Another WeMitt with lots to lose

I can haz cake?
Been a member here for a while, bouncing from different areas... exante, cc, weightwatchers, slimmingworld, and even a wee nosey in CD!!!

So I figured its about time I started a thread in here, I definitely qualify (had just over 100 to lose to get to bmi of 25!) so I thought it would be a good idea to keep track of what I am doing and what diet i'm on in one place.

My start weight was 20 st 4, and i'm currently at 18 st 8...I'm on drugs which are completely buggering up weightloss and making it near on impossible to lose any weight. I've been stuck in the 18s for so long :(

Giving exante a crack for 7 weeks, then will probably opt for calorie counting as its very simple and free (myfitnesspal yay) so here it goes... expect lots of moaning and hopefully lots of celebrating.

Still got about 6 stone to go but im taking it in 2 stone stages. One down 3 to go :)

Hello!
Yup I know what you mean, I've been bouncing back and forth trying different things, hopefully I've settled with this one : )
Good luck with the exante!

thanks guys :)

I'm feeling really great today and not hungry AT ALL. Which is always good. Glugging the water like something shocking.

Had a sneaky weigh in this morning cause I wasn't feeling on good diet form last night, and I've lost a total of 9lbs this week so far... yessss. :)

Aiming to lose 28lbs/2 stone on exante, and i've enough until 11/11/11... 19lbs more to go :)

Well done you:) I am around the same weight as you. So also have a long way to go. I calorie count but I use Weight Loss Resources it costs me about £42 for 6 months but it is great. I have numeric OCD so counting calories is perfect for me. It worked wonders. Not to mention that it calculates my exercise calories. I managed to lose a lot of weight in a short time with it. It is amazing how many calories are in things. But as long as your head is in the right place you can do it. We all can.

Good luck I am sure I will be with you on your losses. I too managed to loss 9 pounds in the last week and half. So it can be done since mine is just down to watching what I am eating.:)

Not sure what exante is but I assume it is either a pill or a liquid diet....I hope that helps give you the results you want:)

All the best

Its a meal replacement liquid diet! I'm doing okay on it but I think I'm distancing myself away from food too much.

Am debating doing a week or even a day of atkins thrown in every now and then to see how I go..

I love calorie counting because its very flexible. Yeah you do have to eat healthy but you can have a naughty day here and there inside your cals. Was doing that before I started exante.

The problem was.. I was grinding myself to dust in the gym, and eating my cals right... but not losing! Basically long story short i'm on life saving potent drugs which cause weight gain... typical.. :(

Its hard when theres such a journey ahead :( Just keep plodding on and hope for the best eh x

Not to sound patronising but you do know you need to eat some of your exercise calories or you don't lose right?

Basically you need to eat your calories all of them PLUS at least half of your exercise cals. Think about it. Say you are on 1200 cals and you exercise and you burn 200-400 cals....then you are only actually having 800-1000 calories and doing that over a week or so your body is going to hang on to everything. You kind of go into a starvaton mode. Which is why you need to eat some. But each person needs to see how much they need to eat. If I all of mine I don't lose. Also I always GAIN when I change my exercise routine up. I gain about 3-4 lbs for about 4-5 days and then it just vanishes. That is all the water that is being retained to help your muscles recover from the damage during exercise. SO I always gain when I change things up. I am currently on 1351 cals per day. Now today I have already burned 534 calories in exercise. If I do that 5 days a week and not eat them I will be 2670 calories in dedicate for the week. WHich is as you can see two days less food, which would make me go into a starvation mode. S0 I generally only allow myself to be -600 for the week. Anything over that I eat. So like tonight, we are having a chicken roast. I am having peas, carrots, broccoli, roasties ( in lard) gravy and yorkshires. Plus my lunch today and snacks and dessert. So I am sooooo not starving!

Calorie counting is great. It is really non restrictive. I have done cambridge in the past and I assume that is the same as what you are doing now. Not only did it make me think more about food even when the actual cravings went away. I realised it wasn't teaching me about food. Portion control have having a better relationship with it. I now live under the premise that a calorie is a calorie no matter how it is consumed. I.e if I have 1351 worth of chocolate or I have healthy food. Whilst the over all benefits of course come from the fruit and veg and that is better. Then body's end result is down the the calories I consume and burn.

I personally like to have something to munch on after dinner. So I always save 200 calories for a dessert. Whether is is a packet of quavers or special K mini breaks, weight watcher stick, fruit with some cream or cheese and crackers. I don't always eat them but I always plan for them. And for me that was the key. I am not making last minute decisions. I plan our meals out weekly so it is better for the shopping because we waste a whole lot less. But it also stops me making quick snap choices when my life is busy enough.

Anyway I will stop now, cuz I talk too much. *LOL* but I really hope you do well. I do think it wouldn't be wise the atkins in the middle of what you are already doing as you won't see what is working and what isn't.

All the best,

Yeah I ate back between 3/4 and all of my calories. I had a week where I ate none of them and put weight on, so I wasn't suffering that again :p

I ate plenty of veg, lots of water, cut down significantly on coke zero and crap like that. Had a protein shake a day to keep my protein levels up for all the workouts. My workouts were varied, between cardio, running, weights, spin cycle, personal training, and walking. I dont drink alcohol very often (because of my diseases and meds) and I don't smoke, and I have minimum caffeinne intake. The only thing I can think of diet wise could be carb related as I used to eat quite a lot of carbs. After all the healthy food I still had a lot of cals to use! (was about 2k a day after exercise)

The drugs I'm on are high dosed immune-suppresants, and my specialist dermatologist did tell me that every single patient on it gains weight. But I'm stuck because i could very well die without the disease under control. I used to lose weight at the drop of a hat and now I struggle to get a pound a month on a conventional diet!

Exante is exactly the same as LL/CD. keto meal replacement. I'm just reading up on atkins, just thinking about it for now, not really actioning anything.

Come to a bit of a stall for the past wee while ON A FREAKING SHAKE DIET lol..

I'm feeling a little more in control... keeping to the simple calorie counting way of things, and trying to eat snacks which are low in carbs... they just fuel my hunger!

Went to ww class to get weighed last week and I was 18 st 7, and yesterday I had my second weigh in at 18 st 3! Woot woot. :)

Woo, another Hannah..just had to comment :D Congrats on your success so far hun, looking like your doing awesome especially with all the barriers of medication to get over.

Another han who likes cats, yay! (going by your avatar pic!)

I've not been caring about my diet over the past week (oops) as my dad was hospitalised last weekend with a heart attack :(

I'm back on it now but I think I probably need to look into going to my doctor... it feels like sometimes I'm almost self medicating depression with food. I'm getting to the stage where I don't even want what I'm eating even before I get near it. I know what damage its doing, but I fear I'm getting a bit OCD in that I'll get into a panic if I can't binge myself stupid... Argh! Everything in my life seems to revolve around food and if I dont have minute control I have NO control... It's either really good or really bad. I don't really like the idea of talking to anyone about it face to face but somethings got to give.. and I can't put the weight back on again!!

First off, sorry to hear about your dad I hope he ok and making a recovery.

By the sounds of it you may be right and need to talk to a pro, no shame in that, I would say if you think you do then you do, Think you need to just pluck it up and speak to someone before it goes to far. What ever you choose I hope it works out.

Hi Han :) found ur diary again! Hope ur ok poppet!!!!!!! Big hugs! What plan are u doing at mo! Xx
