Gail's diary and thoughts on her SW journey

Nope. The me being N bit might be just WRONG, but what I said isn't.
Believe it.

Morning Gail, just wanted to say thanks for the lovely message you left for me on my diary......very much appreciated.

I am really interested to see how you get on with the hypno thingy......I am sure you are not that difficult to work with ;)

So glad you had a good time and not panicking about the off plan eating and subsequent gain. You will soon have knocked that back off.

Have a great day sweetie xx

He's besotted with you, woman.
He can't believe his luck that someone like you would want to be with him.
Trust me. It's true.

(Damn. Is that me being N again? I'm going to have to do something about this!)
Well said Sarah - and yes unfortunately that really does come across as NICE - in capitals!

Ooh Gail hypnotherapy eh? Sounds interesting. Do you think it helped?

Dawn, your post about socialising really struck a chord with me as I'm sure it did with other readers. I used to hate that feeling of trying to find things to wear and hating the way you looked and finding it difficult to relax while out. Now I bet you are feeling ace and you know that Gwynn (as he probably always was even though you doubted it) is thinking Cor am I lucky to have this hottie on my arm! Xxxx

Hi Gail,

Weekends off plan are fine if you enjoyed it sis!! ;)

You work long and hard all week hun and you really deserve to let your hair down on your days off :party0023:

I never worry about you if you gain as you always have a plan of attack, and you're always right back on it again! :worthy:

But just in case...:whip::whip::whip:

P.S....off to MK tomorrow!!!!!!!!! :wee::wee::wee::wee::wee:
Ooh! so how come when I'm off plan I'm a blimp/porker? ;) very unfair Dawnie:p
Of course I will!

Might even send you a pic...x

(Steve...I was talking to Gail, ok?)

I would just like one pic of you with clothing! Just one, where I don't have to make sure I'm alone when I open it:eek:

Anyway, enjoy Magic Kingdom tomorrow!

Now to be serious for a second, Gail's attitude is top notch. I'm gonna share it - albeit on a bigger scale. Whatever damage I do/did in 2 weeks off plan, will be put right too!

Thanks Gail - I owe you;)

Hi Gail xxx

Couldn't decide whether to pop by or not, cos I don't want you to feel obliged to reply cos you're so busy sweetie x

So I'm here, but you're not to reply, ok? Wait till u have some free time and then fill us in on your weeks events. Maybe on Sunday, after wi?

JAnyway, it was just to say I hope you're having a really good week, and wish you a more chilled out weekend sis xx

Maybe phone u over the weekend if you're about, and got 2 hours to spare ;) xxx

Just sending good wishes Gail, I know you are busy. xx :)

Rubbish? What rubbish? ;)

Ok. Busy week :(. Not looking like it's going to get any better for the next month or so at least :(. Am not doing that well SW wise at the moment because I'm just not eating enough meals (and therefore snacking more or rather having meals of junk food) however in weight loss wise it's going ok. Which worries me a bit because I need to be eating regularly to stop me snacking. I've only had more than 1 meal a day this week on maybe one or two days from memory.

I am now reflecting on the hypnotherapy which I don't think has helped much. I didn't get the feeling that the man really cared in very much about me and if he contacts me I'm going to tell him that's why I wouldn't go back. I think the main advice that he gave me was to start exercising regularly - I told him that I enjoy exercise and it makes me feel good but I'm struggling to fit it in at the moment however he said but weight loss is about balancing what goes in and what is burnt up (I told him that it would make me more stressed if I was having to fit that in - it's not really rocket science is it though - if I had to give advice to someone trying to lose weight, I'd tell them to eat less of the wrong things and do more exercise - that wasn't what I needed). I told him that the purpose of hypnotherapy was not weight loss but about getting and maintaining control of my food intake (and what types of food I eat - because I know the weight loss will follow if I get control of my food) but he just didn't seem to get it and kept talking about how amazing I would feel if I got to 'Everest' versus 'camp 4'. I agree with him that would be a real buzz but I said to him that trying to get control of my food in a more sustainable way (ie the long term goal of maintaining) was more important as I didn't feel the buzz of 'getting to Everest' would sustain my motivation forever. He just didn't seem to understand that but I am pretty certain that I am right. Getting to target is the easy bit IMO, keeping it off is the difficult bit. Anyway, of the 2 hours that I spent with him, only about 20 mins was hypnotherapy - the rest was us talking and then him saying 'I'm not quite sure what to do with you'. The only thing that I wonder may have helped was that I am feeling more full than I did (one of my reported goals to him) - I think he did a little bit of the 'hypnoband' stuff with me. I didn't want a hypnoband but I do want to be able to recognise when I'm full (which I often don't at the moment). I think I've been getting the sensations of being full a bit more but (a) I'm not sure that I've eaten enough meals to know that yet and (b) if I am recognising that I'm full, I'm not listening to that ! So, not sure whether to not bother again or to try someone else ????

