I enjoyed resistance training, so he decided to really push me! So I was aching enough after my gym sessions and couldn't contemplate doing KW!

I'm going to try to get back into it this week tho. Glad to see everyones still doing well here xx

Hi Splodergill, great that you've stayed on the wagon; you've kept really busy with other exercise -so it's all good! Welcome back :)

Oooh.... (sweating & puffing), just done KW Cardio with my brand new 10kg bell. Man, it was tough! Ok I only did the 1st set with it, had to swap down to 7.5kg for 2nd set. Now I appreciate my 7.5kg!!!

PS: couldn't find the DVD remote control so had to do Wk1 Cardio (you know the reputation wk 1 cardio has for being the most challenging!!) :D

Hi Trash

Good to see you have climbed back in the saddle! Not sure how I feel about Ryan dating anyone else though. Obviously not exclusive but he makes me feel so good I will have to accept it on his terms!

I will also be going back to week 1 next week with my new 5 kg bell ( hopefully).

Hey hey peeps. Loving your new beast Trimlee! Looks like mine.

Doing another 3 sessions back to back to get myself on track after my few days away. So week 1 Cardio yesterday and just finished week 1 Core. Not too bad so far although my arms are aching a bit.

Had a good trip down the road for shopping. Never been able to shop in Gap before. Came away with two tops in MEDIUM!! :D

What size weights do you use, how many different exercises do you do? Thanks in advance

Hiya I started with a 5kg, then a 7.5, now an 8kg although some exercises I need the 5kg. Have a 10kg but don't dare use it :)
Checkout the kettlebell thread for some online workouts x

Hi Daisy, I started with the 5 lb (about 2kg!) bell that came with the KW DVD set. In a few days I realised it would not do much so I bought a 5kg bell from TESCO. After completing about one and a half rounds, I felt I wanted a bit more of a challenge. Ooh that was a hard switch - lots of puffing and panting with the 7.5kg bell (from TESCO as well). I had to swap down mid-workout for a long time with that. I still get out of breath and palpitations and have to pause the DVD when using the 7.5kg.
Why 10kg now? Wanted to challenge myself, up my fitness levels and shift some weight! Also got inspired by the lovely strong young lady on myomytv.com who uses up to 24kg bells!! :D
Not to talk of Kron (miss you Kron!) on here -and Donzy & Sue I think, who use heavier bells (might have mixed the names up...)

I will probably have to alternate the 7.5 and 10kg bells for a while, but pleased I am!

PS: DOMS is probably coming now :D :D

Hey Sue, I hope to be hot on your heels into the likes of GAP soon! Thanks for being inspirational -and yay for the bells!!

Hi All - well that's Week 1 completed in back to back sessions so I'm now back on track ready to start Week 2 on Sunday as usual. The thought that kept me going was putting all my new clothes away this afternoon! Now a 14 or 16 depending where I shop - god damn my huge gazongas - although a good surprise there as well. Have now gone down to a 34GG - I appreciate that's still big but I was a 38H to start with. So my boob journey has gone from 38H down to 36HH down to 34GG - totally missing out the 34J and 34H which would have been expected. Delighted with that.

It's funny really cause there are folk featured in the WW magazine who are about my age, my height and lost about the same amount of weight as me and apparently they are size 10s. If only I could get my boobs down a bit more and maybe use one of those bacon slicer thingies to take off the excess skin on my belly I could be a size 10 as well - yeah right! Me thinks there's some air-brushing and fibs going on in the WW mag!! :D

Catch you all later. xx

Hi All - quiet here at the mo. Hopefully folk are on their hols and having a good time?

Week 2 Core done this morning all with my 10kg. One of my favourite sessions that one. Got a new measuring device yesterday - a pair of brand new Falmers Kickflare jeans from the charity shop for the bargain price of £3. In a SIZE 12! I can get them on if I lie down on the bed but my muffin top is more like a bakers window which is not nice. So going to use these as my measure for the next month or so. :)

Catch you all later - Back to work tomorrow for me after a fortnight off. Boooooooooo.

Hi I'm here and kicking. No hols for me yet. I plan to join the big boys today with my new bruiser bell Thug ( weighing in at a mighty 8kg) it will make fairy cake (4kg) seem like a walk in the park or should I say "swing in the park". I was due to start earlier in the week but we have had visitors over the weekend and I didn't want the embarrassment of crawling around on my hands and knees. That will no doubt come later.

Will report back this evening
