I can't even believe I am writing this but I used to run every week, only 5k at a time about 3 times a week but since starting ss I've been told not to exercise on it & I really miss it!! Just wondered what stage peeps r on when they exercise & what the loses r. Don't want to go up a stage so that I can run again & end up losing less!

Thanks xx

I'm doing Step 2, so I have more calories every day. I used to be a real couch potato but then, after 3-4 weeks (I felt too weak before that) I felt the urge (yep, a real urge!) to exercise and I have now completed the 30-day Shred twice, bearing in mind that I was very unfit when I started.

It did slow down my losses at the beginning but the inch loss was amazing. I am actually slimmer that I was at the same weight when I was younger. All the clothes I used to wear at the same weight are too big.

How far into the diet are you?

I'm supposedly just about to go into week 6 but haven't been sticking to it very well lately. Have been feeling isolated as used to spend my spare time running, going swimming or cycling & now have all this spare time & there's been far too much temptation at home so have prob nibbled far too much so wld really like to get back to the exercise but know I also need to do something food wise as exercise alone has never helped me lose weight

Well done on the 30 day shred that's fab! Have started it a couple of times but admit never got v far. Were u on step 2 when u did that?

It seems to me that your mind and body need this exercise, especially as it is a way to socialise for you as well. I would have a chat with your CDC if I were you, see what she would advise. If she doesn't know, insist that she asks HQ for advice. You don't have to cycle/run like a maniac but if you miss it, it means you should be able to go back on it, even if on a higher plan.

The first time I did the Shred, I was on Step 2, yes. The second time, I was calorie counting for 2/3 of it and then started on Step 2 again. I don't think I could do it on SS as I am a miserable wreck on SS or SS+ But then again I never tried! I think exercise can 'hinder' (it's not really the word as you still lose!) weightloss, even on a normal diet. My mother is following a healthy eating plan as she wants to lose 1st. She goes to the gym 3 times a week and her losses aren't very big at all, but she is melting in terms of inches. The same thing happened to me on the Shred, except that I would still lose in the region of 2lbs a week.

How are you feeling in terms of energy? You must be feeling quite well if you're on Week 6. And we all have wobbly moment. My nemesis is the 'I can't reach the next stone down' type of thoughts... I always wobble if I don't reach the next stone when I want to and have to wait another week

I am totally the same! I am awful coming up to reaching the nxt stone down! I am sure I self sabotage as am so convinced I will never get there! Am 1 & 3/4 lb away from getting down into the nxt weight bracket & it is driving me mad! So want to b there by nxt wks weigh in.
Spoke to my CDC today & sts this wk as just been so rubbish but have decided to go onto step 2 instead of ss as think it'll suit me better as can still eat out if careful & can excercise, I must b mad but am looking forward to having a run!!! I don't run far & am not v fast but I like the sense of achievement u get from going that bit further/faster each time. I just wish it was enough to make me lose wright on its own but always find exercise is never enough on its own so fingers xed it works!
Know what u mean about ss, I have been so miserable on it.
How's ur wk going? X

You may be disappointed by your STS from this week but given that you weren't 100%, I'd think it's pretty good! It might in fact help you lose more for your next WI. I'd think 2lbs is easily achievable, so don't lose heart! :)

I love Step 2. My losses are still rather good, although not as impressive as that of SSers. But I can have my little meal in the evening and it helps me through the day :) And yes, it means I can exercise a little and it's done wonder to my confidence and energy levels. I say go for it, very slowly at first so you can gauge whether you get enough energy. Sadly, exercise won't make you lose weight without a calorie deficit. BUT similarly I find that exercising while dieting gives me a sort of glow: my skin is brighter and tighter, I feel I could conquer the world sometimes :D

My week is pretty tough at the moment diet-wise. I'm back from a week away where I ate a bit too much  and going back into the swing of things is pretty difficult. I had horrible headaches yesterday (carb withdrawals) and I fantasise about food lol.

Why don't you give Step 2 a try for a couple of weeks? If you feel that the losses aren't good enough for you, you can 'easily' go back to SS as on Step 2 people usually are in ketosis (I know I am).

Hiya, thanks for ur reply. How r u doing getting back on it after ur hol? I've been awful, went onto step 2 but ended up quitting & have loved getting back into exercise but of course not lost anything in fact think I have gained but have not plucked up the courage to look at the scales yet! I really don't know what to do am thinking of going back to it & thinking of starting again today but can't help shaking this feeling that healthy eating & exercise has got to b better for u. Xx

Hi Pinkcupcake :) I'm back on track now. In fact, I had a nice loss last week :)

It may be that CWP isn't for you! There is no shame in saying that some diets are better suited to some people. I know I'd be useless on WW or SW for example, because I'm too impatient. :)

Have you tried looking into other diet? CWP can be expensive when you're not in the zone (I hould know, I've been there myself  ) If you really want to give the CWP a try, why not first start by doing it for a certain amount of time, say, 4 weeks?

Or have you tried going DOWN the steps? I threw myself into it cold chicken but if I had to do it again, I would start with Step 3 then 2, etc. It's so hard to go from eating normally to only 3 meal replacements a day!

Good luck hunny, and don't hesitate to come back on here if you have more questions. The "strugglers and restarters" section of the forum is quite good too :)
