What can I do to compensate for a slip-up?

I had a slip-up today (details in my blog thing) & I feel terrible about it, but I was thinking that maybe I should miss out my bar for today, or replace it with a shake, or only have half? I really don't want this to effect me.. I feel so sick & guilty about it.

According to caloriecount.com I consumed 20kcals & 3g or carbs. I know that doesn't sound loads & I feel silly for stressing over it but I'm still worried. >:

What do you do after a slip-up? x

Maybe just have half a shake? But then you won't be getting the full amount of nutrients for the day...
It wasn't too much extra, maybe just try not to beat yourself up about it too much and just make sure you don't do it again! I know how you feel though, I heven't cheated yet but all I did was have a dream about cheating and I felt guilty!
Just carry on and I'm sure you'll still lose!

20 cals?? How about going for a ten minute walk to work it off then putting it behind you and continue as normal. That's what I'd do. No point in beating yourself up about it.

If you usually have a bar a day you could swap for an extra shake instead. Bear in mind that it is important to have 3 full products per day on Total Solution to ensure you are getting the required nutrients. No point in being slim and unhealthy.

Thanks gina, you're right. I'm overreacting a bit but I'm just worried in case I can't control myself & end up binging on something really.

Thanks harriet :)

Don't worry about it, doubt it will make any difference
I regularily(ahem)
have an extra half a bar on top of the soup shake and bar
and in each of the last 2 weeks I have lost 4lbs!

Having read your blog, the first thing you can do is put it into perspective!

You may remember I went through a similar thing last week, and once I'd sat back and looked at it objectively I realised that rather than lose control I had actually excercised extreme contol cos I may have started but then I stopped - and so did you! :D

That's the thing to focus on. You haven't killed your diet, you won't be out of ketosis, yes you had a brief weak moment but you overcame it! How good is that? You could have scoffed the whole packet but you didn't.

Use the guilt that you are now feeling as a tool to make sure that you don't get tempted again. Next time there is something in front of you try and remember how you are feeling today and see if you can walk away again.

What you really don't want to do though is to start thinking "phew, I got away with it! I wonder what else I could get away with?" cos trust me that one is a very slippery slope............:(

Hey - just chill!
No big deal. Take one day at a time and think about comparing what you are eating now compared to what you used to eat. I'm sure there's no comparison even with the slip up!

Don't get screwed up about it, just put it behind you and carry on as if it didn't happen.

Very wise words Yambabe that I personally will tell myself lots because I am the type of character who would easily get to the stage of pushing the barriers if given half a chance.

I wouldn't change your pack intake, stick to the programme, keep the routine and the nutrition up. The packs and the nutrition help stop you feeling hungry and help stop you from altering the plan.

Stick with it and enjoy the weight loss.

Millux - you've done well. Learn from you error, and carry on. I too have been foolish. I lost about 14lbs. (I need to lose around 21), then started cheating a little. I now find that I'm doing a day or two and then cheating again. Today, I've decided to get back on track to get the last 10lbs. or so out of the way - otherwise, it is really money down the drain. I'm going to log on for support. Thanks for everyones words of wisdom!

Exactly what TT said. Don't try and compensate, as you're already on subsistence rations as it is. Just have peace in the fact that you're only human (like the rest of us), put it behind you, and move on :)
