How is everyone's week going.....?

i had a great week and managed a loss of 6.5 lb.. So now just 0.5 lb off losing 6 stone.

and I don't mean to gloat, but I can now fit into the same earrings I wore at school...lol!

hope everyone else has had a great week... Xxxxxxxx

That nearly made me spit my coffee out! Ha ha

Seriously MissMiff, your achievement is amazing so you gloat away!

I haven't had such a good week, it started on Friday evening when I had a small gathering here and a buffet. Buffets are the devils work for an HGB. Then I went out on Saturday and ended up going out for a meal in the evening. I tried to choose something smallish and I left some of it but I still felt a bit too stuffed after and I knew I'd done a bad thing. So when I went out for dinner with my parents on Sunday evening I ordered off the kids menu which is what I will be doing from now on! Even then I felt quite full after so it's definitely the way to go I think.

WI is on Friday mornings and after all of that ^^ I stayed the same this week. Would have loved another loss but at least I didn't gain anything.

Now here is a minor dilemma and I'd like to get other people's opinions on this: As I have just said about going out for dinner and ordering from the kids menu there is a flip side to this. Next Friday we are going out to dinner with the in-laws and they are total sceptics. If I told them about the HGB they would roll their eyes rather sarcastically and be less than supportive so I feel it's best not to mention it. So when we are out next week I will have to order off the main menu or they would think it's weird and I will have to order the smallest thing and probably still have to leave some. Has anyone else been in a similar situation and what did you do?

Taz, firstly, thank you for your congratulations.. Xx

Secondly, oh my goodness, what a brilliant idea regarding ordering from the children's menu, never thought of that before!

As for the sceptics, I have yet to be in the situation, but I am due to go out with the whole of hubbies family this evening, as its his 50th, and we are descending in the Indian Restaurant... I have already chosen what I will have, which is the healthiest option they serve. Perhaps you could forward plan, and chose your meal from the menu the restaurant has, lists of them now show the menus online, so this may help you not fall into the trap of over ordering.. Xx

well done on staying then same!.. Especially after buffet-gate!

good luck for this week Taz

Hi there sorry to jump in but I am interested in trying this but don't want to waste money. I have the Paul McKenna and it works sort of, I eat less defiantly but I still binge and do emotional eating is it worth going to a professional or can they not help with that? How do you pick a therapist and how much does it cost?

Hi there sorry to butt in but I am hoping you guys can help me. I did the Pmk cd a week ago and though its defiantly reduced my portion sizes I am still eating emotions with no feel of control. Is it worth seeing a hypnotist in person? I don't really have £350 to throw away if it doesn't work.

Hi Pippa..I wish I could help, but I really don't know much about emotional eating.. Have you tried the Havening DVD? I think that deals with emotions... I've never been to a hypnotist, but I know lots on here have, so hopefully they will have more insight for you... I know the accounts I've read on here regarding to actually seeing one is a lot different to Paul McKenna, as it seems to work it's way through all the different reasons for over eating, and it more personally tailored.

i hope you find a way....

Hi Pippa, I saw a hypnotherapist a couple of years ago and the CBT part of it certainly helped to break my emotional eating habits. I would recommend doing some research in your local area into a therapist that specialises in CBT and in particular for the emotional eating.

MissMiff, great idea about forward planning, I'm sure they will have an online menu. I just need to pick something that will come in a small portion. Other times I have ordered a starter as a main or a couple of side dishes but I know they will look at me like I'm from another planet if I do that!

I have just listened to the CD again as it's been 3 weeks and as I didn't lose anything this week it seemed a good time to do it!

Have you looked at Dr Becks Diet Solution? It's a book or workbook that's CBT based. I know some people on here have had fab results from it and it's a LOT cheaper than a therapist.

I had my first about 2 years ago through a therapist and I lost a stone but couldn't get back to her for top ups as she was too far away. I've just done the PM one 3 weeks ago and I've lost 6lb so far. I know that doesn't sound a lot, But to put it in perspective I am recovering from knee surgery and walk with a crutch so I'm not as active as I should be. And I have a slightly underactive thyroid so the weight loss stakes are stacked against me a little! And on the plus side, I eat what I want and don't have to count anything. It's not dieting, it's being realistic and just listening to your body :D

Is that a condition that will improve or can it be treated?

It's treatable like hypothyroidism but goes away after a year or so. I have had it after all my pregnancies. I start off on a huge dose of thyroxine but slowly my body takes over again

Hi all, well last night I listened to the pre op track. (I've copied them to my phone so I can listen in bed) however I fell asleep so I wasn't sure that I'd actually listened to the op track, even tho when i checked my phone it looked as if i had.
I woke up at 4am and had a drink of water, i noticed my right side was sore (around where my gallbladder would be - i had it removed a few years ago) and i think i must have listened to it as its been so easy to eat only when im hungry.
Did anyone else have this sore feeling ? Even tho i didn't expect to notice anything, i actually feel different. This feels so weird, i can't quite get my head around it :D

I didn't get pain tbh and I fell asleep during the op but it defiantly worked as only managed three bites of toast the following morning. But I did feel different, calmer more in control happier but my body feels different too. I wore cut off trousers in public for the first time in 7 years yesterday because I truly didn't care what other people thought, so liberating

Just what Pippa said really! I usually start off hearing everything then my vision blurs slightly then I go out completely. Afterwards it's like I've woken up on a different planet and everything is strange. Last time I tried to eat something small straight after and I felt a bit sick. I definitely feel a lot more positive and happier after.

As for the pain, I'm assuming it was removed following previous problems? It's possible that the suggestion of surgery in a similar area had made your body remember the pain the gall bladder was causing you

Ooooo possibly, maybe that it is it, I do actually feel physically as if I've had an operation, which I'm finding quite strange but day 2 is here and I feel fine :D
