Betty Boo Management Journey

Hi Alan,

I hope you had a great weekend seeing your family, I bet they had a huge shock seeing and entertaining with the new you. How did it go an what kind of reaction did you get? I can't wait to hear I am so excited for you.

Being veggie I have always eaten a wide variety and plenty of fruit and veg (probably too much) I have always eaten lots of raw veg so it was so nice to introduce those last week. My tastebuds have changed a lot though as I am not enjoying some of my fav veg as much as I used too.

I am so looking forward to introducing fruit this week, I have been out shopping and spent a fortune! I always used to spend a lot on fresh fruit and veg but I forgot just how much.

Im pleased to hear that you are feeling the same with regards to the foodpacks. I am now finding them a confort food - which is really strange as I couldn't wait to get off them. This seems to be quite common though so we are ok hear. At least you can have soups soon which will be nice. So what week are you in then?

I also exercise. I go to the gym 5 times a week, I think I probably over do it but that is something I shall deal with as we go along. I do feel so much better when I have exercised although I don't always fancy it. I must say I went for an early morning run at 7:15 on Saturday before I went to the gym and it was lovely, warm and peaceful and gave me the opportunity to really think. You want to give it a go at about 6-7 in the morning on your bike if you don't go out that early already. You feel like your alone.

I would love to get my bike and go out but I have no where to store it as we are currently living in a one bed flat.

Well let me know how your weekend went, I really can't wait to hear the reaction you got :)

xx

Hiya Goombagirl,

How's it going? I hope you are having a good weekend. At least the weather is better.

I am pleased to hear your trigger foods are going well and you haven't had any major problems, this must be reassuring. Cheese and Bread coming up then. I am sure you will be fine with these if you have been with the others. You may find that you are not able to eat as much bread as you feel a lot fuller/bloated as you haven't had it for so long. I am really looking forward to trying Rye Bread! Cheese will be a problem for me I am sure. I suppose that you will probably go for quality now rather than quality and you may suprise yourself by how well you manage it.

Yum, yum a bowl of porridge. Can you have honey at any stage during management?

I think you hit the nail on the head when you said it will be time to move on and forget the bars/packs as I am sure the more you introduce you will find alternatives and as you have said keep an eye on quantities/frequency. I had some natural yogurt the other day and if I had had the pot in front of me I would have eaten the whole lot as I didn't have any proper protien as such so could have got away with saying, you deserve it. Also resisted the urge to have 'just another spoonful' when washing up - I did a thought record but can see that I will need to watch yogurts i the future.

You have done so well, I am so encouraged by your journey.

 xx

I am getting on ok, still not eating very much. This is going to take time. I have been very stressed because of my grandparents.

This is quite comical, so I thought I would let you know. I phoned my Mum on Friday to confirm the time I needed to meet my brother and sister and she said that my Grandad had also gone into hospital and was on the SAME ward as my Nan!! I could not believe it. My heart sank at the time.

Well we went to see them both Sat they had moved my Grandad to a different ward which I think was best.

My Nan was really bad, It was incredibly sad to see her in this state. I don't quite know what is going to happen hear as she we can't ever see her managing living alone again, she had a long recovery ahead of her should she choose to take this path and not give up.

My Grandad was ok but we know that he will probably be in and out of hospital now for the rest of his life and we just hope he will be strong and pull through.

Anyway, my brother drove as there and on the way back we broke down and had to wait in the pooring rain on the side of the M20 to be picked up! The very nice receovery man had said that we had run out of fuel!!

Surely things can only get better now, lol xx

Hope all of you have had a fab weekend xx

I don't suppose any of you know any nice recepies using quinoa and tempeh?

Hi Betty,
I had a great weekend thanks, their reaction was fantastic they really couldn't believe it. It adds to experience of losing weight really and makes it even more worth while.
I've just had tuna and asparagus for my evening meal which was really tasty. I'm also not going to have anything else tonight in the way of fruit as I have to try and come up with a way of not grazing on fruit, which is something I do in the evenings so today is the first day of coming up with a strategy for that.
I went to 2-3 farm shops today and bought to much fruit and vegetables. Dont you just luv english fruit lol. I've just had to make a huge pan of
ratatouille which I'm going to freeze. I'm in week 4 of maintenance at the moment so a big week next week with the introduction of booze. I'l be hitting the white wine and soda Friday and Saturday nights:D.
I start work at 5 am so I'm out cycling early most day and your right its so peaceful. I've missed exercising this weekend so I'll be going out for a walk later on, after the grand prix. I've never quite managed to get on with the gym hence the need for a bike which I'm finding easier to use regualarly.
I'm planning on replacing the soups with low callory cuppa soups and my chocolate before bed with low callorie options hot chocolate drink.
I'm getting a blog up and running at the moment so I can log my food intake and exercise as an added incentive and help to becoming a successful weight manager.
I hope your Grand parents get better soon Betty and things do in deed get better soon for you.

Aaah Alan

I am so pleased you had such a great reception from everyone. It must have been just as nice for your family to see you healthy and happy.

