I wanted to share with you something that has really helped me get my head into the right place before doing this diet.​

Indian medicine has a concept called chakra's which they see as energy points that run up your spine. Each point is a different chakra and is related to a different emotion or action.​

Anyway the point is that their theory is that if each chakra is alligned then you are happy and healthy. This is definitely true.​

Basically it is a way of assessing how you are doing and what areas of your life may benefit from a bit of work. What work you do is then up to you.​

Ignoring the hippyness (if that's not your thing) just consider the following questions:​

Chakra 1:​

Do you get enough sleep?
Do you eat only good healthy food?
Do you get enough exercise?
Do you look after your money wisely?​

Chakra 2:​

Do you express your emotions honestly?
Do you allow yourself to get angry?
Do you relax and enjoy sex?​

Chakra 3:​

Do you feel in control of your life?
Do you think you have power?
Do you feel significant?​

Chakra 4:​

Do you easily love others?
Do you love yourself?​

Chakra 5:​

Do you say what you want?
Do you think you are heard?
Do you think your voice is strong?​

Chakra 6:​

Do you use your imagination?
Do you do any art or design?
Do you express yourself creatively?​

Chakra 7:​

Do you belong to a religion/spiritual path?
Do you feel connected to others?​

If you said no to any of these, particularly a few in one area then it might be something you want to look at.

The basic gist is that if you:
1) Look after your basic needs
2) Express your emotions and sexuality
3) Know you have power
4) Love yourself and others
5) Speak the truth
6) Express yourself creatively
7) Feel connected to others
You will be happy.

I know for me I was very bad at looking after myself (chakra 1) and loving myself (chakra 4).

It was actually through discovering a spirituality (chakra 7) and realising the life wasn't something that happened to me - but something I could change (chakra 3) that I sorted out the other things.

If you do have problems in a particular area then there are all sorts of ways to sort it out - from counselling to yoga to wearing the right colour clothes!

Funny I was thinking about needing to find some balance in my life a few days ago, your post has given me something to work on :)

Am glad it has helped. I think the thing that I have realised is that, for a diet to work, it's not just about eating less food and moving more. It is about learning to love yourself, learning to express yourself etc.
