Taz's diary - Need to do this!

...because he's 'not in the right mood!'

...that's his excuse every week. all we hear is my legs hurt, i feel like s***, this is wrong, that's wrong, i'm out of breathe when i walk, etc, etc, etc. most of it would be improved if he shifted some weight - but he's in total denile and says it's all health related. some of it is, but certainly not to the degree that he makes out.

i know, but me and mum get so wound up as don't want to see him back in hospital, but he's going the right way about it. he has a heart condition and he nearly died last year (pulled through at a 7% survival rate) ...we thought this may spur him on but it hasn't. he talks the talk, but won't even attempt to walk the walk!!!

my dad gets jealous and a little spiteful! it's only because he needs to lose weight himself, but can't bring himself to do it. he knows SW works because he lost 3.5 stones on it before. a few years ago he got pnuemonia which made him lose loads of weight, but then started binge eating to put some back on, as he thought there was something wrong with him! now he's taken it too far and is around 18 stone! he also has type 2 diabetes and is feeling rather sorry for himself. instead of changing his diet he sits and moans about not being able to eat white bread and chocolate... and is now eating more of these things than ever before. to the point where i want to grab the food and throw it in the bin!

dad does all the cooking, as mum works and he's retired. when mum did SW 2007/08 he used to make her quorn bolognaise and tell her it was free, but would put oil in it. i could see there was oil in it and i would confront him over it...he would then say there's not enough in there to count it!!! then i'd tell mum to put it down as sins! lol ...he even used to buy her fish and chips from the chippy! she still lost 3 stone! lol

Sounds similar to my mum, she is in denial, she was told to lose weight to have an op, as dangerous to put her under, she tried for like a whole day, about 3 different diets, now she has gone back to doctor and insisted they put her under, but asked if they will do a gastric band whilst there, seeing as she in danger anyway......

If only it was that simple! My friend is waiting for banding at the moment and there are so many hoops to jump through to get it. I doubt they will let her have one without making more than a days effort.

That must be so frustrating for you to see your Dad like that. I bet you just want to give him a bloody great big shake!

sometimes i want to knock him out! lol

i walked through the kitchen the other day and he was frying potato fritters (large slices of potato dipped in batter)...i had a sudden urge to throw it all in the bin! but i didn't!

...it looks like i may have to tug on his heart strings and cry to make him feel guilty! knowing my dad that will work!

The old tricks are the best lol!! Crying still works on my dad!! Now I've got a daughter I can see her using the same tricks on her dad and she's only 4 lol!!

Grrr, I have to have some blood tests that are timed to specific days of my cycle. My doc told me that it is easy to get an appointment with the nurse so I don't have to worry about booking in advance. I phoned them up this morning and they told me that they are taking bookings for a month ahead at the moment cus one of the nurses is off and they are fully booked! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr now I have to wait another month and hope I get an appointment next month! Grrrrrrrrrrrr

Karen - get crying as you're obv worried about your dad and if the tears will work! (they'd work on my dad too!)

Taz - do you mind me asking how much your friend (whos going through getting the band process) weighs? (sorry - if its not your place to say) its just that Im interested as I never contemplated surgery as a form of weight loss, although I know Id not tried anything else and I presume its oftens one of the last resorts for people who have tried and been unsuccessful with other diets isnt it. Has she tried other diets? xx

Sorry hun, it's not my place to disclose her weight! She is a member of the forum so it wouldn't be fair of me to do that. It is a last resort really, it's by no means an easy option.

No problemo xxx
