What is your motivation?

What is your motivation for losing weight?

I have 2 goals, the first one is my holiday, which is 19 weeks today. I'm going with my husbands family, flying to Barbados on a cruise around the Caribbean. I am determined to not look like a beached whale. Secondly, and most importantly, my husband and I need IVF to have a baby, which we're hoping to do start in the new year. I have my first consultant appointment next Thursday, which will set us some goals and we will have a plan for what we are aiming for and when.

Good luck with your journey! My current motivations are being a maid of honour for my best friend at her wedding next June (she and the other bridesmaids are no bigger than a size 10-12 so really don't want to stand out as the fat one, and I want to be able to love looking at the photos afterwards, not cringe and cry at them) and that I'm hoping to have a holiday abroad next year with a couple of girlfriends (one is about a size 8, the other a healthy looking 12 at a guess) and it'll be the first time I've had a holiday in 4 years so I want to make the most of it and look and feel amazing.

I did write a list of motivations a while ago and it helps me so much to read through them when I'm struggling. I'll post them here because they might help anyone else. Although they're my reasons I think most overweight/obese people can relate :) and it's good to have long term reasons rather than just short term motivations as the longer term reasons will hopefully help with weight maintenance once the short term events have been and gone

That lists rings so true with me - big hugs xx

Wow - rings so true for me too - thank you for posting. Really powerful and honest reasons (got watery eyes now!) - and good to have for when the tougher times hit. :)

For me, i can identify with all of that but ultimately i think my bottom line is that it's to do with health. I owe it to my loved ones to be as healthy as I can be, and live as long a life as I can. Xx

That was like an insight into my mind!!!

This are all the same reasons I have xxx

All totally right for me!

I've never been slim. I would say my main motivation is to be able go into any shop and know that the clothes will fit me.

I've also done soooo many diets over the years and tried and failed. I just want to prove to family and friends (and myself) that I can achieve my goal and actually fight this fat once and for all.

I've also got a friend getting married in Cyprus next year so I want to look good for that too.

week one- 17 1/2 pounds week two- 4 1/2 lbs week three- no weigh in week four- 11 lbs week 5- 5 1/2 lbs week 6- 4 lbs week 7- 1 lb week 8- 10 lbs week 9- 4.5 lbs

My goal is to get back in to me pre pregnancy clothes! I have so many clothes that I want to fit back into!

I also don't want to be the 'fat friend' so when you eat something people don't stare at you as of to say "do you really think you should be eating that!"

I want to buy an amazing dress for Christmas and feel fab in it too!

Buy it now, laura and have it hanging where you can see it every day! Ive got 2 size 12 dresses hanging ovet my stairs!

I had loads and loads of gorgeous summer clothes that I couldn't get into and it was breaking my heart, I refused to buy bigger ones so its been a great motivation for me. I can now get into more than half of them :talk017: and trying them on weekly doesn't half spur me on!

Froggy I'm similar I have so many clothes in size 12-16and when the baggy 176s became too tight I switched to leggings :(

Try things on every few days - managed to where my size 16 bleached denim skinny jeans today :) albeit when I lose more they will be more comfortable but I felt proud getting into them x

I just want to get my confidence back. For so long I've been the fat one, and I just don't want that anymore.

I'm 30 next year, and after spending my 20s struggling with my weight and being the big girl, I refuse to spend my 30s in the same way!

There are so many things on that list that are reasons too xx

What a great post!

Good luck everyone with your journeys and in achieving your goals!

I'm getting married in May next Year and my aim is to be a size 10-12 again and not a size 18-20 bride! Would love to be the same size/weight I was when my other half and I fell in love over 3 Years ago!

Have a holiday coming up in October so would like to be at least half way through my journey & fit into a size 14-16 bikini!

Also, doing this for health reasons, as my mum admits to worrying about me

Ooh and also for the feeling of walking into a clothes shop, being able to try anything on & feeling like I can wear it - oh how I miss that!

Hopefully all these reasons will keep me going! X

My motivation is for myself and oh to adopt a child. My weight is an issue so need to lose as much as possible before our panel date in October. Also would like to be the same weight I was 10 years ago. 7stones lighter! Happy, healthy, able to ride my bicycle easily and enjoy shopping for clothes. Just want to buy something that suits rather than picking from the best of a bad bunch.

Good luck on all of your journeys Peeps:bunnydance::bunnydance::bunnydance::bunnydance::bunnydance::bunnydance::bunnydance::bunnydance::bunnydance::bunnydance::bunnydance::bunnydance::bunnydance::bunnydance::bunnydance:

LOVE this list!

I'm so happy my list rings true with other people! (not that I want anyone else to feel like that but I don't feel alone knowing other people experience the same) And I'm glad it's helped some of you. Feel free to use it for yourselves and maybe tailor it slightly (not everyone plays tennis or aims to wear a uniform dress as opposed to tunic and trousers lol) xx
