No no no no no!!! Read the sticky at the top of the posts. Its EXTREMELY dangerous to drink alcohol while in ketosis. Do a search for other posts some people have made on their experiences of drinking while on LT- it's not good.

Stick to the water. Have it with ice and tell people you're having vodka on the rocks! Definitely not worth knocking yourself out of ketosis and I've heard people say it can be dangerous- going unconscious etc.

Just tell yourself that at her NEXT birthday you can have one or two...and some food...AND be looking stunningly slim!

Have fun and stay strong you're doing brilliantly so far

I know hun.

The other night was the pub quiz and we always go and get pretty sozzled. I just didn't want to go- it felt like there was no point without knocking back the drink and indulging in crisps and the half-time chips. This week though I'm going to go. As time passes you'll find yourself getting less and less bothered about what other people are doing and you'll just feel happy about what's going on with you. And it isn't forever!!! A bit of feeling crappy now hun...but imagine the happiness of being the weight you want to.

What I'd advise...and I'm lucky cos not all of my friends like drink that much...is organise alternative things to do. Obviously you can't change your friend's party, but why not get everyone to go to the cinema...or have a girly sex and the city night doing your nails etc? Do any of your friends do sport or have hobbies that you're interested in? Why not join them doing that so that you don't feel deprived of socialising just because you aren't drinking. The first 2 weeks I felt really quite lonely... It wasn't just the food...it was that my whole life felt like it was changing (for the worse!) and that I was missing out.

You soon realise it isn't missing out...it's giving yourself something amazing.

Chin up- you'll feel really proud of yourself when you get past this feeling

move away from the alcohol.

definite no no on this diet.

Stick to sparkling water, I've done it loads and had great evenings still. Yes it's weird at times but be glad you're not the one making a drunken arse of yourself and consuming all those totally empty calories... :) :)

Alcohol is a definate NO NO NO!!!! whilst on tfr. If you were to drink alcohol you'd need to refeed properly first.

There is a sticky about alcohol and ketosis - go have a goose.

Surely you can go one night without alcohol? I too thought i'd never ever be able to do so but i did - i went on a booze cruise, everyone around me was bladdered and i was the only one sober. Felt extremely proud of myself - im sure you will too if you do the same.

But please don't drink alcohol if you havnt refed properly, you'd be putting yourself in extreme danger.

OMG!!!! Lynn do you know how much danger you put yourself in?
Some people ask for advice, and then have to hear something like that and then they end up putting themselves in danger. Totally irresponsible.

Extremely dangerous - Lynn I'd urge you not to use wine as a treat again!! you may have been ok this time, and you may still have lost weight - but the potential damage is far greater and i would not want to see anyone here risk it.

It can be fatal to drink while you are in ketosis. A risk worth taking??????????????????????????????

Seriously guys, a few months without alcohol. It's not that hard to do and if you really *need* it on a night out then you should look at why. That's my opinion anyway, others may disagree and that's fine.

I have to agree with Tanya & Elle-emm, Lynn you have no idea how much of a risk you took! Google the risks of drinking alcohol while in ketosis- it's scary, and can be fatal. I did LT to get healthy- and no way would I risk dying for a few drinks....
It was still there when I finished.

agreeing with Elle, Tanya and Irish here! its such a mistake to drink in ketosis. could do you soo much harm. i'm going to a wedding this month and was planning on have 1 drink while i'm there as a celebration and because i'll be hallfway through.

i read the sticky above and googled some bits and pieces and i am SOOOO not going to drink anything!!

your friends will understand if you tell them because of the diet its very dangerous rather than just saying you cant.
