Dairy Of a Lardy kid aged 43 and 3 quarters...

Hey Lisa

How has your Friday been? You're sticking to it really well so hopefully you'll see some great results on WI day- great your daughter is encouraging you to get out and about - it always makes me feel so good to walk outdoors. I'm lucky i live opposite a park and near a nature reserve so can see some lovely things just a hop skip and a jump away!! Felt much better in myself so far this year - and I'm working and studying which usually means I struggle but apart from not sleeping too well (despite Couch25k challenge and zumba!) am feeling good. Being in control of my eating always makes me feel so much better in myself. Saw what you said about getting support on here/online, but you know, I lost 3.5 stones about 8 years ago and when i started I got a slimming buddy on aol. We wrote often and she really motivated me to lose my weight. we never met, and never spoke but she was instrumental in helping me so i think any contact with people who understand and can give tips and help each other is invaluable. I'm on here every day at the moment to draw inspiration and motivation, get tips on recipes etc - yours look great by the way! i think we can all motivate each other to get there - no, I know we can!!

Hiya Malamobile :)
I have received more encouragement and support on here within the last week than I ever felt I received at class or from the very few friends I have, so I'm hearing you loud and clear on your experience with your AOL slimming buddy. :)
I would love to live closer to the earth that nature intended but I unfortunately I live right in the middle of a very busy little town and a good walk away from a tree or anything remotely not manmade lol. I like walking its just my anxiety and joints that do all the complaining but I'm doing better than I was doing this time 3 weeks ago and I hope to be improving bit by bit everyday. The test will come when the kids go back to school. My friend said I could lend his dog to go walking if that helps me to feel a little safer and less anxious...bless him, I wish it was as easy as that. But I am gonna go walking with him and Alfie the wonder-dog a few times next week either before he goes to work or after depending on his shift, getting out and feeling the fresh air on your skin does make you feel so much better I agree 100% :)

Ahhhh what a brilliant day. Hubbs had today off the first Saturday in a long long time, so we lay in until late so Breakfast was coffee and a bit more coffee (hexA) and cuddles :D

I had already simmered some chopped mushrooms in vegetable stock the night before so blended it up put it back onto simmer the added some fromage frais and as if like magic we had a lovely creamy rich mushroom soup for lunch and some bread (hexB)and it was really nice!

Had to do the food shop today so decided to go to Morrisons to see if they had any of the Turkish Delight mullers in but they'd sold out :( anyway just bought ff natural yoghurt and will add what I fancy in it instead. It amazed me the amount of Christmas food that was seriously reduced in price....a mean full large rounds of Danish blue cheese for 59p that are massive and I could've cried because that's my most favourite cheese in the whole wide world :( oh! And Morrisons didn't have any laughing cow blue cheese triangles in either....think it's back to the madness of Asda next Saturday for my shop in future.

Tea was 3 cauldron vegetarian sausages (3 syns) potato mashed with fromage frais, a little skimmed milk (HexA) and lots of black pepper, and some baked beans with a tblsp of extra light mayo in the side (1 syn)

I'm thinking something sweet and chocolatey to use my syns on tonight while watching the telly. I was going to make my own humus by blending chickpeas and adding fromage frais salt and pepper and a splash of lemon juice, but Im definitely craving sweet stuff tonight :)
Hope you're all having a good weekend and Saturday xx

Im gonna have to look out for that Turkish delight options, I love hot choc and adding it to that pot of quark in the fridge suits me fine :) what is it that you're studying? I wish had something like that at my front door.

spent some syns tonight on some yummy Saturday night in front of the telly type munchies :)

a bowl of twiglets (45g) - 8.5 Syns
34g of rainbow drops - 4 syns
a lovey scrummy curly wurly - 6 syns

I've hardly had any syns all week and weigh in is on Tuesday morning so I think I'll have a few liquorice allsorts with a Belgian chocolate mint hot choc before bed :)

Curly wurlys are great on Sw. I have only used my syns on 'normal food' this week and only gone to 5or6 a day which is VERY unusual for me! they are good though for making you feel you're not in a diet. Im studying 'global ecology and wildlife conservation'. Went to uni when younger but did a subject I could do rather than which interested me. 2 years ago did my professional qualification (yawn) so thought I'd do something that interests me (very into wildlife particularly butterflies); however it's hard and working full time I've decided no more study for a few years!!! Keeps me busy though and hands on keyboard rather than in fridge !!! Hope you have a great Sw day x

Thats sounds really, really interesting and intelligent all at the same time lol :) I'm more of an analytic type of being and decided to screw my head up by studying Adult Psychology specialising in cognitive and subliminal therapy, shame I can't counsel myself lol. Hope you are having a wonderful Sunday, say hello to the furries and the butterflies from me xxx

Lisa, WOW you're doing fantastic! I love that you put your recipes up too, i'm definitely going to try your cottage pie- i have to hide the quorn though because my OH feels that it doesn't fill him up because he's veggie. Well between you and I he's always full after my chili, little does he know its made from quorn.
That's really kind for your friend to offer his dog to help you also it does him a favor too, could your daughter walk with you after school.
I look forward to following your diary and all your successes.
p.s I understand the whole supermarket Christmas reductions I stood in front of biscuit tins today and chocolate with the whole but it's such a good saving. Not saving the increasing size of hips.

yours sounds very brainy (haha just realised that's very appropriate for psychology!!) and very very interesting. had a 100% day and have done my C25K challenge so now back to 'the ecology of Fingringhoe Wick'! I know how to have a good time but at least I have some veggie spag bol to boost my spirits!

How I didn't buy that cheese I do not know and there was big boxes of heroes going for £2 the same with tins of biscuits, made my heart break because I love a bargain even if I don't use the product lol.

