From Maximus to Minimus - coming soon!

Hey you two!!!

Behave!!!

In Steves defence, leopard skin was very fashionable once...;)

:8855: Gel seat gets a puncture... you've been sitting on it... gel leaks out on your trousers... you get off bike and walk funny cos yer bum aches and every one points and sniggers :ashamed0005:

Be warned Steve !!

I'm used to the pointing and sniggering anyway Dawn;)

Hmmmm...it's well documented on here that I had an albatross down there once...

Afternoon Steve,

Just letting you know I didn't drown today :D

Actually I blooming well enjoyed myself! I'm starting to see why people do regular exercise...it's never appealed to me before now. But it was so exciting to feel my muscles aching lol! It's not something I'm used to. And I must say I've been on a bit of a high all morning.

I imagine it's similar to the buzz (or fizz ;)) you get from completing a particulary long or difficult walk.

I hope this newly found enthusiasm lasts

Well, I've harped on about it long enough to anyone who is prepared to listen. It is the body magic and REGULAR exercise that will see weightloss and wellbeing go hand-in-hand. It might have something to do with the endorphins or whatever they're called. The sense of achievement.

With the walking it is not so much the distance (I do like the 12-15 mile treks, but most certainly the height and extremely steep walking is more satisfying).

My favourite walk last year was one of the shortest, and on the face of it looked straight-forward. It included two absolute killer climbs, and I absolutely breezed up them, passing people who were out on their feet on the way. I even reached the tops and came back to escort a few of them up there.

This was a euphoric moment for me, as on my first walk, I could barely breathe and keep going up a long drag.

As well as the splendid view on top of peaks, there is the euphoria - for that's what it is - of reaching the top. I can well understand the obsession with mountain climber and fell walkers etc.

As for the bike, I was invited to join a cycling club, but to be honest, they have the personality of a wet blanket, and have as much fun as an undertaker at happy hour.

Besides, the bike is for the times I cannot get out and walk. I will do 30-40 miles minimum a week as it takes less than 10 minutes to do a mile:cool:

I'm going to a proper cycle accessory shop at the weekend, though I might change my bike as there are one or two aspects I am unhappy with (apart from saddle-sore:eek:)

100% as I am committed to it, but also can get some weights and cycling in, even on cold and frosty nights when I choose not to walk. The pedalling is doing my calf the world of good too.

Sadly, they do not do padded leopard-print cycling shorts.... well, they do, but I want the rear-end padded:cool:

Evening Steve x

Shame about the bike :( but it's got to be completely right or you'll never be happy with it and it might put you off riding it. Best to have a word with the shop and see what they suggest.

I guess with the exercise thing, the key word is 'regular'. This is the thing I have to get my head around. I need to get into a routine of doing something on a regular basis, not just as and when it takes my fancy. I really did enjoy the swim today. And I did feel good all day for having done it. My next thing to try is the gym, which I'm also a bit nervous about, but it's certainly a lot easier going with Sarah.

On the cycling shorts front (or rear ;)) ...leave it with me hunni! I bet I can find some for you! Might have to be tiger print instead of leopard tho...!

GGGrrrr!!! (remember Tony the Tiger and his Frosties?)

I reckon you might get the bug. Tonight was bloody freezing, fog, frost and pitch black. I jumped on my bike, and did about 5-6 miles whilst by baked potato was doing in the oven.

I had a bow of piping hot home made (veg) soup whilst filling the batch, whilst waiting the water cooling I did weights, then had the potato with beans & cottage cheese and a plate of salad.

Then dived in the bath!

It might have been so easy to come in, curl up, put the telly or PC on and vegetate. I have to keep doing this and remind myself why!

I don't want a gain at WI and find something to blame it on! - at least if I have a bad week this week, it will not be for the lack of trying......as you know I'm very trying:p

Te he ... I read that as 'Extreme Sleep Walking' Must get my eyes checked :)

Actually, you might have hit on something there. Maybe there isn't enough hours in the day/evening to exercise and I need to sleep walk:eek:

Think happy thoughts Sarah, The countryside a beach anything but that!!

Glutton for punishment?? ;)

Marginally better, in that they don't leave as much to the imagination.
But not a lot.

How about this kind of thing instead?

Well, "normal" isn't the word I'd use in this context, Dabbie.

But yeah, it's pretty much what you usually find him wearing.
When I've seen him, anyway.

Oh, and he drops / breaks / stands on things a lot too.

Be fair Sarah...it's normally only Saturday nights!!!
