Smoked mackerel

Hi guys

I let Mr B do this shopping today (putz) and I asked for fish - for a dinner in the week. I did think that he would choose cod or haddock or some other sort of RAW fish, but we have smoked mackerel... NOW the tricky bit. Anyone got any good recipes??? and what are the syns???

Thanks :D

Basic smoked mackerel - 100g - 2 syns on Red and EE, 16 syns on green

Smoked and peppered mackerel - 100g - 1 1/2 on Red and EE, 15 1/2 on Green

That's the figures for 'Basic.' Different supermarkets have slightly different figures on syns online.

I must admit I have only ever had it with salad and new potatoes, although I do like horseradish sauce with it. Somewhere on here there is a recipe for a soup topped with Harissa Mackerel. I think it was from 'Honeyoc'

My husband does a great pasta dish with smoked mackerel. He flakes the mackerel and adds it with ground black pepper and chopped parsley to the cooked pasta with plenty of lemon juice and a splash of Tabasco sauce. Its not entirely syn free as he adds a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil, but it is absolutely delish. One of my favourite dinners. x
