Setanti's Progress - Year 2

Yes thanks, 4.2lbs off at last! :) x

Brilliant... you so deserve it & well done for keeping the faith. xx

Glad to see other runners here - I'm doing a half marathon in 2 weeks time - I used to run a fair bit, but entered this in July to get me active again, thinking I would be walking it.

Once I got started it was actually easier to jog than walk that fast! I'm very very slow - more like a walk/jog really, but I'm so proud of my progress in only a few weeks.

Did my last big run (I think) before the race, on Friday - all 12.7 miles of it and I didn't walk once. :D

Oh and Steve, so chuffed for your weight loss - I've been reading here for a couple of weeks and willing it to come off for you!

:talk017:

YEY for Steve, so glad the scale finally moved for you!!

I'm a morning runner to, do you eat anything b4 you run??

Waterworks, doy ou plan to do your 1/2 mara whilst in ketosis? If so what food do you eat before hand to keep you fueled??

Yes, deffo will be in ketosis Zim. Because I'm still (sort of) on lipotrim VLCD, I just take half a shake before I go out. TBH I think not getting more carbs into me is what is making me run so so so slowly at the minute - I feel like I put the foot down and there's no gas in the tank IYKWIM, but weight loss, not speed is the goal for now! Don't care if I finish last, I just want the tee shirt. ;) Not even sure if I'll drink the energy drinks on the day, atm I just take water with me.

How long is your run?

Thanks Zim and Waterworks! :)

I don't eat before I go out, I'm asleep 15 mins before I hit the road! :D

I just down a pint of water and off I go. :)

When the nights draw in a bit more I might switch to running in the evenings so I'll have a whole days' food inside me.

I'm working on the principle of really believing in ketosis, and that I should have enough fuel from fat conversion for longer distances when the time comes. I've seen a few posts on running forums that support this despite fierce opposition from others.

Obviously somehting will have to change when I lose more weight, but I'll happily cross that bridge when I get there! :)

Ditto, exactly how i do it:)

I do know what you mean Water, when im eating carbs i feel like i can run forever, however i feel my body has got used to using fat as energy.

I gonna have to try and trust it too. Prolly have a high fat brekkie like tuna with lots of mayo and maybe some nuts and a shake before i run.

Steve i am thinking of moving onto the road soonish just aware as my knees are not the best want to lose a little more weight and push upto a fitness level i am happy with before looking at getting into new life long habits to sort myself out like road running

Morning all

Be careful guys, after running 4 - 5 miles a day during most of my Army career, plus squash daily, Rugby twice a week my joints are F*cked. You have only so many miles in your joints, don't use them up needlessly. Oh an do NOT run with a bergen full of wet sand, that makes it even worse.

Really appreciate the concern and advice thanks, Jim! :)

Thing is, it's difficult not to look forward to exercise once you start, against all the odds, to like it!

I can't see me becoming a career runner in this lifetime, and my main and preferred exercise is light cardio and now high-intensity weights. The latter has the advantage of strengthening joints.

Oh, and don't worry. I keep my bergen full of sand dry all the time thanks to the lead lining! :D

LOL, and at least you are doing it in proper footwear, not bloody army boots.

Aldershot or Tidworth is that? and yes it's a daily occurrence. :)

Luckily I was never posted there love. Thank God. LOL

Mine are the same Jim, lol. Fast walking is the way for me nowadays :)

I got roped into helping a mate move out of his house yesterday evening, so I missed the P90 workout but I certainly got plenty of exercise! He lives/d in a bungalow, but there are dozens of steep steps from the road level to his garden!

A few hours into the proceedings we'd just dropped another load of his furniture into storage and we got the call that someone had been to the chippy for everyone. Time was, that would've been torture but it didn't bother me. Man, was I ready for my cheeseburger pie when I got home at 10.30 though! :D

A combination of the enthusiastic run on Monday and all the lifting up and down stairs has left my legs a bit tired this morning so I'll be running either this evening or tomorrow morning instead. :)
