Just a passing thought...

Again and again we read and we are told it's about 'getting our heads in the right place'. To be honest after almost an entire lifetime so far of dieting in one form or another I don't think it has anything to do with my head.

My head NEVER wants to overeat. My head has fantastic willpower, vision, drive, etc. My head KNOWS what to eat and what not to eat, and when. My head also knows that to deviate from my plan, regardless of what that plan may be, will spell disaster.

It is my body, my tum that aches for food, my palate that craves more than simple clean basic fare. My head is the smart one that tries again and again to stop me!

It is my appetite, habit, cravings etc, that lead me to cheat.

I think our poor heads take an unfair beating. My body all too often ignores my long suffering psyche! When my hand wants to reach for that bikkie or cake, or that forkful of the delicious forbidden, my head can scream blue murder and yet STILL be overcome.

Ah, well!
 
we are all in the same boat i have been so good then sat gave into burger and few chips and hate myself for it but we are only human
am trying my best to be extra good this week as dont want to fall bak down the carb road, good luck keep up good work
 
Yes lala, and the thing to remember is that Atkins is a lifestyle change not just a diet. We go on diets, and off them. Atkins is a whole new way of eating and living but we don't change 100% overnight. We learn to modify and improve our food intake over time.

At first Atkins is bliss cos we can eat!! Pretty soon tho we are desperately craving the old carbs we used to rely on to get us through the day. This is when the going gets really tough.

Sticking with it is the only advice that works!

Hm. My body never craves carbs. A real physical craving (as seen in pregnancy) can be a hint that your body is missing something it needs - carbs don't have any essential nutrients and whole societies live or have lived on almost none, so our body doesn't need them, over the small amount of veg we get which is there for nutritional and comfort reasons.

My body hates carbs. It gets bloated and achy when I eat carbs. Carbs can give me loo problems. My body functions far better on a low carb diet.

My palette likes carbs - we're programmed to find sugar and especially fat & sugar (and pasta with cheese is in that bracket) tasty precisely because if makes us put on weight and a long time ago we needed to store what we could. Nowadays it just makes us fat.

Habit, cravings, and hunger that is not a genuine need of the body are all in the head. Hence my head needs to be in the right place to reason with itself that none of these things are essential and that I'd rather go without something that will taste nice for 5 minutes but will slow my weight loss, than be miserable and fat for an extra week.

My hand absolutely cannot put something in my mouth without my head both telling it to and letting it.
 
Have just made my first ever mim. It was delicious. Made it with the cinnamon and had a little double cream with it too. Very nice. Must admit to being slightly full.

Must experiment with flavours now!

Wiffy is good, in a very odd way.
Im good. On day 12 I think, Ive so much energy but the scales havent done anything. WI on thursday so we will have to see.

Hows the water drinking going? I forgot yesterday and boy do I have a bad head today. That will teach me

Just made a mim burger bun. Delicious. Feel really full now.
