Why do we loose hair on CD?

Hey all!

For the first 2 months of starting CD my hair was glossy and shiny.

About a month ago while showering I had been loosing a lot of hair. I invested in a brilliant shampoo and thankfully the hair loss has come to a halt. :D

I just wondered why this happens on CD? I'd have thought that considering the shakes have all the vitamins and minerals that our body needs, that it would have a positive effect on other things, like hair...

Hi Curly,

Sorry to hear you have been suffering too. It is a pain. Mine has been under control though since using Rejuvx - Hair Loss advice and hair loss treatment: Free Hair loss advice from Rejuvx, the treatment for hair loss

I started off with the starter kit - I didn't want to pay a lot if it didn't work IYSWIM

It works brilliantly for me, and I have recently purchased the shampoo and conditioner to keep me going. Although it is pricey you only need a small blob and it lasts a long time. The starter kit has lasted me 4 weeks, so I expect the proper sized bottles will last 2 months or so.

Hope that helps you lovely.

I'm sure I read on here that the reason for hair loss is because the nutrients you take in go to the organs and things that really need them and your hair gets the left overs!

Just ordered some! Thanks, really hope it works for me. This last week or so I have had major shedding. I love this diet- and to me the hair loss is the only down side, If i can stop it I will!

I lost loads the first time out even had to re style my wedding hair to hide the loss (not funny couple of weeks before wedding day). I was told by my counsellor that while your on the diet your body is just taking in enough calories to function and things that normally happen eg shedding daily dont happen while your on the diet but when you start adding food into the equation your body goes into overdrive and this seemed like a reasonable explanation. Has happened to me again this time but has now stopped as im eating normal again so hopefully will all come back again very soon. Hope this is helpfull.xxx

i have been doing SS for 7 weeks now and have noticed that my hair has now stopped falling out the first few weeks it was falling out. But i am sure it must be stressfull on our bodies doing this and it has to show somewhere i suppose ??
Most hair loss associated with dieting is called "telogen effluvium" (you can google it for more info!). It will most likely be temporary (ie acute) and the hair will grow back.
