Anyone there to lend support?

#1
Hi there, I've just joined, and the forum seems really friendly.

Is there anyone to support me in losing weight the RC way? I can't get to meetings thanks to job and kids, but I have been in the past, and really enjoyed them. I subscribe to the magasine and use the recipe books.

My approach to weight loss will be eating more healthily, exercising more (which means walking the dog in my case), drinking plenty of water, and getting enough sleep!

I lost weight last year doing this, and felt so much better, but then hassle from my ex-husband, led to me giving up, and of course some of it piled back on. I really cannot end back up at square one, so I've got to turn it around now!

I'm looking forward to finding some like-minded diet buddies on here :).

I know what you mean! I have been doing the diet on my own since I had my baby last sept and have lost half my baby weight (coming off slowly) but I do get inspired by encouragment from other people. I have started a class near my home now and that's mainly cos I like doing the exercise in a class but I still like to come here during the week for encouragment, so maybe we could all help each other. And if anyone has any handy tips to keep the hunger away.....

I do the RC diet and don't go to classes due to a lack of time (and lack of confidence to go there alone!). Although my OH isn't on the diet as such (although he eats what I cook him so dinners are similar!) we both go to the gym together which helps.

Motivation is the key, a long term goal is naturally losing the weight, but short term goals will help, perhaps a meeting with a friend who you want to lose some visible size for etc. For me I just think of what my Mum will tell me every time I see her (every 2-3 months) ie. how much she can see that I've lost. Plus getting married in 11 weeks so that's been a major factor as there will be a lot of photos taken!

As for keeping the hunger pangs at bay, a couple of good solutions are a few almonds and raisins, eaten alone I don't think they feel filling but together they go well and should help to keep the hunger away. Also, of course, try a glass or two of water, in case it's thirst. Or try half a glass to a glass of skimmed or semi skimmed milk, as that will possibly feel a little more filling.

Finally, you can still get british strawberries in the supermarkets. Strawberries are a very low GI fruit and they're strangely quite filling so half a dozen should also help and are nice and healthy (plus taste great when in full season). This, obviously, is only useful for another few weeks or so!

Good luck with your diets :)

Funny how I suddenly fancy strawberries ...! Will have to get some tomorrow.

I'm all for encouraging each other teeny, I don't really have anyone to talk to about my plans, which is why I'm so pleased to have found this site (just wish I'd found it when I really needed it 8 months ago, but better late than never).

Couldn't find your diary mommyb, but will have another search.

Good second day for me, I know that if I can get through tomorrow I'll want to keep going. Good luck with your diet too killashandra.

well done on getting through another day !

onwards and downwards - why not start your own diary thread ? where you can log what you eat each day, how you feel and also your weekly WI - that way you'd be accountable to ALL OF US !! and that should help keep you on track.....

good luck with your weight loss journey - don't forget to keep us posted !!

If I get through the next 24 hours I think I will. I've found mommyb's at last, and agree it would be useful for me to do too. I'm looking forward to the feedback!

Welcome to Minimins Bangle and welcome to the world of RC. I love this diet. Its so uncomplicated compared to other diets.

Take each day at a time; if you 'fall off the wagon' just get back on the next day.

Good luck

Thank you for your welcomes. I know that the RC diet combined with exercise works well, because it has for me in the past. What I need to keep going is my motivation to do it!

I've been using up the contents of my fridge these last couple of days. Apart from the homemade apple & sultana cake (which was delicious, and I had more than I should), it's been healthy stuff. I'm away for the next few days, and I'm won't be worrying about my diet, just trying to eat the right sort of things with only a few treats.

If it seems I've disappeared then, it's not because I have given up - I will be back!

OK, I'm very sorry I didn't get straight back here after my holiday, I've been so busy at work & home that I kept forgetting.

Well, unsurprisingly I didn't lose anything while I was away, but I have lost 4lb since. I've used this as a new starting point for my ticker as it's a nice round figure.

I've got to say that I'm feeling so positive though, just knowing I am taking action again. I also feel healthier (although I know I've got a long way to go, and I'm looking at a long term effort). I like feeling good like this, and that's what's going to keep me going.

Hope everyone else is doing well.

I weighed in on Wednesday (but only found time to get on here now), and I'm pleased to say I've lost 6lbs this week. I must start a proper log in the diary section.

Now I'm back into it, I must say I find the RC method very easy (I'm not too strict about counting the calories, I just apply her principles). I hope to be down another 12 pounds by the end of October, because that will put me back to where I was this time last year. From then on anything lost will be great.

Hope it's going well for you all too.

Sorry I've not been about; been on a very boozy weekend in Leeds.

Well done on the weightloss - that's great news.

Just a point, as the weight comes down, the closer you get to goal, you may find you will need to start counting the calories as its easy to eat too much without realising.

Keep up the good work though

Yep, I'm sure you're right Sarah. There will come a point when I have to start doing this. At the moment though, I'm pretty good at stopping eating when I start to feel full, because I can't bear that 'stuffed' feeling any more.

Weigh in this morning, and 3 more pounds lost. I'm aiming to reduce another 9 by the end of October, so I think I'll have to up my exercise a bit. :) (I don't mind doing this, it's just finding the time to fit it in).
