We can do it!

I'm writing this for myself and anyone else who's new and a little scared of the journey we're about to embark on (or just losing willpower). Mostly it's so that if I feel a bit daunted the first week (which I imagine is the hardest) I can come back here and remind myself why I am doing this.

In a week's time : we can be a few lbs lighter, a few lbs healthier and get a rush of delight on the scales.

Don't give up!! Don't have that biscuit just because it's there!! That age old mantra 'nothing tastes as good as skinny feels'!

And in a few months' time we can approach a healthy weight, increasing our health, energy, life expectancy and feel so much better about ourselves! Lets face it no one here is happy with the way they are (unless they are lucky maintainers who have made it, and they know how good it feels!)

NOTE TO SELF: You will NOT be a fat bride. Imagine how much better it will feel to pick the dress that makes you feel the most fabulous, not the least fat. The pictures will be with you forever. You are doing this for your health as well, think of how good it will feel to not be lugging around all the extra weight (around 35 bags of sugar!). PUT DOWN THE CHOCOLATE!!!!!!

Hi Laurzaz, Welcome to this fab forum.

Great that you have decided to get something done about your weight problem but I note, with some reservation, the undertone of failure before you have begun!
The first week is usually a doddle, it's the weeks, nay months, that follow that can turn into a nightmare if you continue in the same vain as you have now... please lighten up and rather than DREAD this journey look on it as an adventure. You will be travelling to a destination of a new and beautiful healthy you...
There will be times when those choc biccies or cream cakes, or whatever else it is you just love, will try to attack you..lol! Enjoy that moment of a treat and get back to the programme you have set for yourself and it will be so much easier to cope with when you are more relaxed about things.
Keep it up and all the very best to you...:)

Hi Emmaline!

Thanks for the advice, I didn't mean it to come across like that, I am really looking forward to it but from past experiences I know that having a little reminder why I'm doing it will really help. It was more written for the pessimist me that is bound to rear its ugly head at some point to look at! I know myself that the first week is make or break for me, once I see the first result of my efforts on the scales it will keep me going happily. The note of failure is more a hark to the past attempts that failed, although I have not felt as sure as I do now that I'm ready to take on the challenge, I am much more convinced I will do it this time. I am totally motivated for this and hope that it is a fun and exciting journey! Thanks again for your advice, I will try not to think any negative thoughts but at least here I have a little reminder if I do.
