Exante WILL help me lose 3 stone

FOOOOOOOOOD

FOOD REVIEWS

I've decided to make an ongoing list of the foods I've tried with reviews and tips for making them nicer.

Green = Yummy
Orange = OK
Red = Blurgh

Diet Pizza -
I really enjoyed this, it was my first meal back to exante after 3 years so it was a welcome change from the old soups, shakes, bars plan. I definitely made the base too thick as it was kind of soggy in the middle. I even turned half way to try and cook it a bit better and it was still not right. In future I want to make it nice and thin and hopefully it will crisp up a bit better. The greaseproof paper worked a dream and it slid right off the tray.

Lemon and Raspberry Shake -
Creamy, filling, but I don't like flavours this sharp.

Strawberry and banana Shake -
Much more to my taste but still not my fave. Always make shakes with a blender, or a shaker at least, stirring isn't enough!

Mushroom Soup -
Made it up with 200ml of water and in the blender. It was soooo creamy and yummy. Added onion flavour, salt and pepper. The salt was what made this for me otherwise maybe a bit too sickly with the creaminess.

Carbonara -
Carbs by name, but not by nature this time, can't believe they have my on of my all time fave foods on Exante! Made it with cold water by accident so heated on the stove, took quite a while to get it creamy but worth the wait. Flavoured with garlic granules. YUM!

Lemon and Yoghurt Bar -
Not keen at all. Texture was fine, yoghurt was a welcome addition but far, far too lemony for my mouth.

Blueberry shake -
YUK. I did not like this. For me it tasted like parma violets which I hate.

Mousakka -
This wasn't half bad :) added a load of salt n pepper, maybe a bit less pepper next time

Spag bol -
I think this was kind of similar to the mousaka - still quite yummy, added garlic granules and a cheeky bit of parmesan (naughty)

<img src="http://www.minimins.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=172149"/> Need to remember this !!!!

It's so true that. I put way too much pressure on myself. 3months ago if I had taken a sensible approach to weightloss I would pretty much be at target. Instead I have 14lbs to go!!

Day 9

So I weighed in today and stayed at a loss of 4LBS for the last week. Not the worst, not the best, it's s step in the right direction :)

Today has been really up and down for me. I've ended up working 11am-130am between the pub and making these dresses. I wanted to cheat so badly earlier but got through the wall with coke zero and energy tablets :) so glad I din't cheat now as I have a family thing tomorrow that will involve drinks and food (all low carb to stay in ketosis - hopefully follow the WS for the day + zero carb booze)

Anyway

Today I've had:

- Blueberry Smoothie

- Spag Bol

- And this....

I decided to finally do something more exciting with my final meal of the day, to treat myself for getting through a stage earlier where I was so tempted to cheat. So I made an extane burger in a bun that I'd seen on another exante group earlier. I did cheat a little, I added a few bits of onion and about 5g or cheese to make it look more appealing :) and taste better obvs.

To make -

- separate half a pack of the pizza base mix in to one bowl, make up as directed, (remembering to half the water quantity) make in to two bases and pop in the oven on the grease-proof.
- separate half a pack of the burger mix in to one bowl, make up as directed, (remembering to half the water quantity) make in to one patty, and fry in frylight as directed.
- when both are nearly ready, make up half the tomato as directed.

SIMPLE :) - still only using one pack over all if nothing is added :) x

That's so exciting honey-J :D I'll prob just feel skinnier then haha x

The burger with the pizza base is inspired - great idea Biz! Dunno if I'll get around to trying that, but if I do re-order some Exante (I've got 2 months supply), I'll make sure to get those ;)

DAY TEN - refeed day

DOUBLE FIGURES!!!!! :D :D

I've decided that instead of a refeed week every three weeks, I'm going to try a refeed day once a week or even every two weeks. This is basically to accommodate any social or work based events that I can't really avoid. And life is too short not to have fun, I find drinking and eating fun, so this is what I'm doing ;) I had a family thing today, I'm at my boyfriends brothers doing the bridesmaids fitting. So drink and real food was inevitable. I didn't want to end up resenting the diet either, I think striking the balance between diet and life is important. And being realistic is the only way you will stay on track.

Today I've eaten:

Breakfast - exante vanilla shake
Lunch - chicken breast
Dinner- Turkish takeaway: kofte, chicken, lamb and salad

Drinks - 2 x prosecco, 2x Jim beam and coke zero

As its my day off, I decided not to monitor calories, but to keep my carbs low enough for ketosis. My carb intake was no more than 30g including the drinks. Not bad at all.

Today has made me feel really positive about the diet and its effects on my eating long term. I allowed some 'cheating' - but only with informed choices. By assessing the situation, knowing there was going to be temptations I was able to swerve them by planning ahead. I told my boyfriends family beforehand about the low carb and they were really supportive and suggested the Turkish meal. I took my own drink so that I could have coke zero and spirits. I think predicting a cheat and planning for it goes along way. I am making better choices. And today o have eaten whatever I wanted to, never felt hungry and still ate nowhere near as much as usual. I'm sat here after drinking 5 drinks and I'm not craving crisps or pizza!! Am I a new woman??? I hope so :D :D xx

Hey QB I'm the same with the 'food weeks' I don't do the week, just go to whatever lunch/dinner is going on socially or with work and make a sensible food choice, it's working really well for me so far, the scales don't seem to have been negatively affected by the odd salad/meat and veg dinner and some weeks I've had 3 lunches out with work. It's making me feel much more confident for changing my habits lonterm for when I come off Exante, whenever that will be ! You're doing great :) .

