Birmingham Meet

No that was for Jurys Inn Sandy x

I like the idea of staying at the HIE or PI Oldbury way and getting a taxi into Birmingham. Holiday Inn Express is about £40 a night and the Premier Inn is about £50. Which is a good saving on the Jurys price and likely to be much better than the Travel Lodge.

Just me thinking out loud.

I had a look at both, not sure about distance from where others are staying/meeting, but even tho they say from £x per night, it is nothing like that when I entered the nights I want lol x

And there is free parking at both, tho you would have to add on taxi fayres

I've only ever stayed at Jury's Inn in Broad Street for Birmingham meets, and I know the Travelodge is just yards away from there.

I'm a 'definite maybe' but also want to know whereabouts we'd be looking to spend the day/evening before deciding on where to stay.

Sorry, Cheryl, you are right. HIE is £47 and PI £56.

I would think that a hotel would be decided on that suited most people and there would be no trouble with parking whereas in the city centre may be more difficult and expensive.

I did notice that you could also get a room for 3 people for the same £47.;)

I just messaged Jane and she said about the one that the car parking is free....
I think im going to go for this one, if anyone else is going to stay here let me no. Im more then happy to share if anyone wants to/taxi/ hotel room.
Let me no .

I tried to get a price for October with the Travel Lodge hotel but the site does not seem to be working properly. It just said from £36.75 plus £6 a day parking.

After my experience of a Travel Lodge last month I am not keen to repeat the experience and would prefer something cleaner and less tacky. Would prefer out of town to that.

I just mentioned to Karen about if we can post our names with where we are thinking of staying which hotel .
Just so it can make it a bit easier to decide.
Thank you

I honestly dont know what hotel though, not Jurys, I cant afford £120.

Something cheaper and with parking.

How about someone with local knowledge suggesting somewhere out of town, is anyone really fussed about having to socialise in town? If we're only there one night I dont mind. I know if it was in Glasgow while there are loads of fab places in town, there are just as many good places out of town, nearer accomodation. I dont see the point in paying over the odds for parking and a room when we could do cheaper elsewhere. If we're sitting in a restuarant/pub all evening I dont suppose it matters where it is - well not to me it doesnt lol

Well both the HIE and PI scored far higher than the Travel Lodge in Broad Street and about equal between them and are near to Jane and Clarri. ;)

So thinking of costs for people the HIE comes out cheaper.

Jane was teasing me about Jimmy Spices last night so dont know what is planned for the evening. As Sandy says it is the meeting up with everyone that is important, not the venue.

Over to you, Jane. ;)

I'll do a bit of research since I'm local, tho the origional idea was to eat at Jimmy spices, which is in Brum. Some of us have been there before and enjoyed it,plus I know Clarri really wants to try it !!

Nom nom, So do I. :D

But even if it is costs about £4 each to get into Birmingham to Jimmy Spices it will still work out cheaper to stay near you.
