    Lollycakes' Weight Loss Journey

Hi & thanks! I've got MyFitnessPal on my phone, but I haven't used it very much due to eating pretty much the same thing every day - which sounds totally boring, but it helps me to stick to what I'm supposed to eat, rather than falling into binge eating mode where I'll tell myself I'll eat this...

    Lollycakes' Weight Loss Journey

Thank you! I joined this site a few years ago, back when I was considering the weight loss surgery, but I never really took advantage of the support and advice that was out there. But this time I'm totally going to utilise it. As supportive as the people around me are, they don't understand the...

    Lollycakes' Weight Loss Journey

I hope I'm posting in the right part of the forum! Feel free to tell me to bugger off if I'm not, lol. I suppose I should introduce myself. My name is Laura, I'm 26 and I weigh... well, I have no idea how much I weigh if I'm honest. I'm a size 30/32, and I've estimated my weight to be around...

    Specific diet?

Ah, so there's no one specific diet you're all following? I think I'll stick around because I have *cough*about200lbstolose*cough* and from what I've read, there seems to be quite a few people in a similar position. I just wasn't sure if there was a WeMITT diet I should follow, or if I could...

    Specific diet?

I've scoured the threads, and unless I'm being a bit dim (which is a distinct possibility!) I can't seem to find anything that suggests WeMITT is a specific diet designed for extreme weight loss. Does that mean you're all on your own individual diet plans, with this part of the forum being more...

    Laura's Atkins Diary 2013

Thank you, but I got a call this afternoon to say I didn't get it. I'm a little bummed, but he did say that I was second in the running, and if it falls through with the woman who got the job or something else comes up within the company, he'll give me a call. He also said the other person who...

    Laura's Atkins Diary 2013

I was very, very bad today! I had a job interview to go to (which I'm keeping my fingers firmly crossed for) and I needed to get some change for the bus, so I bought a bottle of water and a Reese's Nutrageous bar. Naughty! It was 28g carbs and 6g protein and all I'd eaten before that was about...

    Laura's Atkins Diary 2013

Yeah, as soon as I started reading in to it, I saw about excess protein turning in to fat and I was like, nope! I know that intermittent fasting works well for many though, so I'm going to try that. It's when you "fast" for 19 hours of the day, and then eat only within a 5 hour window. I'm...

    Laura's Atkins Diary 2013

Since the whole point of this diary is to keep myself accountable, I should probably be honest about the exercise I've done! I did 30 minutes on the seated exerciser this morning like I mentioned previously, but I just couldn't manage three sets on the weights. I did 2 sets/12 reps of bicep...

    Laura's Atkins Diary 2013

As for fat - I think I'm eating enough! I use at least 60g of cheese a day, if not more, as well as using olive oil for cooking & salad dressings, and I eat chicken thighs which are more fatty than breasts and I keep the skin on. And then there's the fat from the cream I use sometimes, although...

    Laura's Atkins Diary 2013

Good advice, thank you! I'll stick with what I'm doing, and reduce my carb intake if/when I need it. As for the carbs from cream, sweetener, etc. I'll start keeping a strict eye on it, although I don't think I've gone over 4g yet. I want to keep my carb intake as low as possible, but I think...

    Laura's Atkins Diary 2013

That's true. :) I'm going to start using their negativity as motivation - to prove them wrong! I also recalculated my carbs for the day using the UK labels on MyFitnessPal, and it went from 21g down to 18g, which I'm pleased with. That said, I calculated tomorrow's carbs, and it comes out...

    Laura's Atkins Diary 2013

I'm definitely feeling more positive today. I'm certain it's down to reintroducing exercise into my life again. It's not hard or vigorous (yet!) but I think it's helping to improve my mood. I don't know how long it will last but I'm enjoying it while I can. :) The one thing I am struggling with...

    Crustless Quiche

It's really good! You can mix it up and add whatever you like - spring onions, asparagus, roasted peppers (check the carb count though!), bacon, ham, different cheeses, etc. But it's a good way to use up leftovers, and it can be eaten hot, warm or cold, and it's pretty study so you could always...

Day 5 Friday 6th September 2013 I wish I'd weighed myself before starting this because I'm almost certain I've lost weight already. Dietary Fibre?

Ah, good advice! I try to choose as many UK label foods as possible, but for certain vegetables I look use the one that lists the serving size I've used (half a cucumber, half a small head of lettuce, 5 tomatoes, etc.) so I think I'll just go by the total carb count and ignore the dietary fibre...

    Dietary Fibre?

I was putting my meal plan for tomorrow in to MyFitnessPal, and when I checked the over all carb amount, it said 20g carbs and 5g dietary fibre. I know that on UK food labels, we don't subtract the fibre from the carb content because it's already done for us, but on the MFP app, would I...

    Whey protein for breakfast?

Protein shakes are good, but be careful about the carb content of them. Some can have only 1-2g carbs, and some can have up 17-20g. They're really aimed at people who exercise a lot, to help repair the damage to muscles after a strenuous work out, which is why the carb content can be high.

    Laura's Atkins Diary 2013

I hope so! :) I've just finished doing another 20 minutes on the pedal exerciser, so if I add that to the 35 mins I did this afternoon, it comes out to almost an hour of light cardio. Today has been a bit of a crappy day. If you're still finding it hard to drink enough water, have you tried buying one of the big bottles and drinking that through the day? Laura's Atkins Diary 2013

That's exactly what I'm going to do. :) I figure if I eat plenty of veggies and my weight loss stalls, it gives me room to switch things up, cut back on some veggies and replace them with some extra protein. If, on the other hand, I can lose weight while eating 25-30g that's even better. I've...

I'm so glad I saw this! It's one of the main things I've been worried about. Eek! Are the bars really that bad? I'm glad I only bought a couple now! aspirin mask/scrub

Hahah! Nah, it only works with aspirin because they contain salicylic acid whereas other painkillers such as paracetamol don't. I'd definitely suggest giving the aspirin thing a go (13p for a pack of 16 in Tesco) but definitely do a patch test first, just to make sure you don't react to it. :)