Loving your diary Lisa just read it all and your recipes sound lovely, loved the idea of the mushroom soup :)
And i notice you are in Manchester, Me too!

Good luck in your journey x

The mushroom soup was lovely but the carrot and sweet potato soup was so much better :) x

Nice chilled day today, no housework, just cooking.

Late start to the day how it should be on a Sunday if you're not working. :D

Just fruit for breakfast and coffee. Cooked a massive Sunday roast, we always meet up at the end of the week to eat a roast and my eldest son and his girlfriend always come round, it's my favourite time of week when I've got all my children around me under one roof eating from the same table.

Hubbs, my eldest and his girlfriend had smoked ham with cheese sauce, carrots, green beans, sprouts, dry roast potatoes, dry roast parsnips and Yorkshire puddings. Myself and the two teenagers had the same but had Quorn fillets instead and gravy instead of cheese sauce. Pudding was homemade rice pudding which was ok I just couldn't get the sweetness right with the cinnamon, nutmeg and artificial sweetener it just ended up tasting a little bitter, next time I think I will just add fruit and work with the sweetness of that.

Tea was 4 dark rye ryvitas (hexB) and 4 laughing cow blue cheese triangles (hexA) with some chopped cucumber and boiled egg, followed by a cherry yoghurt a banana and an apple. I've still got syns left and think I'm gonna attack the tins of quality street left over from Christmas and have a few of those with a cuppa tea :).

Weigh in day tomorrow and made the mistake of having a sneaky WI this morning.....wish I hadn't it said I was only one pound down . I admit I will be disappointed if that's the case tomorrow, but in hindsight I am on 2 different types of medication with the most common known side effect being weight gain. Suppose it's going to be more of a slower process than initially thought. Because Im so big I was hoping for 4-5 pounds for the first week (that's what usually happens) for a kick start then would be quite happy to see a pound a week and every week thereafter. Anyway lets see what tomorrow brings :sigh:

Im off to get Alfie the Wonder-Dog for his walk down the canal with some chocolate and carrot bone shaped biscuits and his new ball :)

Hey a pound off is still off and it's not a gain! You've got a day to go yet don't let it undo all your good work.

started to reply and unplugged the computer - with my essay up the screen ahhhhhhh but all well it had autosaved luckily! don't worry, you may well have lost a bit more tomorrow and if not, then just remember that 1 lb each week is nearly 4 stone over the year! I completely understand though. I was DESPERATE to get on the scales this morning but stopped myself. I'm getting nervous and I will be disappointed if it's not dramatic, however, i have been doing a lot of sitting but also done my C25K and zumba and walked. A good loss to start you off always gives you motivation but when I lose 1lb first week I start panicking it's not going to work... but it will and we need to remember that - sometimes diets need a few weeks to kick in and we are all on cycles. they say you should really assess losses over a month to see patterns. your meds may well play a part too. all i keep thinking is that it's actually been easy and i don't feel deprived at all so anything is good while i feel like this! fingers crossed for you and for me!

Yep off course you're both right and I'm my own worse enemy, will not be stepping on the scales after tomorrow now more than once a week, because seeing that this morning has stayed with me all day <gives self a slap> I've been on that many diets and I do the same thing time and time again, get obsessed with the scales and let them dictate to me my day my food intake and my mood, it's pretty boring and predictable... I should know better by now!. Anyway..

Regardless of that I've actually had a really nice day!. Breakfast was 4 ryvitas with 4 laughing cow blue cheese triangles and a banana. Took my friends Dog Alfie out, with miracles of all miracles BOTH my teenagers came with me! :) (theyre back to school tomorrow) I managed to get them both out of bed before lunch time lol. Walked for well over 2 hours, and was soaking wet through by the time I'd dropped him off at his house and walked home, but felt all tingly and fresh from all the fresh air and rain.

Didn't have a lunch so to speak of just had some fruit and coffee when I got home around 3.30pm. Tea was an absolute labour of love but it was oh so worth it!!. Butternut squash risotto with sweet potato chips and Quorn sausages. It was absolutely gorgeous especially the risotto which I added chilli flakes to and chopped leeks, standing there for 45 minutes stirring through 2 pints of vegetable stock into arborio rice was a complete pain in the arse but going to be doing it again because it was so tasty, clean plates all round!....even forgot to take a pic - will do next time :)

Considering its WI tomorrow morning I'm just going to have some chopped fruit and yoghurt before 7pm and then nothing else afterwards maybe a few cups of tea, not going to be spending any syns even though I have them left want to give myself the best chance possible tomorrow morning :)
Hope you all have a lovely Monday evening xxxx

Kids finally kicked out the door to school :happy036:first day back after Christmas is always like world war 3 in this house :)
The scales have been extra lovely and are telling me its 3 pound off for me :banana dancer:seriously chuffed that I never have to see 17 again on my scales again (well not if I have anything to do with it) so sitting here with my cold pudding rice mixed with cherry yoghurt and grapes feeling very pleased with myself :) going to have a very smiley morning :D xx

Well done! Only 1.5 for me on week 1 so a bit disappointed but will keep on plugging away!!

I think thats brilliant although I can understand why you feel a little pee'd off, its like what I was saying yesterday after that sneaky step on the scales....but think you're a bit like me want half a stone kick start to make it worth while lol but just keep going Michelle!... 1.5 has now gone, left the building and is not welcome back...onwards and downwards from here on for me and thee!! :) :) :) xxx

Yes yes you are right I must see it that way!! I do always want a big start loss to motivate me but actually I'm so into it at the moment it doesn't matter. Trouble is as I lie in bed I work out how much I can lose by when etc and get so carried away in my slim world (am also miraculously 19 again of course)!!!!

Another good week starts here!!!
