Chunky Dunker To Skinny Dipper

Aww Scarlet hun, I'm so sorry about your STS this week. I think weight loss is 95% mental and in order to succeed you need to get yourself in the right frame of mind first. I hope visiting your doc helps and definitely talking about things with those around you is the right way to go. With me the thing that stopped me from starting for so long was looking at the big picture and thinking I wouldn't be able to lose all that weight in a million years. It really helped me to break it down into mini goals so it seemed a bit more achievable.

*big hugs* and I hope you have a much more positive week from now on. Draw a line under last week and keep moving on xxx

Thanks Bev. It is mostly mental and I've gone from being so motivated to well no motivation at all lately and don't know why. I'm hoping the wedding Saturday will give me a lift but I need to get in the right frame of mind and soon. It's not all bad i haven't put on what I've lost so far so I am taking that as a plus. You've done brilliantly again, well done on the 4lb loss I really hope you get that extra pound by Sunday :) xx

It's a pity motivation doesn't come in a bottle. I'm struggling with the motivation for uni revision at the minute, just gonna force myself to start it and hope the motivation comes in due course!

Thanks for the kind words, really hope I get the pound by Sunday, but if not I know it'll be waiting for me the week after. I'm just amazed to be in the 18's tbh, never thought I'd get to this point!

As for your weight loss, like you say you haven't gained so thats a good thing. Just take it a dat at a time, try and stick to plan even if you really dont feel like it and hopefully the motivation will come back. Its so hard sometimes with all the temptations that are around us every day! xxx

Oh Honey I'm sorry you're lacking in motivation, we all have those days (or weeks!) but you know you can get back on it! I find (not that I take my own advice often) if I do a healthy online shop with a few new bits it gets me motivated again, because I get all excited about trying the new things and a bundle of healthiness arriving. Maybe we should put our heads together and invent a pill that gives instant motivation...:)

Second that! The day I can wear something without sleeves or a cover-up will be the day I have achieved all my goals! :p

It's my ankles I hate because of the water retention but I made it even worse Saturday by drinking. Alcohol puffs me up something stupid :(

Was just about to apologise for not posting much here lately but I start every post that way and it's getting old now lol

Had a busy week wedding planning wise, photographer is sorted, wedding venue decorator has been visited and wedding dress has been found!!

Made an appointment at one bridal boutique that specialises in plus size dresses. Given the way I've stuck to the plan I'm going to need a plus size dress for the wedding even if I get my head properly in the game (not negativity just realism) so I went and was nervous about getting so close to naked with a very slim stranger playing dress up with me but it turns out it was a much nicer experience than I had imagined. I don't often feel pretty or feminine at my weight, I mostly feel like a very big, ungraceful, frumpy lump and I never wear dresses. Ever! I wore one a few weeks ago to a friends wedding but that was the first time since I've been allowed to dress myself that I have worn one and had pretty much convinced myself that I was going to be way too fat for every sample dress they had in the shop.

I tried on 5 dresses after picking out the ones I liked the most and dress number 3 was the winner! The sample was a size 16 but the backs on all of them have been snipped to provide extra room for brides of any size to be able to try anything on that they like the look of. Apart from the back not lacing up properly the dress looked lovely from the front and I fell in love with it. I can only imagine how much nicer it will be when it's in my actual size. The woman who owns the shop Louise was amazing and even though we talked about what I classed as my problem areas, what I wanted to skim over and cover up she gave me fantastic advice and compliments and I never felt judged/awkward/ashamed of my figure. She made me feel that on my wedding day I was going to be beautiful and that alone was worth the price tag on the dress!!

Trying to be a good girl and resist buying it until I have seen the new collections out in July but now I have the dress I have no excuse for not losing weight and getting it in a smaller size/looking even better in it on the big day. So it's back on plan for me and aiming for 7lb a month between now and the wedding which would potentially lose me 8st+. Sorry for the rambling post have a great day guys :) xx

I love that post, so much positivity! And I'm sure you will look absolutely stunning in your dress, be it a smaller size or not, but I believe 100% you can do it if that's what you want - if I can anyone can - I really don't mean that in a patronizing way, often when I say that, people think it's odd (my lovely Aunt is a size 24 and always tells me off because it's harder for her because she's bigger) but I have So many issues with food, and would literally stuff my face till I feel sick with bad stuff, I know how hard it is, and how hard it is to stay on track - especially at weekends! - but once you get a couple of weeks under your belt it gets SO much easier, and you've always got us for support. 7lbs a month is great, realistic target! :D

Aww thanks lovely :)

Food issues are issues no matter dress size or weight we are. I've got friends who are tiny size 8's who would have bigger problems than me if they had to give up chocolate or take aways. I've been doing lots of thinking about what my downfalls and pitfalls are and I just need to get strategies in place to help with them. Weekends and a fella who loves my cooking are the biggest two.

I did want to order a dress in a smaller size then have no choice to lose weight but Louise who dressed me (literally, it takes two to get such a big fluffy dress on) said that the way the dresses are made she doesn't advise it. Bridal sizing is notoriously small anyway but she said given that nobody can predict where they will lose weight from I could still need a bigger size but have some areas taken in so I'm going to put a photo of the dress on the cupboard instead. Might put me off reaching for the peanut butter!! Xx

it's odd too, that every time you diet you always lose from a different place! She's quite right, and sounds lovely too, I hate going dress shopping for the same reason, always beautiful stick thin people, I feel so judged!

I was dreading it. One how was I meant to know what I wanted when I don't wear dresses. No idea whether a line, empire or princess would be better and I knew I'd have to strip off. Nightmare! She said she was judged enough at a 10-12 and was told what she could and couldn't wear so when she opened the shop she knew she wanted to specialise in plus size just so brides could have a better experience. If I didn't already have someone to marry I think I would've married her lol xx
