Why can't I see it?

#1
I've just seen a friend that I haven't seen since xmas, she hadn't a clue I was on a diet, the first thing she said was "My god, you've lost a hell of a lot of weight!" Which made me feel great! But when I look in the mirror I just can't see it, I still think I look huge :( I know I have shrunk because i'm in jeans 2 sizes smaller than I was when I last saw her... the brain is a funny thing! :sigh:

Aww I wouldnt worry I too havent seen for myself in the mirror ive lost some weight but hubby says he notices it alot so I guess others tend to notice it more maybe cuz we are still in the thoughts of "im fat" or "im still too fat" well I do anyway!

Though I have noticed some clothes are looser on me which feels amazing!!!!
For someone to have said that to you hun then thats a great acheivement.
I bet you look fab!;)

It is lovely when somebody compliments us like that, and it makes you realise you are doing a great thing. But I think we're all the same, we don't see it for ourselves. It's the changes like getting into those smaller sizes that make us reaslise we're getting smaller. I always think my scales are lying to me lol! I haven't lost enough yet this time to notice any different (clothes wise etc) but others are already saying I look slimmer, I just think they're being nice lol! Maybe another stone and I notice something??

Hi Hannah, Firstly i want to congratulate you on moving down two jean sizes !! Also its great isn't it to hear comments but i'm very much the same as you, my mum has said she can see that i have lost but for me i still look in the mirror and wonder if i am because i look exactly the same, even though i have also gone down 1 size in jeans, all i can say is our brains are very strange as you said.

I often wonder that once i am at goal will i still look in the mirror and tell myself " hmmm well i cant see where you have lost it from ". I sometimes feel a little de-motivated because of these thoughts and feelings and like someone posted ( not sure if it was on this thread ) but i do sometimes feel like the scales lie to me. Oh its a strange old word and what's more we are even stranger:8855:

Thanks everyone :) It did make me feel great when she said that...I was smiling for ages! Just wish my eyes and brain would catch up :8855:
I'm having the same problem sass,I am feeling demotivated cos I can't see it :( I think the fact that i've just stood on the scales and i've sts this week isn't helping my mood.... the sensible side of my head is telling me I probably put on at least 2lbs over easter so i've lost that....and i've not had a sts week before so I knew I was due one! But just feeling a bit down at the moment :(

I know its hard,I had 4 weeks of sts even though I hadnt cheated and I felt so miserable and down in the dumps and kept thinking why am I bothering?
But I kept on at it and last week lost 2lbs,I have a feeling im going to be one of those who loses then has a couple weeks of no loss or extra put on.

BUT even through the 4 weeks of no change i did loose inches,I didnt realise at first but I really have felt the change in my clothes being looser even my bra is looser lol

Hi cherry :) I've been the same! feeling loads happier today.... I had to take my wedding ring off months ago, had a cut on my finger and it was stopping it healing, anyway, after it healed I couldn't get my ring back on :( but tried it today and it goes on easily! :D On my other hand my grans engagement ring has been stuck for years  I can get it off now! (not that I want to but I can!!) My bra has gone from being on the last hook, and still digging into me,to being on the smallest hook and being comfy!

Ahh see there are results in other ways thats fab ;)

speaking of rings when I got married in 2000 my wedding ring fitted perfect,as the weight went on it was too small to wear so hubby went and got a new ring for me,
im hoping soon with more loss my first wedding ring will fit (it means more to me that ring cause its the one from our wedding).
