Manuka Honey is from a New Zealand shrub so it is made in New Zealand - you can buy 5+, 10+, 12+ and 15+ strengths, and it is said to be very good for healing because of it's health and healing properties (it is said that it was discovered by the Maori's centuries ago) and it is now one of NZ biggest exports.

I am an ex nurse and lots of Dr's used to recommend patients to try this honey to help the healing process.

I have a leg ulcer at the moment which has to be re-dressed twice a week, so I am taking some Manuka honey every day to help heal the ulcer (they tend to drag on for weeks & even months sometimes).

The honey is really nice and tasty, and it's semi solid - but unfortuately it is also very expensive, ranging from £8 to £20 a jar, but if it helps to heal my leg then I don't mind paying for Manuka honey for a little while, I usually have a heaped teaspoon every day.

Does it have as much effect orally as oppose to the honey dressings? sorry just dropping by :)

Wish I hadn't read banana and honey toastie up there :( *dribbles*. If you just squish your nana in a bit after you've cooked your toast do you still have to syn it? xxx

I worked on an ENT surgical ward during my nursing years, and we had a consultant who advised patients to use Manuka honey to help their throats heal after they had had surgery, especially the oral cancer patients, so it not only tastes delicious it also helps to heal the throat (great for a sore throat with a drop of lemon juice mixed into it)....

I use the toastie bags for my banana & honey toastie, so my banana does actually 'cook' so I syn it - but squishing a banana on hot toast isn't really cooking the banana, so that should be OK.
