Worrying

Yasmine

Ok as some of you know, I've been having an issue mainly with my dad thinking that I'm heading straight to anorexia. I haven't even reach size 12 and he's worrying. But lately he's been putting ideas into my head and I don't think I'll be able to get down to the size that I've been dreaming of.

My dad keeps on telling me, that I'm not fat and that I'm 'big', if he thinks that that makes me feel better about my weight he's wrong, if anything it makes me feel sick with depression.

My mum says I'm 'big boned', does this mean that I am naturally huge?

Are all my efforts in vain? It's making me think that no matter how much weight I shed, I will never be thin, I'll always be ****ing 'big'

I really need advice, and if you could tell me how I can determine what my frame is, I've tried the whole wrist measurement thing, but I'm having my doubts.

Hi Yasmine, can't believe they're being so negative. My parents and all friends and family are being really supportive. It's as if they don't want you to be slim. Why is that do you think? Perhaps if you can figure that out you might get to the bottom of their problem.

Don't give up though, you have done so well. Fight all the negativity. Come on here and get charged up with positivity.

Good luck and keep going. You are doing so well. xx

My mum has no problem with me losing weight, I think my dad just doesn't want to let the fat me go. But it's not about what he wants! jeez.

There is no way I'm quitting, I'm just worried about being big no matter what I do.

Carry on as you have been doing and you wont be big. The weight is coming off briliantly and can't wait to see you at your target.

Do you think your dad just doesn't want to let go of a chubby little daughter and if you are slim he's lost you forever? Maybe he just doesn't want you to grow up and let you go. Just a thought. You know what some dads are like!

That could be the case but he complains when I'm fat and when I'm losing weight, I seriously don't get it.

I know it's hard to do but perhaps you should just try to zone out when he is having a go at you. Try to ignore all the comments he makes. Have you tried asking him why it is whatever you do about your size he isn't happy? Seems to me you can't win with him whatever you do. Bit of a puzzle though.

Awww thats a shame about your dad, i'm sure once it's sunk in that your losing weight he'll realise the health benefits for you. I've been really lucky in the fact that everyone around me has been so supportive and excited that i've lost all this weight....the one person thats really put me off through it though was a woman I met for the first time at a party. I was saying how i'm not sure how thin i'd like to get and she commented and said "oh but you can tell your not supposed to be thin, your amazonian like because you tall and broad shouldered"

That comment made me feel like s**t...I'm not born to be big, people just think i am because i was....so don't let people even family tell you your not supposed to be thin...it is possible.... big boned in my opinion means f**k all

Try telling him that you are doing this for you, and that you would rather he support you, but if he finds he is able to do that then can he please stop giving negative comments as they are affecting you. Parents can make things so much worse, I understand hun I have had weight problems for ages and its always stuck in my mind my dad telling me that I might actually be pretty if I lost some weight.

You think so? I think that women is just jealous because you have a shot at being much more attractive than her and she's worried about that.

Thanks, I am going to keep going, I just wish he'd see things differently. You're weight loss is amazing by the way especially week 12 wow!

Thank you very much.

You know that you're not big boned because you were a size 10. You see, I have never ever ever in my life been slim. I was huge from birth and that's not even an exageration. This is why I'm worrying.

Yes, the only one who really matters in all this is YOU. You're losing weight for the right reasons: because YOU want to. Just carry on and don't let anyone place doubts in your mind.

It can be a shock for people used to seeing you in a particular way when you change drastically. My mum said to me once that she has a friend who lost alot of weight and at first she thought that she'd lost too much and was looking drawn in the face. Until she realised that that was how she was supposed to look and she was now healthy. My mum had been so used to seeing her fuller in the face that it took a while for my mum to get used to her friends new slimline look.

Alot of people used to say to me that I had a large frame and really wasn't that overweight but the reality turned out quite different and people were surprised.

Try to ignore the comments if you can hun, I know it's hard but only we know how we feel inside ourselves and what is right for us.

Hahah thanks Yasmine and yeah I feel amazing after the weight loss its crazy how fast it's happened. I bought a size 12-14 dress the other day and i'm so close to it fastening I cant believe it I never ever thought I could be thin,I have always been a podgy child even at photos from like 5 I was always bigger than my sister...and look at Fern Britton shes a good example of someone who you would think would be classed as big boned....look at her now you could nearly snap her lol
