Shocked at my change in attitude

After a marvellous week last week I did my old tricks at the weekend and got smashed on Saturday resulting in a handsome 2lbs on for Weigh In day. Lessons learnt- Listen to my head. My head was screaming at me to take the car, drink sugar free Red Bull, tonic and pop. I chose to drink and...

5:2 - Non fast day calories

Stick to the calculator's suggestion to begin with and see if it works. Your two fast days will create a calorie deficit and it's interesting to see how quickly the cals can add up. If you set a limit of 2000 calories and 500 on your fast days you'll be having an average of 1570 cals a day...

are people following 5:2 diet posting in here too?...

I'm fasting today in honour of Pancake Day tomorrow! It's the first year in years I've not been fretting about the calories/points/syns/carbs in pancakes so I'm jolly excited!

Shocked at my change in attitude

Second Week Update - Another 1lb off which I'm happy with as I'm now in the next stone bracket! Woop! I've also lost inches this week. How can I tell? My trousers are doing a London Bridge! Good excuse to go shopping at the weekend!

    Help please

Hovis doorstop white is 156 calories a slice.
  6. Juddd_Judy

    Help please

A thick slice of white bread is just over one hundred calories so a doorstop size I would allow three hundred for two slices.

Shocked at my change in attitude

2.6lbs in my first week which is great as I really haven't felt deprived all week and have done what I've wanted to do. :-)

    newbie needing help please

I get a bit frightened of UDs, too, but I'm using Myfitnesspal to keep track of how many calories I'm eating to keep some control. My first week WI on Monday so I'll be able to see if it's working. Good luck. X

    newbie needing help please

Hello and welcome to Juddding! You would be surprised how much you can have for 1800 calories and it would be interesting to see how far you can make them stretch! I'm sure I've read that DDs are rounded up to 500 cals minimum so perhaps try that instead.

Shocked at my change in attitude

When I was questioned about starting a VLCD I was asked why I don't just eat normally? I, too, realised I didn't know how. Dd, today, got my Exante packs at the ready. Feeling good!
  11. Juddd_Judy

Shocked at my change in attitude

I've only been Juddding for three days after toying with VLCDs and SW for the best part of three years and this is the first time in a long time I've been forced to really focus on my eating and drinking habits. I'm used to not eating much and equally used to eating all I like but I've made a...

    Any men on JUDDD

Hi I've just switched to JUDDD from SnS looking forward to seeing if I can improve my losses and my discipline on this plan.
  13. Juddd_Judy

    Survived my first DD

I think i'm going to do it that way and have a small evening meal as I find it so hard to eat a breakfast and lunch and then not have a meal in the evening. I think it'll take a little time to figure out what works for me.

    JUDDD - Introduce Yourself!!

Hello all I've decided to switch to JUDDD after losing less than I would have liked on similar plans. My plan so far on JUDDD is 2650 cals on UDs and 530 cals on DDs. I've got a lot of Exante and S&S packs so I will have them on DDs to help control my calories. Looking forward to getting to...

    Dispatches

It's best to dismiss it as lazy journalism as you could transpose WeightWatchers for any company. If you don't like WW or it doesn't work for you you are free to go. Anyone would think they were exposing an evil cult the way they were carrying on about their products and groups. I was...
  16. Juddd_Judy

    Dispatches

What a load of anti-WW propaganda this programme is. The fact that the NHS has spent £4m on Weight Watchers since 2007 isn't a bad use of funds but the programme tried to suggest this was too much and I quote "but has it worked?". Has what worked? Trying to help people lose weight by calorie...

    Atkins bars

IIRC Atkins bars are around double the calories of S&S bars (180-250kcal) and are high in sugar alcohols such as Molitol and high in carbs (around 19g) so they would be best avoided on S&S. They taste a bit like Dark Choc Truffa but are 2.5 times the size.
  18. Juddd_Judy

    White wine

Hello, Slinky! As with all packs/powders the rule is each to their own, but in my opinion it tastes more like lemon squash. It's a very nice drink and refreshing and of course there's no citric acid which would be in normal lemon/orange drinks. Give it a go, you only need a tiny bit and it...

