Thought it would be a good idea to start a thread where you add your weekly slimming world shopping items, so that we can all see what each other buy etc, might give us new ideas for things to try or ask about and will be useful for newbies perhaps on necessities to buy when starting out.

I did a massive post christmas shop today, as we popped to the US, so I had a big sort out of my fridge, freezer and cupboards as well as my herb drawer lol and now it is all stocked to the brim with nice healthy stuff for me to make some yummy sw foods over the coming weeks.

Anyway my shopping list for this week was as follows:

Fruit/Veg

Pink Lady apples (my fav)

Celery
Carrots
Courgettes
Aubergine
Red Onions
Rutabunga (like a swede)

1 pack of whole wheat english muffins (again 57g each and allowed as a HEb here in Canada)

Meats

Extra Lean Lamb Mince
Skinned Chicken thighs
Turkey Bacon
(I always make sure freezer is stocked up with portions of meat to take out when needed, so already have, stewing beef, pork chops, beef mince and chicken breasts in freezer)

Parmesan
(all of which can be used as a HEa)
0% Greek Yoghurt

Luckily I didnt need much of these items this week, as my cupboard is stocked with whole wheat pasta/rices and pulses, spices etc

But I did get:

Baked Beans
Chick Peas
Hot curry powder
Raisin Bran cereal (can be used as a HEb)
low calorie hot chocolate (25 calories a sachet)

Freezer

I was surprised to find Quorn today, so bought some Quorn mince, as it will come in handy for some green days.

Bag of frozen mixed veg
Haagen Daz blueberry and cranberry sorbet (100 calories for 1/2 cup)

Snacks

100 calorie chocolate pretzels (5 syns)
100 calorie sweet and salty popcorn (5 syns)
onion rings snacks (7 syns for 20 rings)

I tend to drink mostly water nowadays, so you will notice we didnt buy any pop or other type drinks etc.

That was our shop for this week. Looking forward to making a nice big pot of healthy stew tomorrow and also am going to make some sweet potato hummus.

This is a fantastic idea Britmum, and even rumbletummy taking pics is great! I love to drool over food pics lol. On youtube there's this lady in America who does a "haul" video of all the yummy fresh food she buys. I'm all for taking pics of our groceries!

I'm just getting into the swing of weekly shopping as I've been a daily shopper until now, and with Chritmas and all I couldn't really plan a proper grocery shop. Since Christmas we've been eating leftovers and DH and I are off to NYC tomorrow so I won't have a proper list until we get back next week. Really looking forward to it.

Thanks for the great thread Britmum, I've really enjoyed looking at people's lists!!

Ive not done a weekly shop this week because we are still packed with food, both our freezers are full of SW goodies ... mainly meat and quorn really. I have been out today and got some bargains ... Asda are doing the bags of Quorn chicken pieces for £1 instead of £1.99 so i got some of them because the kids eat this as well. I also picked up some parsnips really cheap so i made a lovely spicy parsnip soup for tea. Once Ive done my weekly shop... I will list my list!!!

Not a big shop for me but here goes:-

I've just seen mushrooms on someones list & realised I've forgotten them along with carrots:cool:

I also bought other stuff which I won't eat but the rest will, such as fishfingers, muller rice etc.

Yep taking pics too is a great idea. I actually thought of that after I had packed it all away. One thing I love about living in Canada is my huge larder cupboard for storing things away. I only had a tiny little cupboard back in the UK. Lol

Have been running the cupboards and freezer down so it is gonna be an expensive one. Looking forward to some of the scrummy meals I will make with this lot, especially the spicy butternut squash soup!:D

Obviously I know what im planning to make with all that I buy but can people come up with meal ideas from everyones shopping lists just by looking at the food bought? Not recipies, just the finished meals

This week I bought:

Fruit/Veg

Lettuce
2kg of tomatoes
cucumber
onions (white and red)
spring onions
Melon
Blueberries
Grapes
Pineapple
Pears
Tinned grapefruit (Non S/W/Synable)

Got 3 loaves of Burgen Soya Linseed (Non S/W/Synable) (?)

Misc/naughty off plan foods:
1 jar peanut butter
1 jar Jam
1 jar salsa
1 packet biscuits (for Morning sickness)
Blue Dragon Stir fry sauce (2 pouches)

So not exactly a SW list in its entirety but I'm not on plan at the moment and finding it hard to plan for what I do want due to nausea and being picky. It's still a fairly healthyish list

Staples in the cupboard are:
Frozen veggies
Pasta
Rice
Noodles
Beans, both baked and dried
stock cubes
chickpea dahl tinned

Trying to eat less meat/lighter this week and work way through cupboard but I have such cravings for fruit and salad. I dont really want anything else.

keep this lists coming :)

I tried the persimmon fruit I bought last night (never had it before)

They are really nice. Look a bit like a tomato when you slice it, but tastes quite similar to a mango I thought.

You can get different sorts though, so not sure they all taste the same. I had the hachiya variety.

Hi Britmum..............just being nosey, but why do you go over to the US to buy your food?
Also, looking at everyones lists, they are all very similar food items lol !

I live close to the US border. I don't go every week to the US to buy my food lol.

We do a shop there about once a month, mainly to stock up on foods you can't get in Canada and to pop to places like Trader Joes and Whole Foods which I love.
