Absolutely confused, and in need of some advice.

I most definitely will. :)

These tesco bars are proving rather elusive. I have now been to 5 different Tesco outlets and not ONE of them provided the ultraslim bars. What do you guys think I should do? x

R u looking in the vitamin section? X

R u looking in the vitamin section? X

I know this is going to sound preposterous, but what is considered the 'vitamin section'? I looked around all the cereal sections, and general packaged goods. I just came off the phone to Tesco and the man on the other end was searching and said he could not find any store that stocked the bars and he looked ALL around. Errrm... ahha.

It's not near the cereals n stuff, its actually near the beauty n medicine aisles. In the same section as the protein shakes n stuff x

All the tescos around me sell the ultraslim bars.
They are with the slimfast stuff.

Yes, same here. Next to the beauty aisle in the slim fast aisle x

Yes they are located in the Weight loss/medicine sections but mostly in the bigger stores, my local store (4miles away) used to only stock the chocolate flavour but is always sold out so I have to travel 9 miles to the Extra store to get them but even then their not always in stock either.

I went yesterday and got 9 boxes of them but noticed that all the other Ultra slim products were labeled unavailable and their was only a few boxes of bars left.

If you want to search them for online shopping/delivery you have to type it in as one word "Ultraslim" and it will bring it up, if you dont it will not show it up, this even goes for the shops customer services as they often cant find the product if you ask them to look on their system as they type "ultra Slim".

I ordered online (one box) as I wanted to try them first before ordering a large amount. I was concerned that they would substitute it as well. However Tesco have found me the bars FINALLY. :D
I have got to admit, they are INCREDIBLE. My taste buds are so heightened I can virtually distinguish between all of the ingredients, ahhha. I am on my last of the three bars today, and am planning on doing another 'Tesco round' to look for the bars once more, hopefully in the correct place this time. I did quickly pop to my closest store and scoured the medicine/slimfast section but to no prevail (however it was a small store). Thank you so much everyone for all your help. :) x

Good morning everyone.

I am seeking comfort over a problem that has been concerning me slightly since beginning Exante TS. I am so incredibly pale, not the natural 'English rose' pale, but an unwell looking paleness. So much so my entire face has turned an almost green/purple colour (the colour you see underneath eyes when someone has not slept well). Furthermore I have never suffered from dark circles or bags under my eyes but I now have both.

My parents and those around me feel as though even in the few months I have been following this plan I have aged an awful lot (which has really concerned me and upset me quite frankly). Whilst I admittedly have more energy within myself, there is very little else good I can say (bar of course the weight loss). I am always cold, and whilst I understand the reasons for it, i.e extremities are left last after the more important internal organs, surely it should not be happening if I am getting all the nutrients I require from three packets? Exante state that three packs a day are the guideline daily amount of vitamins, however I am DEFINITELY lacking in some, if not most of the vitamins I require.

Personally, due to the fact that it is not going to be a long term solution I am more than happy to continue, even if I am not receiving full vitamins. Nevertheless, my question to you today is, is there any long term effect or damage that could occur? I.e will all the symptoms I have stated above relieve themselves immediately once I re-introduce food, especially the apparent aging?

Let me stress, I personally wish to continue with TS, all I would like to know is if the symptoms one experiences during a vlcd reverse themselves once the person is eating 'healthily'.

Thank you so much for your time everyone. x

Hi Mally,

I haven't posted on this thread before and i've skipped a few, got the jist and read your last one and i just wonder if my experiences might help you a bit.

firstly when i started my weight loss journey I was 23.5 st, i lost a few stone slowly, diet and exerciese over a year then I discovered lighterlife (like exante but with amazing counselling)and dropped 6 st in as many months. By the end of that six months many people told me I looked older/ill/grey etc and I had sagging skin, was always cold and had very low BP (there are some positives coming i promise lol). I started to wonder if i'd made a mistake, should I have continued slowly and now I know the answer is no.

Because you don't get your 'glycogen stores' back (the first thing to go when you stop eating and the reason for the big weight loss in week one) until you reintroduce food then even though you are getting all your vitamins from packs if you follow it properly you will look on the hollow side because the glycogen sits in the layer just under your skin.

So even though i had more energy the symptoms of ketosis (low BP and coldness) and the lack of glycogen stores made me look on the frail side. When I reintroduced food slowly the poor colour and hollow look went away. As did the low BP but I did still feel the cold more than before but it evened out and wasn't as bad as when i was in ketosis i simply had less layers than before.

I kept the weight off (11st) for about 2 years before I had my baby and gained a bit back (i'm 3.5 st heavier than my lightest weight but still 7.5 less then my heaviest) 4 years later. It took about 6 months for the loose skin to settle and readjust. My tummy never went flat but I never expected it to because it was a huge difference and then I had the baby and stretched it out again anyway.

People who didn't know me when I was bigger actually thought I was younger than my age only those who knew me before felt i looked older but i think it's because they had a comparator.

Looking older is a downside of losing weight but that is more because being big makes people look younger because chubbyness is associated with childishness.

