Will this be a new job for you Tan? I always think of specials as being volunteers but I know you want another job. It's community police who get paid isn't it?

Whatever it is - it's something you want so I'm made up for you :):) xx

Yep, it's voluntary Jan. But the specials have all the same powers and uniform and equipment as Regulars but they're just not paid. Its PSCO's the community ones that are paid yep. So a special is bascially an unpaid police officer! hehe

It was my best option considering there are no police regular jobs until 2012 :( :(

Well good luck with it Tan :) - do you still want to go into the prison service eventually? x

Oh my God - this is as good as any soap!! I just read the last couple of pages and was honestly so nervous for you!!! am so delighted to hear you passed!!!! well done missy!!! such an achievement. Also is great for your CV, I know not the same but I was in the RDF in Ireland for couple of years, when I went to my interview for my current job (which has no relevance to the army at all!!) ALL they asked me about was the RDF - and this was for an admin/ management job!. Came number 1 in a panel of 174 - Ill tell you shows interest, discpline, respect for authority, ambition and so on... you know yourself!!

Well done Tanya, I am really delighted for you girl, brilliant news.

I wouldnt mind finding out my body fat, is there an easy way to do it?

Not sure Jan. The prison was my 2nd choice. The police has always been my first priority so :fingerscrossed: when all the spending cuts have happened and come 2012 i can get a full time reg job! Long way off though!

Thanks Mary! :)

Im not sure if there is an easy way to find out. Mine today was done using Harpenden fat calipers. Im guessing you could go to your doc and ask if the nurse or someone is able to do it?

I did one yesterday online where you measured yourself with a tape measure, put it in and it came out at 23% but today, the proper way came out at 31% so i wouldnt trust the online ones.

My bathroom scales tell you body fat, bmi etc - I don't know how accurate they are though - it's a mystery to me how they know! There are plates you have to stand on but how it's measured I've no idea.

Tanya 2012 will be here before you know it!!! xx

I hopes so Jan!!! :)

Just had 2 spoonfulls of the rhubarb crumble i made earlier and a muller light raspberry and cranberry yog.

Dont think i will have chips for tea, think i might just have some toast.

About to order myself some proper running trainers, on the advice of the PTI today! Aim to start running next week. I have to do some exercise i feel like a right frump constantly sitting at home doing nothing.

I have to stop this damn picking too! I am not on holiday any more!!!! grrrr lol

If you're going to take up running seriously and are going to spend a lot on a pair of proper trainers it's worth going to a specialist and get them to analyse your running style. Then the trainers are tailored for you. Around here this is just the cost of the trainers if you buy from them (around £100)
If you're just going to see how you get on with it first I'd get a cheapish pair before making that investment. It's well worth it if it's serious running you end up doing though. My lot might may have finished the marathon and other runs with all kinds of aches and pains but their feet are always fine :):) xx

Yeah Jan. I want to keep up running as its great cardio and will keep me fit. Im guna aim for twice a week to start with and gradually build it up. The trainers im getting at the mo are £42 ... im getting them on the catalogue as money is pretty tight right now but if i was to keep up the running id defo look into getting a decent pair tailored for me. Something to save for :) hehe

Or put on the Christmas list! ;) xx

haha not sure i can wait that long though if im guna be in training for october!!!! :giggle:

The £42 ones will do till then ;) LOL :) xx

Well done Tanya, bet you are made up!!!!

Jan,

I have the same scales and they work by putting a minute electric current through you, which is why they are unsuitable for people with pacemakers. They measure how fast the current goes through and this gives a fat percentage.

What scales do you have Theresa?

Yes Tanya, STOP THE PICKING, the holiday mode is over with now.
Easier said than done though, its just finding that right spot that gives you the clear head again.

I think mine are WW. I had another brand before!
They give weight, BMI, body fat weight, body fat percentage and body water content!!

Aye Mary. Im back to proper work routine tomorrow night and havnt got another full week off until August so all should be ok from here on in :) .... she says ... :p

Well done Tanya on passing the test with flying colours. I really admire your determination to get into the police force. Your experience on the specials will be so valuable to you when you get in fully in 2012. Good for you and well deserved after your huge effort to succeed.
