Weight gain during period?

Hiya i'm new to this site. Have done SW before but joined again last week. Have been really good this week and done some exercise which I don't normally do and I put on 2lb. So dissapointed and can't figure out where i've gone wrong. Do you think me being on my period has anything to do with it?

Hi Hun, lots of people find they retain fluid at that time of the month and can put on as much as half a stone. Good news is that it goes the following week.

Exercise is also well known for this, particularly if you are new to it or increasing the amount you do, as your muscles retain fluid to help repair the tissues. This can be helped by drinking loads of water and upping your protein intake and should resolve itself over time

But why not pop over to the SW forum and post your food diary so we can take a look and make sure that it is not something to do with what you are eating :)

I am sure you will lose weight. The two most important things to do when you want to lose weight, is to eat healthy and exercise frequently. The only thing standing in your way to lose weight right now is YOUR will to do what it takes. Remember, without any action, you won't see any results.:)

I always gain on period week, pretty much without fail but it does go! In sept I gained 3lbs then lost 7lbs (!) the next week, this month I gained 1lb and lost 5lbs.

I think it's a fairly natural and happens to a lot of us. It will come off, that's the main thing! x