And my hair/nails went really healthy and shiny when i started eating again.

I guess i'm just trying to encourage you that these symptoms are temporary but you must take care of yourself too. Make sure you are having all your packs each day to get your vitimins and take it easy because you aren't getting many calories and will tire easily.

I'm aiming to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight but just can't afford LL at the moment so i'm giving exante a go. Only 4 days in so far but taking it one day at a time.

Good luck

Dear Mally,

At 70% of weight lost, Alizonners move onto Phase 2, a Working solution style programme - with a low carb protein meal in the evenings. This has the benefit of giving us time to get used to a portion controlled healthy style evening meal. So whilst you want to do TS, this could be an alternative that addresses your concerns about missing something. It will keep you loosing weight and teach you useful stuff for staying at goal.

I've just moved onto Phase 2 and am still loosing weight. It's a tussle to get used to 120g lean meat or 140g white fish - even though the portion size is satisfying, I've had a lifetime of eating larger portions so my mind doesn't quite agree yet. So it's useful training for maintaining.

Take care of yourself whatever you decide to do,

Smoggii and AliGal thank you so incredibly much. You really have put my mind at peace. I too am considering moving onto 'working solution' however for the time being I am sticking steadfast to TS. I feel like a large weight has just been lifted straight off my shoulders, as I know these are all temporary symptoms which delights me. By the way, does anyone following Exante know if you can progress straight from Total solution onto Simple solution. Or is it important to follow the three stages, and if so how long does one need to stay on each stage (minimum)?

Thanks again x

I feel so incredibly RUBBISH! I transferred from Total Solution to Working solution on Monday morning and have just found out I have gained two pounds. I recognise that there are weeks when one stays the same weight, but I simply cannot justify the gain. Especially considering I have virtually eaten zero carbohydrates within the 400 calorie meal. I have been eating smoked salmon, prawns, chicken, eggs etc. It honestly makes me want to move back to TS and stay on it my entire life as my body just cannot deal with food whatsoever. Hand on heart I have not went even slightly off track, what should I do, go back to TS? :(

Mally:

That's probably the gycogen holding somewater. Btw, smoked salmon is quite high in fat - so have it occassionally and stick to the other proteins and add in white fish. There's probably a specialist Exante thread on this to get more advice. You don 't have your weight stats so hard to advise you.

Take care.

Ali

Thank you AliGal I do hope you are correct. If this is indeed the case, will my weight loss continue in the coming weeks? And with regards to the smoked salmon, I have already stopped eating it as I realised it's high fat content a few days ago (even so I never went over the 400 calorie limit). I am just going to stick with Working solution for another week and if I have gained again GOD FORBID, I am switching right back to TS. xx

Ooops that should have been Glycogen ..not gygogen! Alizonners certainly continue loosing weight - as do others introducing real protein - see Weasey's refeed thread (fabulous!) and BordersGirl. There are also lots of other refeed threads on other vlcd bpoards worth taking a look at.

Sorry to be a pain in the bottom, but as I am rubbish with finding my way around this site, would it be possible to direct me to one of their refeed threads? I have had a look and simply cannot find anything, aaaha. By the way FANTASTIC news, you were completely correct, it must have been water retention as I have lost almost 6 pounds from last weeks weight in (this includes the two pounds I gained) so I am chuffed to bits!

I will most definitely be sticking with Working Solution and will be upping my exercise next week. By the way just a quick question, is there a specific reason or explanation for a puffy - swollen looking face? I have been suffering from it since Working solution and feel it may again be water retention. Moreover, I am getting to the point where I cannot see a jot of difference in my body as the scale drops, why is this? I am not too far away from my goal weight now and I am struggling to see how I am going to look much 'slimmer'. x

Mally - is your goal weight really 8 stone and you are 5 foot 6? That's underweight! I'm the same height, and so am familiar with the weight ranges.

BMI Calculator

With reference to the weight showing, I personally at times seem to lose weight and it doesn't show, and then all of a sudden within a few days I have a 'big shrink' and my clothes suddenly all seem too big.

Please look and think carefully about your goal weight though. There are risks to your health by being underweight, my Mum spent a lot of her younger years being underweight and now suffers from osteoporosis which she has been told is a direct result. Her bones break so easily - last year all she did was stand up from the sofa in the wrong way and she broke 5 bones in her foot and was in a cast for more than 6 months as the bones also take a long time to heal.

You really need to weigh more than 8 stone at 5 foot 6 - please don't take this in the wrong way, I'm only saying it out of concern.

Oh honestly, no offense taken whatsoever. I have been told that 8 stone is underweight by another person on this thread and therefore altered my goal weight to 8 1/2 stone (putting me into the healthy range).

It is interesting that you brought up your mum, as my mum also fell into a ridiculous rut of being underweight for quite a significant chunk of her past, but has luckily not suffered any long term consequences *touch wood*.

I really do hope I suddenly feel the difference, as I cannot pretend to enjoy the rigidity of Exante, although it has served me remarkably well! Thank you so much for your concern, but don't worry too much about me, I have a good head on my shoulders. :)
