CarolineM's new improved diary

And yet the coriander seems to be doing the best .... in a grow bag .... weird. Note I did say 'the best' not 'well' ;)

You wouldn't think chives would be 'difficult' not when all they have to do is look like a long bit of grass ... ;)

Ah well - I'm learning ... and we're enjoying the leaves. It remains to be seen whether any courgettes or dwarf beans put in appearances. They've got a few leaves at least :)

Well for the 1st time ever I am growing 3 varieties of toms. And I have 13 liitle green ones sitting waiting to grow and ripen and getting very excited about it. Next year both hubby and me going to put a bigger effort into using our greenhouse.

I was so tempted by some of the "sale" plants in Morrisons last night - they looked a bit warn but all had fruit/veg growing and were easy savers. But resisted hehe!

Ooh you have a greenhouse Shep? I'm looking at getting a proper one but am attracted to the polycarbonate ones at the moment.

Was a bad girl lastnight - had a bit of a binge on some mini-mini-rolls. But back on track today :D

Only a small one, we originally got it for winters for our fushias but never used it,this year I thought tomatoes and went and did it.

Going for 100% day need to shift some weight?? How much can we lose on DietChef in 4 weeks?

Ooh what variety of tomato? I'm still waiting for my first trusses but fingers crossed :D

I believe we can lose a stone if we stick to it straight. I hope so :D

Ohh nice, I have beef and gardeners delight (plus one micro-tom) - did have moneymaker but the slugs took the top off :(

Right, so today we are committed to that one stone (or more if lucky ;)) :D

Are toms easy to grow? Do they have to have a greenhouse? I love plum cherry toms but always feel a bit guilty buying them coz they're a lot more expensive.

Good luck on your stone each off! xx

Ah, thanks Jan :)

Tomatoes are pretty easy to grow and a greenhouse is not essential - they do very well in a sunny spot. It does depend on the weather somewhat - last year wasn't the best but I didn't grow them then, thank goodness. If you like cherry tomatoes, tumblers are good - lots of fruit and with it being a hanging variety it doesn't require support - I had several growing out of hanging bags - they grow about 2 feet.

I think we are all taking the home grown natural food is the way to health thing very seriously hehe! At least we know what is on our food, in it, etc. when it is grown by ourselves.

Day off today - Arnie (our little black and white puddy) is going in for "the op". I'm sure he will be fine - it's us that are in a bad way - well the hubby in particular as he was up most of the night with the hungry meowing kitty :(

Right, nice shower calls - enjoy your day everyone :D

Good luck to Arnie, he will be fine.

Had a good day yesterday so feeling good today. Lets hope it continues...

Ah good luck Arnie ... This'll make you laugh - I was about to post that I didn't know what a 'puddy' was ... as I began to type I thought DUR!!!! She means a puddy tat as in 'I tort I tor a .....'

..On the other hand you coud have hit the 'd' by accident as it's next to the 's' ... but I doubt that

God what a load of waffle!!

I'm v disappointed today as I had it earmarked for getting out & about with the dog in the nice weather after taking Mother shopping - and look at it!!! :(

Ah well .... Might give those toms a go next year xx

Weather isn't too bad our way - kind of muggy and cloudy. A good thunderstorm is what we need.

Vet rang - Arnie is okay. It was quite an op for him as he was "short of one" lol Seems he still has his ear mites though, poor fella. He really hates those drops!

There are still some toms being sold in garden centres for quite cheap if you fancy a go - best thing is that they have already flowered by now. But it's nicer to grow them from seed ;)

Diet not going too well today - but could be worse. I'll be well happy with half a pound this week.

Aaaaaah - glad he's okay :)

I actually saw some tom plants in homebase this afternoon but they were HUGE and I didn't think I'd be able to manage one tbh. Also they were beef toms. Think I'll look out for a cherry one xx

Morning :D

Arnie is fine - he's asleep at the moment which is good ;)

It is nice and warm - hope it stays like this as I'm looking at a good strawberry crop. Although they say lots of rain and thunder later - oh well :D

Really putting my mind into the diet as from today. Going to try and take advantage of the hot weather.

Hope everyone is having a great day :D

yeah not too bad, went a bit off today as had ny daughters sports day and went without any nibbles. Plenty of drink had over a litre today and not finished yet.

So hoping I didn't go to bad, few crisps and a ham roll. But I have a piece of chicken roasting in the oven and loads of salad to go with it.

I had a great day yesterday, and then the Thorntons attacked and boy did they attack with avengence - not sure what came over me to be honest. Took me over my calorie limit by 650!!! But still, 2,200 cals is better than the huge amount I was eating in a day!

Got the vegetable curry for dinner - cannot make up my mind whether I like it or not.

Went bookshop last night and got some books on yoga - I have some somewhere but probably packed up in a box in a corner. Used to do yoga regularly in my 20s and wish to get back into it again. I'm naturally bendy which helps.

Another warm day ahead :D

Good idea to get to it then - the yoga I mean, before you stiffen up like me!! Long way for you to go I know but start as you mean to go on and all that ;)

Put my basil in pots yesterday after what you said .... I'm sure it must be my imagination but it looks bigger & better already!

Well I'm off to bed soon so hope you have a nice day!

And BE GOOD!!! ;) xx

I've started off well today and I promise I will be good :D

hehe if you have the basil right it will grow really quickly especially in this weather. I'm planning to grow it throughout the year as it is just fantastic - great in salads.

Decided to have sushi for lunch - I just fancied a change :D I so love fish :D

Today is not as hot thank goodness. Not that I mind the weather really hot, but the humidity is the killer for me! Plus rain would be nice for the garden :D

Friday already! Only a few plans for the weekend - lunch with mum tomorrow followed by a charity light operetta evening later on and then Sunday got a friend coming round and we are going to talk sushi classes.

I'm hoping to catch up on sleep :)

Hope everyone has a great day :D

hoping for a good day, had a mixed kebab last night. OOPPSS

But will be back on track today.;)

Wasn't so good myself last night but I'm eating around 2,000 cals which although no doubt too much means I do lose over time.

Should really get cracking though on some serious effort!

Hoping to go to Poland with mum in May next year and it would be nice if I don't have to ask for the extender belt - would also be great if I could lose some weight and impress the relatives :D
