My Atkins diary

Lunch looking good x. Does balsamic have tons of sugar in?? Is it a lc one?

Re: My Atkins diary

Today's diary, really proud of myself as we had friends over for dinner (I cooked them Puerto Rican Chicken - too delicious but not Atkins friendly) and I didn't cheat at all! Stuck to my diet guns and feel great for it!

Now enough carbs but not enough protein, as Susie says 55F, 45P, 5C. Will try again tomorrow, just not sure where all the fat is coming from!

LadyF (mind if I call you Susie?)

Of course I don't mind, hun! :)

I tried that courgette pizza, it was AWESOME!

Fabulous! I must try it this weekend mmmm :D

Well done on staying strong last night, it's a really good feeling! And don't worry about getting your fat ratio up - mine usually comes from oil (poured over salad) and mayo - which I love more than life itself :D You can check my %ages out at mfp if you like - I'm ladyfelsham there too :D

Morning Toni?

thanks so much for not only posting your menus but your mfp pics, they are really interesting to me to find out how it works. I tried mfp. While ago but give up because it was too time consuming on top of everything else. My ratios in a good day are all over the place and I've no idea how to get t right. Il be eagerly watching to see if you can crack it! Good luck and hope you are well?

Can I add you too Susie?

Just found this, referenced from the new book. Im willing to try anything to get a proper loss so if sticking to 65/30/5 doesn't do it I will give Susie's ratios a go :)

Re: My Atkins diary

Hi guys! Thanks Susie for the assurance and info (you're a walking Atkins book!! :D)! I'll add you on mfp and see if I can get some inspiration from your diary! Teeney, mind if I add you too? Will look how to do this later, I'm AtkinsFTW on there too.

Goldie, thanks for your lovely comments and glad pics helping. I used to use mfp before for VLCD and got the hang of it then. I think it's more user friendly once you've used it for a while as it remembers your recent food. Also, you can save whole meals (that you may have more than once for quick adding, like bacon, egg, sausage, or whatever) and you can also save recipes (like if you enter in ingredients for MIM but only have half, you can tell it and it will half carbs, fat, everything). It's a great app, and sometimes a pain in the butt (esp when you just wanna sit down n eat) but v powerful tool to keep track!

My mct and coconut oil have arrived today and I can't wait to have a 'proper' bpc! I might just have mct n butter rather than mct n coconut (as per Sadieley (?) experience of coconut being too overpowering).

First weigh in tomorrow, will post diary later and results tomorrow.

Speaking of which, I see there was a weekly weigh in forum, but last post back in April this year, would you guys be interested in starting another one? Just a thought.

Hope you ladies have a lovely day, catch up on your diaries at lunch time, house blitz today then 1 week till it goes on the market! :D

Re: My Atkins diary

This is yesterday's diary. I am feeling like rubbish today, my hands are 'swollen' (puffy feeling I get when I eat lots of carbs) and I haven't even strayed off the diet. I think the problem is I didn't eat much (nearly anything) all day and by dinner time I thought, I'd better eat something to make up my carbs. So I made a courgette pizza and forced it down.

Never mind that my daughter woke me up at 4am and is still awake now watching toy story 2 hence the early post.

So, I went to bed last night at like 7.45 as been getting headaches, been mistaking them for migraines (as painful but go away with ibuprofen and paracetamol) so must be from the diet.

Also, I am just hating every mouthful of meat! I know it's bad as I'm on Atkins but I feel bilious whatever meat I eat. Time to stock up on fish I think.

I think I'm going to skip weigh in today, partly cause I feel so 'swollen' and partly as hubby weighs himself on a Tuesday and I'm going to change mine to be same day as him.

(tmi alert) Also, I think I'll go back to eating my Mims, they were keeping me regular.

Will catch up with your diaries later, have a food day y'all x

Morning hun

Think it sounds to me as if you've got the Atkins flu. This is a sort of flu-like thing that lasts a couple of days when people first start doing induction, it's your body reacting to flushing the carbs out.

I know you probably feel really rotten, the symptoms can be yuck - but try to see it as a good thing, getting rid of those carbs that make you feel so awful. And once it lifts, you will probably get the "buzz" - loads of energy! :)

Drink lots of water, don't eat if you don't feel like it, and try to have some chicken stock in hot water (like a broth) - I don't know why but that always made me feel much better.

Sx

Re: My Atkins diary

Thanks Susie, I think you might be right! I had forgotten this about Atkins and also because I have candida overgrowth it'll be a double whammy as you get similar symptoms from candida die off. Drinking plenty and hoping to flush all the toxins out.

Here's today's diary, would have been ok but went out to dinner at Wagamama's. I know, I KNOW, a noodle bar! But.... I didn't stray from diet, I had salmon miso salad and it was delicious! Ill def have to recreate but with lower carb count. So it took me over 7g carbs, considering I went to a noodle bar, I think it could have been worse :D

So, follows is my diary for the day, I have to say ketosis well and truly kicked in, hardly an appetite and headache not too bad atm.

Another thing, ready for Tuesday (weigh in day) I want to start a weightloss sock. A lady started a thread on here ( http://www.minimins.com/showthread.php?t=301222) n I thought it was a brilliant idea. Get a above the knee sock (or sack in my case) and fill it with the equivalent weight that you have lost. Then each time you want to snack go by the sock, pick it up and feel the weight of what you've lost, a great motivator. I'm going to put some googly eyes on mine so I can pretend it's giving me the evil eye, lol.

Now to catch up with your diaries x
