C25K beginners - struggle with W1D1

Thanks for your messages to my neck!! It's eased up a lot since my treatment yesterday, but still mega sore....GP prescribed a strong NSAID so that should help with exercises and ice!!

Went for a 3 mile walk today instead of a run! I wasn't as quick as I usually am but still exercise is exercise. Hoping I can get back to it next week, but will probably take it slow!!

Good luck to you all sounds like good progress is being made :)

Oh dear Slimjim I hope your neck is feelingbetter soon :)

Week 9 day 2 done for me now so just 1 more run to go. What are everyones plans when they finish C25k?? I'm going to try B210k but bit concerned about finding the time to squeeze it in. I'm hoping I can :)

I have just done w2d1 and it wasn't too bad!! Still red as a beetroot when I got home but it seemed to go quicker than last week, thinking that I might actually be able to do this!

Well I did it :D That's the first one finished. I'm feeling a bit stiff already, I hope I can still move tomorrow!! And I hope I can move enough for W1D2 on Wednesday!

Thanks to all of you guys in this thread, you gave me the inspiration to give it a go xx

Wow, well done :) running for 30 minutes must feel so good (and probably bad at the same time!). Once I complete c25k I'm hoping to do b210k, but I agree it's time consuming as you need an hour or more each time. Good luck :)

It feels great Slimjim as I never thought starting out that I would ever do it never mind enjoy it. I'm hoping to do my final run on thursday & going to try to aim for 40 minutes just to see if I can do it (& also to burn a few extra calories as I have a wedding on wednesday ) Then hopefully next week I'll start B210k & see how it goes  I'm hoping I can fit it in ok as I usually out the tea on & get hubby to keep an eye while I go out for a run then its ready by the time I get back. Might have to see if he can put the tea on a couple of times a week. I'm sure he will if I talk nicely :D

Does anyone else have problems with their hip?? I seem to get a kind of grating soreness in my left hip since I started running for more than 20 minutes. It's kind of putting me off which is a shame because I was enjoying being able to run for that long and not die! Lol!!

Maybe you need some orthotics insoles to correct something?

Fionat29, I agree with Shirleen its definitely something worth looking at. At some point I am going to go to one of the sports shops that analyses the way you run to make sure & get the correct trainers. I have no idea about cost though but i do remember reading somewhere that gel insoles were a good alternative so thats what I have been using in the meantime. Hopefully you'll be able to get it sorted out as you have been doing so well & from the sounds of things really enjoying it :)

Ummm...I just didn't finish Wk 6 day 1, because I GOT BITTEN BY A DOG!!!! :(

Not badly; there's a bruise and a red scrape, but no blood. Wasn't even a big dog, but it was a real shock. Just jogging away and this terrier leapt up and bit at my thigh! Owner swatted him away but he came back for another go, thankfully only getting my clothes that time.

I had to stop, obviously, and then I was just a bit shaken for a while, had a bit of a cry on a park bench (felt like an idiot for crying). Managed another 5 minutes and then gave up.

Dog spit on my jogging pants.

Ouchies! Just friendly word of advice, if it's broken the skin-even a tiny bit you'll need to get a vaccination-can't remember what it's called but it's a special one against whatever dogs carry! If you have a minor injuries unit near by, go along and one of the nurse practitioners will sort you out! I only speak from experience after getting bitten by a dog a year or so ago x

Wow! Didn't know that. I'll give the GP a call. Thank you!

I've already got running shoes for over probation because I had Plantar Fasciitis a while back. Excruciating pain! But I went to a specialist shop and they got me to try on one pair, just one!! And the pain went away like magic. So I guess maybe I do need to go back and see if they can suggest something. I don't want to give up running when I've just started and it doesn't hurt while running but you know it's going to later which is a bit off-putting lol!!

What is it with little dogs and runners?? A long haired chihuahua (that's really hard to spell. Lol!!) had a go at me, I don't know why but I looked at it and thought that he looked a bit suss, so I was kind of ready for it and literally jumped over him as he went for me. Poxy dogs! And their owners!! I could hear the owner saying "he wouldn't have hurt you" as I carried on!! Grrr!

REPORT IT
The police are the ones that should be informed, as well as the council, you never know, this may have happened to someone else before
There has been a dog on a child attack here, if the handler cannot control it then what happens if the next dog s/he gets is a bigger one

I hope your ok, it would be a big shock
