The subject of chafing due to thigh rub came up on another thread and rather than hijack that one I decided to start another.

I was googling for a better product than the talc and moisturiser I use as I'd heard that athletes use something specific.

This is what I found - with the offer of a free sample to try it out.

Lanacane: Get rid of the itch

Hope this helps someone,

Micci

It's not really 'chafing ' but does anyone else get that thing with shorts where they seem to rub higher ad higher on your thighs but the outsides stay where they should be.

I hear Lanacane is good. I've never used it, but a friend of mine (who is incidentally only a size 12!) swears by it in summer she she's wearing a skirt with bare legs.

I rubbed some into my hand and it is weirdly slippery without being wet or sticky :).

I also get the irritating shorts-riding-up-inner-thighs thing, grrr!

a few years ago I heard that the chafing only happens when you sweat so I started using a cream anti perspirant on my thighs where they rubbed if I was wearing a skirt or dress and it really worked. I also use a roll on under my boobs and belly where I can get an itchy rash from sweating and it works wonders!

Hey lovetosew, I'm going to try that, the logic sounds just right. I've never come across a cream anti persperant, what do you use.

Still no free lanacane sample here. Did anyone else apply?

I use the Vaseline Intensive Care Active Fresh Dry Cream. It comes in a funny toadstool shape container, you twist the bottom and the cream squeezes out the top. That is what I use as my usual deodorant anyway and I find it fab, I tend to develop allergies top spray deos but I've been using this for years now. For under boobs/belly I use Powder Fresh Mitchum roll on because it is lighter and quicker to apply.

Thank you for the tip about lanacane. I only get the rubbing when its hot and I wear a skirt. I always use moisturiser between my thighs, and if I have chaffed, I cool the sore skin with germolene.

I am finding that losing weight is helping. Since losing two stone my thighs rub together less....

There is a cream anti-perspirent called Arrid as well, I have used it and it is good. Boots sell it and it is only a few quid.
