Glasses or contacts?

How do you get yours in?

Only day 2 and I'm already doing it different to how they showed me.

Use middle finger to put it in, then ring finger and index finger of same hand to open the lids.

I need one of those eye opener things the laser guys use to keep the lid open. ;)
I keep blinking.

Not sure I'll take to them.
Seem ok for up close but distance is a little blurry.
Also the left toric one keeps going blurry until I squeeze my eye shut hard or rub my eye.
Think the angle is wrong.
I was halfway between steps apparently so he picked one. Should have gone the other way.

Eyes feel cold too. Said it was normal. 8D

It iss hard to get used to them at first but I could not be without mine now even though after 6 or 7 years there are still odd days (rare) when the lens just does not want to sit right on my eye and it bugs me all day! I put mine in holding the eye open with my thumb and index finger and using a finger of the other hand to put it on the eye.

I use my right hand, I pull my lower lid down with my middle finger & put the contact in with my index finger :) I can remember it took me a few weeks to find a comfortable way for me as not everyone is the same. It takes me like 1 second now.x

Use fingers of left hand to open lids. On right eye using right hand contact on middle finger, stabilise by using ring finger on cheekbone. Look up and left, place contact on eye don't remove finger, move eye back to centre, remove finger , if not comfortable using ring finger gently pull contact off centre. Buy some comfort drops they will help.

In left eye the same technique only the ring finger will stabilise more on the sinus area under the eye!

My problem is getting them out!

I find that the easiest.
I slide the lens down and then pinch it off the White part, I don't seem to blink as much that way. Must be something about touching the lens of my eye that makes me blink.
I might try that in reverse next time I wear them.
Actually, that sounds like the way you just described you do it.

I've also noted that my eyes seem to be a little stingy after wearing them but not while they are in.
Strange.

Pop some comfort drops in after wearing and keep your eyes closed for a minute that should help on the stinging

I'm so lazy with my contacts now. I used to always look in the mirror for it and I don't bother now. Something I've found that eases the pain you sometimes get - to actually fill the lens with the saline solution before you put it in.

Does anyone buy contacts online? My husbands are so expensive from boots or specsavers, any recommendations gratefully received!

I switch hands to put them in! Easiest way for me. So for the left eye- i use my ring folder on the left hand to lift the lid up..the ring finger on my right hand to pull down..and use the index finger on my right hand to put it in while looking straight at a mirror.

Switch hands for opposite eye.

Lol, sounds like a military operation!

A little tip what i do, dont know about anyone else- put a drop of solution directly onto your eyes before you put the contacts in..soo much easier.

I've worn lenses a year and a half now- i gave up trying the way you're meant to get them out! i pull together my index and ring fingers and gently nip it out..think like a pair of scissors!

That's the way I was told to do it.

I get mine from specksavers £9.95 per month and you get your lenses solution a new pit delivered to your house yearly contact check yearly eye test £80 off any frames you buy ( as long as they are over £80 mine where £81.50 so I paid £1.50 +lenses so about £60 I have the normal plastic lenses) but if you wanted to buy 10 pairs of glasses then you get £80 of each time there no limit on how many times you can use it, free replacements if you lose or damage any I went on holidayblast year and just went in to the sore and said I wanted extra and they gave me 3 pairs for free!, plus say if you went away in England you can go in any store and they will give you some ! I can't think of much more not bad for £9.95 i think the package was called contact 7 x

Forgot to add that you can get lenses cheap online but solution is really expensive so just be weary!

Totally peed off, I do NOT recommend Boots opticians!
They can't get my prescription right and eventually she tried one distance and one near sight lens! I feel sick wearing them . She told me that I was expecting too much and my sight would always be better with glasses.... Hmmm I wore them five years ago no problem, however I can now see every leaf on every tree metres away but can't read close up!!!
Bloody useless!

Sorted out my problem with the blurry left one.
It's a toric so needs to "settle" the right way up apparently.
It would take up to half an hour the first few times until Saturday when I said to the optician "they ought to put a line on so you know which way to put them in"

He told me that they ARE marked with etched lines at 3,6 and 9 o'clock but they are hard to see and only really for the optician to check them with the microscope in your eye.
I can now find these marks and put it in the right way up to start with.
Very handy.

I wear contact, I use to have the ones they say you can sleep in, as long as you do take them out and give your eyes a rest.
But I caught an eye infection last August, ended up in the hospital, who advised me that although the "eye companies" like to sell them, that you can sleep in them - it is best not to!
I always use to put the contact in the left eye and then the right eye. The left eye being the weaker strength, then one day I put in the right eye first, and instantly realised that I could see perfectly well, and so didn't end up putting in the left eye.
I have since had a check with the Eye Specialist, and they are pleased with my eyes, plus a bonus I now only pay for 1 contact lens, approx. £7.00 per month.

I do however take it out every night, and put it in every morning, I find I just pinch it out. To put it in I put on my 1st finger, and whilst holding top lid with my right hand and bottom lid with my left hand ring finger; I then pop it in off my first finger, I then check some small print and off I go for the day.

Good luck

I'm getting the hang of these now.
One question, how long can I use the same pair for?
I know it says monthly disposable but if I only wear them 2-3 times a week rather than 7 days, can I stretch that to a month and a half or even two?

I was told by the optician to change the solution every 3 days if I'm not using them to keep it sterile.

Stick to the month, doesnt matter how often u wear them its the fact they have been unsealed already. Start to gather bacteria etc even tho you use the solution etc. Risk of eye infections increase.
