Loving Life!
Hi All,

Been a long time since I was in here, and look - you go and invent a new diet!! There are still some familiar names around though, which is lovely.

I've been lurking for a little while and finally plucked up the courage to order a Bumper Pack from Exante. Hopefully it will arrive on Monday and I can start to shift this bulk.

I did really well on CD. Stayed on for 5 months straight and lost 54lbs. Then I fell off the wagon and never really managed to get on it again. No matter how many times I tried, I couldn't stay 100% long enough to reach ketosis and my hunger pangs sent me to the biscuit tin *hangs head in shame*.

I've now broken the 300lb mark and, after getting a scary reading on a BP check last night, I scurried to my laptop and placed my order.

I'm 39 in May and I don't want to be fat on my 40th Birthday!!!!!

So, Exante Girls (and guys!), can I join your club please?

Yes! I love new people :) Well done on taking your first step! Take a read through the stickies there's lots of info in them and I found it helpful to read through a few of the diaries to see how others cope with various hurdles :) And finally, Good luck! :D xx

Thank you Flab-Buster (fab name btw!). I'm actually feeling quite excited by it now. Hurry up and get here parcel!!!

Why thank you :D hehe it took me a while to think of a suitable name!

The delivery is fab and very quick, next day if you order early enough. :) Exante customer care team are very good if you have any queries :)

Hi lovelyjoolz! I'm losing weight for my 40th too!
I lost quite a bit in LL a few years ago and have since tried to pick it up again but struggled to get to ketosis too...
Am on day 3 now and feel ok, determined and finally in control :) this forum has been a great help...
Best of luck on your journey to a fabulous 40 :)

Me too! I'm 40 at the beginning of June! I'm just ending my 4th week of Exante and by my sneaky peak at the scales this morning (usual weigh in is Monday) I think I may have just reached 2st off. My starting weight was 19st 7lbs! I'd love to be in the 15s by my birthday. I did LL about 5 years ago and lost 4st 3lbs in the 100 days but 2 kids and several false starts on CD later and i'm back to a stone less than my LL starting weight!!

I want to be naughty at forty not fat at forty!!

Cxx

Thanks for the welcome guys!

My OH just texted me to say that the parcel has just arrived so I can start tomorrow!!!!

newmummy - I LOVE that! Naughty at forty. Fantastic. We should start the Naughty Forties club :D

sarahlou - stay strong - plain sailing after day 5 if I remember correctly. I just hope I can make it that far!!!

I am so excited!! My little brother is getting married in August and I do not want to be the fat one in the pics!!

Good Luck xx

Exciting that your parcel has arrived! I think when you decide to do this you just want to get on with it!! Am on day 6 today and you're right, something just clicked yesterday and I feel AMAZING! So in control, not hungry, no bits of kids tea flying in my mouth, just all good - and beginning to feel like I'm going to look how i want on my 40th :)
And i would def like to be part of the naughty forties club!! It sucks being a frumpy 39 ;) x

YAY! Sarahlou! So glad you feel so well. I seriously can't wait to get that feeling. I felt on top of the world: so positive and, weirdly, I was a generally nicer person while I was in ketosis. Perhaps it's something to do with the hormones being released from the fat stores, or perhaps it's just the positive thinking that does it. Who cares - I just want to feel that way again!

So, day 1 tomorrow. Quite scary, but very exciting. Just think - I could be in a FABULOUS dress for the Christmas parties this year :D

Come on Ketosis Fairy! I need you to visit me quickly!!! :)

Ketosis fairy!! Love it!! Yes I know what you mean about feeling different... I genuinely feel more positive - not just about weight either!
Good luck for tomorrow (and the next few days) it is hard which you know all about but once you've climbed that short but steep hill it's all good :) :)
Omg Christmas dresses!!! Haven't worn a lbd for years! Won't it be great!!
You know you can do this... You certainly want it so best of luck to you x

I wonder if we generally feel better and more positive because we are taking control back in our lives? Food intake is something we should be able to control but for those of us with weight issues, we clearly can't. So to be in ketosis means that we are in control and are making a positive change which is no doubt why we all feel so much better and positive about ourselves and our lives xx

Hi

Like you I was an Ex CD'er and got fed up with feeling I was paying an awful lot of money for no support and some shakes and bars. I did lose the weight but that was down to my willpower and not anything I was getting from my CDC. I have put back on the 3 stone over a period of about 2 years, but now having started with Exante, I am getting there, the taste in my oppinion is not quite as nice as the CD shakes but they are tolerable for 1/2 the price. This website is brill for support and its free. People on here are motivating and its great to know that when you do have a slip up you wont get punished as if you were a naughty school kid.