Anyway, this week I lost 5 lb (which is everything from last weeks gain and 0.5 lb more). I'm pleased with that (12 stone exactly) but it was a slightly late weigh in today (which makes a small difference) and I'm yo-yoing at the moment big style. So, next week I am aiming for a STS or a small loss to take me back into the 11's for the second or 3rd time !!! I'm pretty certain there is still a small downward trend but it's been very slow recently !!!

See you around (when I've got time - sorry !)

Gail xxx

Well done on the 1.5 lbs Gail, that's heartening. I find eating regular meals difficult when I'm out working and sometimes when I'm out late and hungry MacDonalds wraps seem very tempting. So now I take a clingfilm covered bowl of porridge oats, seeds, nuts and dried fruit with me and persuade kind cafe owners to sell/give me a cup of hot water as well as my coffee which I cover oats with and let it steep. It's a really and filling meal and stops me feeling hungry. I also carry apples which if I am really heading for a snack I eat instead. If I was even more organised I'd carry a flask of hot water and of course if I was office based the whole thing would be a doddle. Not my idea, one of the No S ones, but I've opinched it and think it works.

Mind you, an officious woman in MacDonalds wouldn't let me have water last week, she said it was against policy as I might burn myself.......what a Jobsworth. I'm in the area next week and thought about asking again and when she refuses taking out a notebook to ask her name, muttering about mystery shoppers.......;) :D

She has the last laugh though, coffee flavoured porridge doesn't really cut it! :(

Hi Gail, sorry to hear things are so busy for you at them moment. The hypnotherapy guy sounds like a bit of an idiot to be honest, we all know we need to exercise which like you said is not why you went.

Well done on your 5lb off, that's great! Just do what you can this week... It's so hard to diet when you've got so much going on in your life and I think you're doing well to even attempt to stick to plan.

You could try another hypnotherapist? Maybe one that does the ban hypno but explain you don't want that exactly, just more work on knowing when you're full? I know that's an issue that I have too and it would be much easier to lose weight if I could control this.

Best of luck for this week,

Becky x

Oh yes, I meant to say that the hypnotherapy guy wouldn't inspire me much either. There may be someone better? x :)

Hi Gail

Sorry your hypno-guy did not work out. Have you considered a Paul McKenna CD? A terrible title, but it gets good reviews

I Can Make You Thin (Book and CD): Amazon.co.uk: Paul McKenna: Books

I think it is very compatible with SW in that it teaches you to savour every mouthful and stop eating when you have had enough. If you listen to it with earphones in bed, you will get a good sleep and it will not take up any time of your busy day. I have used his discs for relaxation and stress relief and think they are good. I usually conk out so can't tell you half of what he says lol

Also, you really need to get an avatar pic of some kind. It looks like there is a ghost on the sunny bus

hi gail thanks for popping into my diary x well done on ur loss this week, my friend is having hypnotherapy she has 10 sessions booked  she has had 2 so far and said she doesn't feel so hungry she lost 5lbs the first week, she seems quite happy with it but think it depends on the person that does it she has a lady so that might make a difference, hope you have a good week
love val xx

Well done on the loss Gail - call me cynical but I think it was to do with your choices and busy/hectic lifestyle that lost the weight rather than rather than Billy Bullsh*t's hypnotherapy;)

So 20 minutes hypnosis out of 120? - not bad, 1/6 of the time therefore 5/6 waffle. At least my waffling is free:cool:

You tried it, and if it works for some then great, same with patches, and gums for stopping smoking. I think they were a waste and I just went cold turkey. What works for some doesn't for others.

I have to agree with you. You really know what you're doing. If you're going to snack (as opposed to have time to fit in meals) then healthy snacking is the way to go.

Looks like since Dawn is taking this wayyyy tooo seriously;) I may have to compete against yourself as you're going to be my nearest target weight. I hope to be back into the 11s soon and then the mid 10s where I was before getting blasé about things.

Well done on the loss:cool:

A 5lb loss is certainly a great loss this week. Now whether that was due to the Hypno or not you never will know.

Lots of people report great results with it - even when they are sure that the hypnotist didn't actually do any good.

So just stick with it chica and try to fit more meals into your hectic schedule. Hard I know - that's how I ended up where I was.