    Yet another Newb

Hi Baroness! Great name! Good luck for when you start. Try cutting your carbs down before so it's not such a shock to the system.
  21. Juddd_Judy

    Why so much water?

The reason is that around 70% of regular food is water so you need to supplement your packs with extra fluids. You don't need to drink plain water if you don't like it. You can have cordial, diet pop if it's sugar free and doesn't contain citric acid. You can also have tea and coffee and herbal...

    How do the packs taste?

I agree the Cookies and Cream and Vanilla shakes taste salty to me. Chocolate is the only one I seem to get along with!
  23. Juddd_Judy

    How do the packs taste?

I've had a terrible day pack wise as had the Hazelnut shake which I thought was disgusting, the Mac Cheese which wasn't disgusting but not my thing at all and half a teaspoon of the porridge which made me sick. Pah! Get the sample pack and you'll find your favourites. Chilli is my favourite...

    Protein/veg lunch ideas?

Hi caroline beetroot is not on the official list but similar carbs to mushrooms. I've been reading too many lists! They might add a bit of colour to your salad as well and pickled beetroot will add some flavour reducing the need for extra dressing. x

    need to change my life

Welcome to SW it's so great for restoring control in your life and will help with that "out of control" feeling. I felt the same that my week was an endless cycle of eating and drinking. Coupled with feeling far too big to feel comfortable meant that a controlled plan was the best way forward...

    thortons chocolates

I bought myself some Thorntons chocs and am just having one every now and again as a little treat. If you syn them there's no need to be upset or hurt your losses. That's the good thing about SW you can have anything you like in moderation. I keep mine high up on the kitchen cupboards so...

Something to worry about or fairly normal

Club 10 demotivating with a lot to loose

I got my Club 10 last week after nearly 2 stone loss and it did seem like I'd never get there. 15 weeks and a few ups and downs but it came eventually. I think Club 20 is a great idea but nothing to stop us working that out for ourselves and making a little certificate! X

    Healthy extras and syns

I've never heard this rule about synning portions of Hexes before but I've heard it twice today. I think it's a rumour. The reason we have HEX is to keep our nutrients up such as fibre and calcium. If you only manage half your Hex it's better than nothing so it would be irresponsible of SW to...

I use my HexA on cheese when I get in from work and have a little cheese and ham. Sometimes will grate it and use it with an omelette or to melt on to chicken or bacon. Sucess express..

Yes that's right sorry I forgot to mention that! Higher syns to limit your intake. It's a good plan just try it for a day or two if you're not sure. It's also fantastic if you've got lots of superfree to get through before it goes off! ;-) x
  50. Juddd_Judy

    Sucess express..

You swap 1/3 of your superfree for 2/3rds of your plate. You have to mix it up a bit to stay at it as I got a bit sick of runner beans, but I feel a lot better. You can also have 2 HEXB and 1 or 2 Hexa, as long as 2/3rds of your meals are superfree. You still get your regular syns. Xs

    Compulsive weighing!

    Sooo not impressed with Consultant

Oh dear! Not a great impression of SW but I've had 3 consultants so far and met many more and they're all wonderful so if you're not happy after another few classes just change and keep food optimising. Extra Easy Days How do you get 1/3 in when having meals like curry or chilli?

I know it doesn't go with everything but just a side of grated carrots, cabbage, or some sweetcorn, peas or fry light onions or something is always nice. Just try and get some fruit and veg in but if you can't I think a superfree pud is a brilliant idea!

Has anyone ever found SW scales to be wrong?

My home scales and the SW scales are always different, even if I STS on my home scales I could've had a loss at WI. I'm trying ever so hard not to weigh myself at home but the suspense before WI kills me!

    HIFI Bars

I've often wondered why SW haven't gone down the meals route like WW but it's likely to be a lot cheaper for them to just recommend other company's products. Product launches are also horrendously expensive and they might decide that limiting their range protects their profits.

Is it ok to switch between green/EE/Original midway through the day?

Hi! You can change between the three plans as often as you like but you have to have a night's sleep in between, so you can't start the day on EE and have a Red tea with your extra HEXs. I just stick to EE as I would find it difficult to syn things that are free on EE. Hope this helps. X