Good Luck x

*skulks in quietly and hides at the back*

OK, so I didn't start the diet last Tuesday as planned. OH helpfully pointed out that we had dinner reservations on Saturday with old friends whom we hadn't seem for ages and I had a lunch date yesterday. I wasn't confident that I could make it through either of those events without caving in and eating, and that would be a HUGE waste of packs and therefore money. Cash is tight at the moment and I am determined to be 100% from day one until I get where I want to be, because it was shameful how much money I wasted b*ggering about with CD last time

So, today is Day One (deserving of capitals). So far I've been to pee 57 milion times, causing some raised eyebrows from colleagues :D. I had the strawberry pack for breakfast, which I found bland and pretty tasteless. But I'm fine with that - CD shakes are a bit TOO sweet and flavoured. I sometimes found them to be sickly and difficult to force down. Bland is better than noxious in any case :D

I'm really thirsty though. Pschological? Or something else? Anyhoo, it's getting the water down me. Nearly two litres of water and one cup of coffee already. Need more coffee actually, as the hunger pangs are on their way.

Really wish I could take a sleeping pill and wake up when I'm in ketosis. These next few days are so scary, I keep reminding myself of how fab I feel in Ketosis. How strong and in control I feel. I think you absolutely hit the nail on the head newmummy - taking control of ourselves and our lives really makes us feel positive. I imagine that's how people who love exercise feel all the time!!

I'm going to go look for an old thread now that I used to find inspiring. One about "two types of people" who do meal replacement diets. It's fab.

I know the one you mean, it's a great post isn't it.

I don't blame you for holding off until after your dinner dates. It is very limiting in terms of socialising doing a diet of this nature. I'm intending to come off plan for a weekend (mothers day weekend) as I have a friend coming for lunch (I could do a keto-friendly meal) then I have a girls night out the same night (could bs difficult depending on where we go) and then finally mothers day lunch a day later. I am quite worried about getting back into the diet afterwards but will have to deal with it when it happens.

I hope these first few days pass quickly for you!! Once you see the scales start to shift, you'll get that original buzz back.

Good luck!

I did LL and lost 6 stone, and then I did CD for about five months and lost around 4.5 to 5 stone...can't really remember, but I've put some on again. Tried continually to get back on CD, but without luck. I actually prefer the Exante packs - I couldn't bear the CD shakes and lived on chocolate tetra and mint choc bars. I really love the Exante bars and I've just ordered some porridge, as I bought one to try and it was pretty good. Far, far superior to CD porridge which was the most vile thing I have genuinely ever tasted - I thought that about the LL one too though!

As for the shake being bland, I think that the taste becomes more pronounced the further on you get, I swear, as I liken it to when I've stuffed myself stupid and things just don't taste as 'in focus'!!! LOL I know that I mean! And when you are on a diet, such as WW or SW, the taste of food is savoured because that's all you are getting I suppose. I think if I use a bit more water, it's obviously watered down a bit more. I tend to use about 200 mls rather than 250 mls.

Good luck with it - I'm onto day 3 (again) tomorrow and I just am determined to get through Friday/Saturday without having my usual bottle of red wine. I am going to have a meal on Sunday, as my au pair from Australia arrives and we are taking her out for Sunday lunch, and I think it would be a bit churlish to sit with a black coffee, and she might think I'm extremely strange!! ;)

Wishing you luck with it - just remember to keep coming on here and reading, as I think that tends to focus my mind....that and my old mantra "it's only food, and tomorrow is another day"....and my new one "11 stone....11 stone....11 stone...." ad infinitum.....:D

I read that post too and loved it.
There's always some occasion coming up where it would be a bit odd not to eat so if we wait for them all to pass we will wait forever to start the diet. If we pass up every social invitation we'll get miserable and dipping in and out of ketosis makes it so much harder.
Don't worry about having a meal out - most places it's very easy to eat keto-friendly. If something comes with carbs just ask politely to swap it for salad or veg, I've never been refused yet. Be careful of low fat dressings or sauces as they can have hidden carbs, olive oil and vinegar is a safer bet. A meal like this won't take you out of ketosis so you can just drop straight back onto the diet straight away without going through the yukky transition. Have done this a few times on vlcd and it's never caused any problem or seemed to affect weight loss noticeably. I know it's not on the plan but seems to work fine.
