CornishTT''s weight loss diary

Whatever it takes!
Hi all,

My name is Toni and I have recently started Atkins again Friday 2 Aug 2013. I did it about 9 years ago and was the fittest and healthiest I'd ever been when I was on it. Going to gym 5 days a week, swam 2km a day, and felt fab.

Not only was I slim, at 11st (I'm 5ft8.5) but also felt healthy as before I started I had various symptoms suggesting I have candida overgrowth in my stomach and system (including eczema, thrush, pimples, anemia, sugar and carb addiction, the list goes on).

While on Atkins all these symptoms disappeared and I felt fantastic.

ANYHOW, that was then and since that time I have gained 10st, attributed to having two kids and owning a sweet shop (yes, imagine, a sweet shop, in which you are the owner and own all the sweets, and can eat anything you want!).

So the youngest is now 16 months and the sweet shop was sold over a year ago. I lost about 3 stone since I had by youngest. But my Candida symptoms are back with a vengeance and I have been controlling the eczema with medicated shampoo but I want to rid myself of the symptoms and be slim and healthy for myself.

I know it sounds selfish but as a mother and wife it always feels like I'm doing everything for everyone else and do for myself last.

Well, not this. This is for me and I want to slip on a size 10 again and not think twice about buying clothes or even leaving the house as I don't have anything that fits me!

So here goes, I hope to post on here daily my diary (also using myfitnesspal - user name AtkinsFTW - feel free to friend me on there) and since it is still early days not in ketosis yet but enjoying the not craving food every waking moment. Increased protein n fats def suppressing appetite somewhat.

Also, would love to try bp coffee, sounds amazeballs! Lol

It you're still reading this well done for your staying power, lol, sorry a bit long. Hope you have a good Sunday!

Hi FTW and welcome (or welcome back :)) :wavey:

Love your focus, and yes this is absolutely for you - that slinky dress is not far away!

I know you know the Atkins drill but check out the stickies - there's lots of good stuff there - and look forward to seeing your menus :D

Re: My Atkins diary

Thanks for the encouragement Susie! I love experimenting with food, it's also partly what got me where I am, so recipes will be forthcoming!

I never had it last time but fried haloumi cheese, why did I never think of it before!? Even better with a dash of lemon juice (n count carbs of course!) Salty and lemon (n squeaky!) lol

So, day one of my diary via MFP. What do you think, is it ok? Need to re-read book (cause I had cottage cheese, no no on phase one...)

If you look on to mfp on the Internet you can change your goal percentages, I find it a lot easier to keep track.

Hi and welcome back to atkins. I wouldn't worry too much about the amount of fat you are eating, when you get into ketosis you will probably find you won't eat as much as your appetite will reduce. Good luck.

Good morning and welcome! I enjoyed reading your intro and look even more forward to reading your diary on here. The bp coffee will do you good as it has coconut oil in, depending on how much coconut you can stand in one go apparently build up to 4 tbs per day, have 1 with each meal or 2 in your bp coffee and co is used to rid the stomach of candida that is why people who suffer it feel nauseous when taking the co because its the candida dying off. Good luck!

Re: My Atkins diary

Thanks teeney re percentages, was worried eating too much fat, but as ladyfelsham (thanks for info) saying percentages wrong, I just don't feel like I'm getting full picture as I did last time. To be fair didn't have 2 kids n 2 businesses to run then, lol. One business just finishing up now so hopefully will have more time to re-read all material, just wish it could be like the matrix and all info could be downloaded into my brain in a matter of seconds, lol.

Thanks also re mfp teeney, I did do that (i think), set the percentage but still it focuses on calories. But I think it calculates all carbs and doesn't deduct the fibre?

Sammy, thanks for reassuring me about eating lots, I do remember the desire for food diminished dramatically. Recently, I felt addicted to eating, never enough, couldn't stop snacking, but as of this am I feel more sated.

I was unable to finish breakfast, had mim sliced into 3 with 2 eggs (divided into 3) n 3 bacon rashes, lovely but only managed to eat 2. Also had bpc but used normal oil as my mct N coconut oil not arrived yet.

Goldilukes, thanks for tip re coconut oil and candida. I am also taking caprylic acid which also helps. I have psylum husks in the house which help with fibre and constipation but tbh not needed it yet cause of linseed flour in mim.

Weather horrible and kids going nuts as they just want to go out and burn off their energy, usually I would be munching by now but I'm not ans no desire too! Whoot whoot! Yayayay!

Re: My Atkins diary

So lunch was yummy, iceberg lettuce, cucumber, blue cheese, olive oil, lemon juice, salt n pepper, and only 8g net carbs according to mfp. Eat it quick tho as lemon juice whilts iceberg very quickly!