A ratatouille with the extra fruit and veg is a great idea as it will go with anything, I must remember that when I can cook veg - actually can I do that this week? My mum used to make a mean one - shall have to get the recepie.

What an earth is your job to get up and be at work for 5 am? Your not a baker are you?

Hope you enjoy the wine and soda - you have made me fancy one now when you get to it.

Can't wait for you to get the blog up and running.

Well have a good evening and enjoy your choccie foodpack.

xx:D

Hi Betty,
I run a warehouse but I have to go in early to let the lorry drivers out. I think I'd be in trouble if I had to bake bread lol.
You can't start cooking your vegetables until week 4 unfortunately. So you've got a little while to wait, I'll definately make sure I have a wine for you next week ;) lol I'd be very interested in your mum's recipe for ratatouille, I just used the one in the LL recipe book so pretty basic really. I did add an extra few bits and pieces though. anyway guess its my bed time I hope you have a great monday

Alan

Hi Betty, I'm sure I've got a Carol Vorderman book somewhere - I know there are quinoa recipes in there. If I find it I'll tell you! You sound as if you're doing really well, despite the trauma with your grandparents.

"You may find that you are not able to eat as much bread as you feel a lot fuller/bloated as you haven't had it for so long."

Unfortunately I don't think so! My rather (?un)healthy appetite has returned but hopefully my mindset is different. I've just had my first bowl of porridge and decided not to have anything sweet on top - this is my chance to learn a new habit. It was very tasty and after a few bowls I think I won't want maple syrup on it! I'd put on a pound at my weigh in yesterday - a tiny part of me thinks  but the rest of me knows it puts me back to where I was 5 weeks ago so no reason to panic!! It is always a bit scary to think of putting weight on after what we went through to lose it but of course it's normal to fluctuate a couple of pounds or so. I haven't been normal for so long!

Evening,

Hope you are all well.

My boyfriend had his car stolen last night from our nearest train station, I can't belive it. Reported to police and they found it abandoned across someones driveway miles from the station and not in great shape. We think it is probably a write off. We haven't had much luck with cars, mine was infected by the petrol crisis and he has been through quite a few old bangers in recent months! Oh well after everything else that has happend this year I really do hope the last 6 months of the year turn out to be better.

After I got in from the gym I cooked some Tofu under the grill, I rolled half in ginger and half in Hot chilli poder and course black pepper served with a lovely veg salad. The tofu was lovely and crispy, I can't seee what I didn't like pre LL. Must say because I knew it has 7.5g of fat I really forced myself to eat it but as I am now down to two foodpacks and I didn't have any extra snacks I didn't see the harm - sad I know.

Alan once I get that recepie I shall post it on here, It is really simple but it does taste so nice with anything and is all home grown stuff. So you aren't a baker then hee hee, I don't know how you would have done LL if you were (although I am sure there must be some bakers, food testers or choocie tasters who have my ideal job ). Enjoy a glass for me :)

Goombagirl, I think you are being very sensible with not introducing sweet things to things which are not needed. Porridge is lovely with or without honey/maple syrup but it is all in the mind that makes us want it sweet. I must say I liked bananna mixed in (with or without honey) as a natural sweetner and I think AJ said it was nice with cinamon! I suppose it would be wrong to say I did used to mix chocolate in sometimes if it was to hand - which often it was, oh dear :sigh:
That pound you put on could be water or a number of things. Dont be hard on yorself, you have done so well and really inspired me. Keep up the hard work xx

Jo, Thanks for taking the time to look, I too saw that Tescos website said they were veggie, but the packets in the shop are not. I am so confused!

Thank you for your replies, have a good evening xx

Sorry to hear about the car troubles. It's never nice when somebody thinks they have the right to nick your hard earned things and then worse, dump it. Hope you get it sorted.

As for the meal, as an avid meat eater, I even started to fancy this tofu! I assume your taste buds are alive to all the flavours we have missed. I hope I don't taint mine down the line.

Sam

sorry to hear about your troubles Betty, you seem to have kept your focus, though despite everything

You are right about the taste buds, they are well and truly alive. I had the most gorgeous fruit salad this morning and could taste everything, it was so nice. I have been looking forward to fruit for so long and I had tomato's last night and today and they were lovely too.

It's really funny how our tastes have changed isn't it. As a meat eater Sam I am suprised you fancy Tofu which does not have any flavour, but the good thing is you can flavour it with what you want and it is a complete protien so is very very good for you. I recommend you try it. I used to hate it but I love the way it cooks and really like the taste and texture now.

How are you getting on? xx

Little Blue

It is great to hear from you and I see you have beaten yet another goal, well done. I caught sight of you the other week and thought you looked great. You can really see the loss now.

How are things going now, have you settled into development and the group yet?

Pam and I are missing the support of the Thursday crowd, it just is not the same in an open group.

