The Wedding Dress Thread

I said my sister could have free reign on what the bridesmaids would wear.. What a nightmare! I should have set some ground rules!

We eventually found a dress that suited her and luckily it suited my step daughter too, I originally wanted pale pink but my sister is very pale so it wouldn't suit her, we went for a green which would match pink flowers, in the photos though the dresses look grey.

As for flower girls dress, she was 9 at the time, wanted to be in ivory and not the same as the others, went to BHS and Debenhams and bought ages 9, 10, 11, 12 none fitted! Tried age 13, 14, 15 & 16.. They didn't fit and they didn't come bigger then that, was starting to panic, happened to go on eBay and they had a wedding dress in a size 12, quickly called my SIL she said an adult size 12 should fit her, ordered it, thankfully it did and then I had a matching ribbon the same colour as the other bridesmaids sewn onto it.

I have just discovered that Christian Loubitan did a limited edition blue soled wedding shoe
Something Blue Sole Bridal Shoes

Really wish i didnt know this, no shoe willever match up to them now!

Not that i could afford them anyway, unless i dont feed my guests...or have any guests....
it could just be me and my shoes....

My bouquet was going to be made out of sea shells. I made a pomander for my niece and quickly discovered that not only did it qualify as an offensive weapon, even my Dad struggled to carry it for any length of time.

So now i'm back to square one. Handmade ribbon flowers or just your standard flowers? Might do what Flibs did and make up the bouquets myself the night before.

A girl I know made hers out of beads and buttons. Looked amazing. Still see if I can find a pic.

I've been making Organza Flowers for brooches and headdresses, so easy!

These are the first two I made one silver the other White, I've also got gold, and brown and organza in loads of colours.

I'm going to use them to co-ordinate my 'going to the wedding' outfit, I saw someone else had put one on a plain clutch, and another as a fascinator, and tiny small ones on her shoes, looked fab!

They're gorgeous. Clever you. Love that you can customise an entire outfit with them. Lovely.

Really? Thank you so so much, you don't know how much that means, it was my wedding photos that prompted me to lose weight! X

I've had to rule out buttons, brooches, origami and butterflies as all of my friends had them first!!

In fact, it would be "unusual" amongst my group of friends to just have flowers!

Do like the pearls though, might have some of them wired into whatever I have.

I always said I wanted the little fibre optic lights in my flowers a la the end of Bridget Jones but then I changed my mind. I love the idea of diamontes in each rose but I have none on my dress so I've gone for pearls now instead. Might still change my mind about them but think they'll go with my Nan's necklace that I'm wearing.

How about veggies? Artichokes are stunning.

Or veggie carvings, carrot roses etc? You'd have to spray them with varnish to stop them bleeding into your dress mind!

I'm sorry I didn't comment on yours because flicking back yours actually did stand out in my mind, I love the detailing on the front, were you a size 24 in that photo? You looked slimmer than that x

Thank you. In that picture I was a 20/22 as I lost a bit of weight between starting looking and collecting my dress. It had amazing corsetry in it and I was well and truly laced into it! The beading was continued around th back of the corset but the train was completely plain. I wish I could wear it again but it is all boxed up and in the loft.

Nice idea Shirleen but I have a nautical theme

Sorry to be difficult! but I do love the idea :D

Oh my god Jez your wedding sounds perfect! I love anything nautical!! When are you getting married? I hope you'll be putting lots of pictures on here :D

Window pane shells

What about these beauties as your 'doily' with a long stemmed flower of whatever description (made out of blue jeans if you wish) in the middle, sort of like Botticelli's 'Birth of Venus'
