Setanti's Progress - Year 2

I'm going to start running again on Monday for no other reason than I enjoy it and miss it quite a lot. :D

I'll be starting at around week 6 on the C25K program and should be up to 5K three times a week soon.

It will coincide with my weights days and I think that will put me firmly in the 'moderately active' category. :)

I had some fresh whipped cream last night, thus increasing my fat intake.

Today I didn't feel the need for the mid-morning snack.

Feeling comfortably full after chicken salad. :)

Hoping it works for you Steve - my weight has gone up by a kilo this week for no apparent reason - hoping it goes away again! Not done anything different in fact I was much more controlled at the weekend than I usually am - typical eh?

Well it didn't come from me! :D

No more talk of calories after this, I promise! :p

I've been talking to a personal trainer in an unofficial capacity and he reckons that the exercise I'm doing already is high intensity and he put me in the moderately active category despite me growing callouses on my arse all day.

My basal metabolic rate for my age, height and weight is 2240.65. I have to multiply it by 1.55 (moderately active rate) to get my daily calories needed to maintain = 3473. To lose more than 1lb a week I need to reduce by at least 500 and not more than 1000. This leaves 2500 which was going to be my intuitive guess for next week.

Isn't it funny that I was using the upper range before, and not losing 'cos I would've been at maintenance level. Also I've been on more than 500 less than the minimum all week, possibly explaining the drop then subsequent levelling!

I can smell victory. Bring it on! :D

Steve, i really empathise for you. You must feel totally gutted, even having cut out the booze!

Please hold out till tuesday so i can cross my fingers more. I really can't understand why you arent losing weight or inches.

You are really active, i consider myself active and i think you do way more than me. I can only assume this could be a reason but i have no idea why. In other diets they say excerise increases weight loss but i've never found that!

Totally routing for some loss on Tuesday, if you don't get it then you have to do wat you think is best for you.

PS, GL on the running. I love it too, better start training for the great south run, its only next month. My first race ever!

Thanks Zim, and congrats on being brave enough to do a big run race. Show them carb-addled loons how it's done! :)

I can't wait for the first post-run high again, it's a real rush and makes all the sweat worthwhile! :D

glad you have a plan steve and you really do your research doing a lot of running (well its running for me ) dowb the gym and pushing myself harder each time can say i enjoy it to much tbh but could be because I have no running form, my breathing is awfull and have a style akin to a charging bull elephant rather than a gazelle :)

PMSL. You want to get a clockwork yorkie. The little bugger drags at the start then unwinds & trots non-stop. Man on a mission :D
He's especially fast in the direction of the pub ;)

:D that is so funny, I have a lazy bugger in tow - he will run off the lead as much as he can but put him on the lead and no go - he hates running!

Just had to post this before I set off for work... :bliss:

Went for my first run in months this morning. I started at week 6 of the C25K program as I thought I could bypass the early stages and still have a bit of a challenge. It's about 60% running, 40% walking at this point. :)

I jogged up my first long hill and rounded the corner to the hospital. I just drew alongside the car park when I got my first "Walk!" instruction. I thought, you know what? I don't feel like stopping. So I didn't.

I ignored the rest of the "Walk!" instructions for the rest of the route as well and just ran. ALL THE WAY ROUND! Forrest Gump stylee. :D

The first day is the hardest, so I'm really looking forward to Wednesday now! :D

:thankyou:Thankyou C25K app, AC/DC, Motorhead, Led Zep, Metallica, Dr Atkins and all you wonderfully supportive people! :gen126:

nice work i find the first 10 mins running is by far the worse after that its just mind over matter

Glad to see you got back in it with ease Steve. Don't you just feel great after a good run? I love it.

Gonna have a look at this c25k thingy.

Thanks Zim. It's prob'ly not much use to you at your level, but they do a 'bridge to 10K' that might appeal more, using the same training principles.

I'll be soon stepping up myself at this rate! :D

Andy, you need to get off the treadmill and hit the road, mate!

I found I could run for miles and miles on a treadmill but got quite a rude awakening when I tried it for the first few times outside. There's wind resistance and different surfaces to challenge you more. Lots more to look at too! ;)

It's a totally different experience, especially first thing in the morning when everything's quiet and still! :)

Morning Steve, how was your weekend mate.

Morning Jim. It was fantastic thanks mate, see a few posts back and check the weigh-in thread! :D

I saw it thanks, it looks like you had a long stall there mate.

How did you get on Steve? I take it your sticking with us? x