PLease let me know how you are getting on xx:hug99:

Hi Betty,
Sorry to hear the news about your car, I hope you get it resolved soon. I'm really glad your getting the buzz from the fruit its fantastic isn't it. I have never tried Tofu before but will give it a try just for the hell of it next week lol. I have to double up my meals now and also the raw vegetables which is going to be a bit of a struggle I think but we'll see how we go. I got a busy weekend coming up so that'll keep me out of trouble. Have a great Thursday

x

I will try your Tofu recipe down the line as some weeks to go before management.

Things have been much better for me this week with no cheats. I am looking forward to my weigh in Saturday and hope for a good loss.

Cross your fingers for me.

Keep us posted with your management days/meals

Sam

Hi Alan,

Yup the fruit is gorgeous, I am loving it although probably a little too much. Not really sure how much I should be having really. I suppose some days I may eat 4 1/2 portions. I am a bit worried that I am eating too much as I am thinking perhaps they are two high in sugar!! What do you think?

How are you getting on with your two meals a day, what kind of things are you doing?

Let me know how you are getting on
xx

Sam,

I have my fingers crossed for you, I know what it's like. You sound like you are doing just fine this week. Well done for not giving in keep up this positive attitude.

I have mainly been sticking with salad and cottage cheese although the last two nights I have had some Quorn ham with the cottage cheese which was nice.

Tonight I had salad and cottage cheese and then a few grapes and blueberries ad 4 strawberries, yum with Fat free Yeo Valley yogurt (500g!!)

I know I need to up my intake so as it was late and I had been in the gym all week for 1 1/2 hours each night and all I had eaten was two foodpacks and the salad and cottage cheese I thought I would have some yogurt. I forced myself to start it but then couldn't stop. I was full but it was so nice and I wanted to know how I would react afterwards and tomorrow. I feel ok about it at the moment as I am getting up at 6:45 to go for a run before I head to the gym. I do 400cal cv 4 weeknights plus weights and legs, bum, tum and on a Saturday I do 700 cal cv weights and legs, bum, tum so I thought it might give me the energy for that! Crooked thinking?

I shall see how I feel tomorrow as I have a busy day after the gym anyway. I do feel a bit guilty and am so worried about putting on weight but I think I knew yogurts would be a problem and I feel so full now I don't think I would be eating that amount everytime, it was a bit ott!

Anyway Sam, I shall be thinking of you tomorrow, stay focused and it won't be long until I can read about your management journey :)

xx

P.s let m know how you get on tomorrow

Hi Betty, I have been eating loads of fruit some days as much as 8 portions, I ate a full bunch of grapes on thursday evening. I spoke to my LLC about it and she said as I was still losing weight then it must be ok. I am going to start reducing the grazing now though so I think my intake will drop abit now. The sugars in fruit are good sugars that the body deals in a good way I think.
I went out last night and had a meal with a good friend last night, I had chicken tikka with 2 side portions of vegetables, I really enjoyed it and wasn't over full at all. I'm finding 2 meals abit of a challenge, it's trying to figure out when to eat them. I'm keeping to trukey or fish at the moment. It has meant I'm eating less vegetable snacks. I have got a familly bbq today so I'm going to just eat there today and only have fruit for breakfast.
I was rather drunk last night lol it was a great evening though and I'm not going to beat myself up to much, I'm not a big drinker normally so it should be fine I hope. There is a lot of sugar in them Yeo yogurts isn't there? But I know where your coming from eating a full pot they are very moreish. I hope your having a great weekend what are you up to?

Hi Alan,

Hope you are having a great weekend. I am pleased to hear that you are enjoying socialising with food (and it must be said alcohol from the sounds of it) I exepect you never thought you would be able to do this again. You sound like you are doing so well. I can't wait until I can go out and eat with my family and friends. I am so nervous.

The fruit is addictive isn't it, you can really taste all the flavours. I used to eat a lot of fruit before but because of all the other rubbish I was eating the majority of the time I don't think it ever tasted this good.

Did the same thing again yesterday with the Yeo yogurts, feel really guilty about it although I know that I don't really have any need to with the exercise I did and I was out all afternoon shoppping.

What yogurts do you eat - I am sure you have told me.

I have been buying the plain version and yesterday I bought a vanilla pod and added half of this to some of the yogurt to give it the vanilla flavour naturally, then I chilled it in the freezer for a while, it was lovely. I also added a litlle cinnamon and nutmeg to another bit and some fruit - I am still in the experimental stage at this moment as you might tell.

Have a great weekend. Im off to look at your blog now.

xx

Oh dear I've really had a bad weekend in the end Betty as I'm sure you can see from my blog. I'm not sure I'll be drinking anymore for a while. Slowly getting it together again today. I was buying the soya yogurts but they aren't low fat so I wont be buying anymore for now. I have grazed my way through this afternoon eating a punnet of strawberries and raspberries also. Just had a protein meal as well which was to much I'm feeling full now. I have got to get back on track again tomorrow. Sorry you had to go read my blog, it's not quite as bad as it looks. I hope your weekend continues to go well.