Forward planning is always a good idea, QueenB. Then you're not slipping as such, rather you're enjoying a social occasion and at the same time minimising any potential damage to your diet plan. Keeping the carbs low is always a good idea because you're much less likely to binge either when you are out or when you get back home. Well done LOL xx

Day 11

I ended up staying at my boyfriends brothers all day again yesterday, working on the bridesmaids dresses. Safe to say, my weekend wasn't much of a weekend, just sewing and pinning and sewing some more. Managed to get two of the three dresses 3/4 finished though so progress at least.

Again, I found it hard to exante when staying at someone else's house. I had planned to have a shake for breakfast then leave before lunch, but had so much work left to do, we had to stay another day - i decided to have a full day off the packs and concentrate on keeping myself in ketosis so that I could join in with family dinners over the day. Each exante pack has 20g of carbs so if I'm Not following TS it's not worth using up 20g of carb allowance on a small meal.

For the day I ate:

Brunch - 1 x pack of cooked chicken pieces

Dinner - Sunday roast - chicken, lots of veg, cauliflower cheese, small amount of roast potatoes, 1 x Yorkshire pudding.

Drinks - 1 x coke zero, 1 x tea, 2 x prossecco.

I weighed everything I ate and monitored my carb in take throughout the day keeping below 50g.

Again, not a total solution day but a massive difference to my usual eating habits and not compromising ketosis. I think me beating these none TS days is helping me feel more confident about my future, even if it's not helping me lose weight now and fast.
X

That's really encouraging to know green as no one I speak to has really tried this kind of plan, especially not successfully. Most people tell me it's a bad idea as when they have allowed some food they've fallen off completely. Everyone is different tho. Hopefully this can work for me too!

That's exactly how I've felt about the long term. It's made me see I can eat smaller portions or low carb and still be satisfied, and that I can have a drink without needing to eat! I'm usually ravenous after a glass of wine craving crisps or pizza.

I'm back on TS today, it's 11 and I've only had one pack and a boullion and I'm not hungry? What's happening? It's so strange haha x

Thanks SS!! It's like exante damage control! I have a night out this Sunday with friends for a birthday so already planning this, need to find out if there will be food or if it's a drinking thing. If drinks I'll prob eat a big chicken salad again and tell myself I'm only allowed low carb again... I know I can do it now :) xx

We're trying to change old habits for new and better ones that will last all the way through weight loss to maintenance and beyond. New ways of thinking about and relating to food and social occasions.

Many of us have a sugar AND salt problem. Either or more commonly both. Food manufacturers know this. If they don't hook us with sweeties they hook us with savoury snacks! A lot of salty snacks are also high in carbs and starches and chock-full of lethal trans fats. We're fighting an industry that is hell-bent on making us overeat! Ha Ha xx

Day 12

PHEW!!!

That was easier than I imagined actually. I thought after a weekend on the hard stuff (real food;)) I'd be craving it today but I really wasn't. I had the day off so a long lie in. Managed to get through the majority of the day on one pack and drinks. I think the fact I kept busy helped a lot. I sorted my entire room and got all my clothes in order to make life a bit easier day to day. I feel really refreshed after a big sort! I was literally doing this and other "life admin" until 11pm this evening, and didn't get fed up once! :) Then went to the gym to do a few leg weights. Managed to lift my heaviest ever on the leg press - 100KG. So impressed with myself and what my body can do :) all in all a good TS day with little to no hunger or cravings.

OH AND!!!!! I booked a holiday to Ibiza!!!! 5th June :D so even more reason to be a skinny mini!! Only going for 3 days to surprise my friend on her bday. Her boyfriend is taking her for a week and booked an amazing villa. Me and my boyfriend can't get that much time off so we're going to surprise her there :) just have to roll up for a night out :D so excited!! Oh and then fly back an be at a wedding the next day. ALL THINGS I WANT TO BE SLIM FOR!!!

TODAY'S SUMMARY:

Breakfast - chocolate coffee with walden pancake syrup to sweeten and toffee shake instead of milk (only 2tsps - i opened a pack and just used a little, will keep this pack for my coffees. I actually whizzed the shake up this time with a bit of cold water, rather than scooping direct to the coffee which goes a bit weird)

Lunch - Cup of boullion

Dinner - Shepherds Pie and Chocolate gooey pudding. OH MY GAWD! How glad am I that I waited to have the packs meaning I could have dinner and pud!!! YUMMY!

Here it is :)

I MUST DRINK MORE WATER TOMORROW. I don't feel like I'm drinking as much as I was at the start. I'm just forgetting to as I don't feel rough or hungry. Might set reminders or something to drink more :) x

You're nailing this Bizzle - so lovely to read someone doing a fairly extreme diet and managing to have food when the occasion calls for it and then get straight back in it.

I really think you've got this :)
