I'm not having a full Crohns flare but my bloods are showing some inflammation and I'm now having severe reflux. . Its calmed down a lot since last week and I can manage to drink/eat little at a time

Wondering how other Crohnies or ibd sufferers approach plan and an episode? ?

I've cut out fruit. I had a little passata today. Otherwise minimal fruit and veg for the time being

Seen doc and got zantac/gaviscon!

Anyone else trying to stick to plan and combat ibd symptoms? ?

This is what I posted last time when you asked not sure if you remembered

I have Crohns as well I was only diagnosed last November at the age of 38.

Do you know what your triggers are?

I have been following SW for near 2 years but not lost a lot as I am such a slow loser and my body doesn't seem to process food properly. It never has done.

Try white rice or white pasta as that is usually safe for Crohns. I am lucky I can eat fruit and veg at least I don't seem to have bad reactions.

Eggs are also considered safe I think basically white low fibre food is good in an attack

Do you have an ibd nurse you can ask for advice.

I was also told keep bland nothing spicy or chilli hot would that help.

I was also told I was probably lactose intolerant so I don't have normal milk cream soft cheese cream cheese or yogurts anymore.

I think the 0% Greek yogurt is ok for me but some days it isn't so I rarely have it

I don't no as I've had it 12 years no longer under gastro where I currently live

Stress is the thing that's setting me off currently!

I am so sick of white pasta and more white pasta but know its the best bet for now

Thanks xx

Maybe you should ask to be referred again ?

I have lost 6.5lbs in two weeks due to stress and it took me 2 years to lose 21lbs !!!!

I am hoping my stomach settles down this week back to nomal

Trying hard to have my super free right now but am paying the price, so unwell

Really want to continue with plan but finding its making me so poorly :(

Gp just says need fibre, so am pushing on with it

Frustrating!

I was literally just about to rant about this on my thread! I was doing so well and then my IBS decided to bloat me up and make me feel awful... Causing me to eat comfort food and completely let myself go off track. Apparently IBS and CD sufferers have it the hardest when losing weight and god do I know it! I'm going to look through my IBS diets and cut out all the things I really should be. SW seems too full of carbs and I'm wondering if this is causing me to be worse and maybe the dairy. I truly do feel your pain, right now I'm living off herbal tea, relaxing with serious belly and back pain, searching through the forums to feel a bit better about not being alone.
Its a hard life sometimes and belly problems that cause weight loss issues should just die and leave us alone!

Its a pain. I know I need fibre but I then have to take so many medications and constantly have situations where I'm running to find a loo!

Gonna try hard this week but go red maybe see if less carbs helps at all. Supplement with prunes

Xxx

I know that is my issue too, they tell you to eat fibre, then on top of that give you laxatives, constipation relief and all kinds of medications which usually leave me feeling worse. I think I try to rely more so on herbal teas now and laxido sachets. All the medications made me worse. Yeah maybe that will help you, I'm thinking of cutting down on carbs and dairy for the next few days, being a bit stricter. I hope you feel better xxx

I am also having a bad time so I have gone lacto free again as I had been increasing my cheese intake and I have been eating it daily again instead of having it as a weekend treat.

I am the opposite at the moment and I am so bloated as I am just not 'going' properly so I know I am not processing properly and I am debating taking some laxatives to clear things out

I've been using movicol lactulose and micro enemas

I am feeling a bit better. . But the large amounts of super free don't agree with me right now

Gonna play with a red week and see how I go x

Hmm not going well. Gonna cut fruit & vegetables out and stick to free food for a week

Rice, potatoes. . No wholemeal bread

Fingers crossed x

Mine is not going well either. I've stopped with my diet this week as I think I actually have a gastric bug or stomach migraine as this definitely isn't my IBS. I don't want to eat anything and have lost pounds dramatically. Apparently there is a gastric bug going around, maybe you've got something similar?
Good luck and hopefully you can get yourself back on track. Don't stress yourself out, just try to get your stomach feeling better :) xx

I was diagnosed with crohns about 10 years ago plus IBS. I was on steroids which made me put on a lot of weight. Since my crohns went into remission I use loperimide, buscopan and librax to cope with any symptoms as they happen. The huge amount of veg I was consuming was really affecting me but this combination of medication is really helping. I have managed to lose 2 1/2 stone to get to target. Diet can play a big part in bid but the right medication is important too. Hope this helps.

Hi there have you been tested recently or at all for the bacterium H Pylori by your GP as sounds like it may be that Ive had it a couple of times in the past more recently with having a stressful time with my lovely Mam being diagnosed with Cancer i dont have IBS but i have had a gastroscopy which showed a lot of inflammation plus a sliding hiatus hernia as well as the H Pylori so had treatment for that and I take Lansoprazole daily first thing half hour before breakfast and Gaviscon if i need to later in the day which i haven't needed much since being treat for the bacterium...worth asking your GP?

love Dee x

Currently the doctor is just giving me laxatives. That combined with diet is not good

Trying to keep it simple right now just rice, potatoes lots of water

I was on steroids for 16 weeks last year when I was first diagnosed with Crohns

Yes I put on 9lbs but my pain and stomach problems did ease off

Currently I am on methotrexate and folic acid to control things.

I will say it again I really think you should ask to be referred to a gastro specialist so they can do proper tests and get you the treatment you need.

My gp won't even consider referral to Gastro right now. Says its just stress my own fault!

So trying various things and keeping up the movicol regime in the meantime!

I would be fuming no one should be left like that's

You are entitled to a second opinion on the nhs

I would see someone else and insist.

It is your right

I agree, it's different here in Cyprus as we don't really have gps as such. I went straight to a gastro and had a whole barrage of tests before I was diagnosed. Ibd is hard to diagnose without proper testing. Keep at them till you get a referral. The tests aren't the nicest but once it's under control you get your life back.

Hello, Not that I know of but it might be worth me going to the doctor and bringing it up or to just keep bugging them about my stomach until I get some better answers. I got diagnosed with IBS but that was it really, they put me on meds which didn't work so I kept going back, but all they'd do is print off stuff about IBS and give me laxatives. I gave up with doctors and looked online for help of how to control it. When I lost weight it sorted its self out majorly! But suddenly out of no where this has happened. It's feeling pretty extreme tbh, i've been sick all week, not eating a lot due to constant nausea and stomach pain. My back hurts severly,It's been a pretty unbareable week but I hate going to the doctors about it as sometimes I wonder if they even care or know what they are on about. But as this is getting quite bad I might definitely go in as they always say to if it lasts more than 72 hours. When I go I shall return back to this thread and let you know :)
Thank you for the advice, it is always appreciated x
