I got our tax bill.... Most unexpected we were led to believe my husband wouldn't have to pay much tax due to him working abroad and paying tax abroad, but the reality has turned out to be different. I am shocked!

My husband is away, so I am single working Mummy at the moment, dealing with it on my own, and Hannah (my 2 year old) is ill and I don't even know if I will be in to work tomorrow.

I always find it hard when he isn't here, but this has tipped me over, and I've eaten a fair bit of nonsense. Not a whole lot but a few mouthfulls of almost everything around.....

At the end of the day I know its not the end of the world, we have to pay it of course, and we (just about) can, but all the plans we had this year will pretty much be out the window.

My hubby has been promised a big pay increase in Feb, which will help a little, but in addition to paying this bill, we will now need to save in anticipation of the next one...

Feeling rubbish and angry and not sure who I'm thinking is to blame. The person who misled us at the start I suppose...

Ah Mags it is so hard when you have to deal with things like this by yourself, I hope you can get it sorted.
Dont worry about what you have eaten, put it behind you and start afresh.....you can do it and we are all here for you.x

Hi mags,
Sorry to hear that. Not easy. Sounds like you have jumped back into an old pattern of pushing the angry, stressed feelings back down with food. Quiet understandable and I know that one so well :(

If it was paid for professional advice that you had then there may be recompense ? You will get through this though, and you will get back on the diet. You are a strong woman and have no doubt coped with similar in the past.

Beat up a cushion, go to the top of a hill and scream but don't take it out on yourself. You are worth more than that !
Hugs

Sigh, I'm not sure who told my husband about the tax, but I think it was at his interview when he joined the company. There is a 'get out clause' for UK tax if you stay away from the country for 9 months of the year, but he is roughly half the year away, so is fully liable.

The thing was at the time, He had been made redundant 6 months before, so was really pleased to be offered a job back in the industry he knows, I was 8 months pregnant and probably he just didn't take all the information in properly.

It was all a bit overwhelming at the time, we thought we were going to have to sell our house and everything....what with munchkin on the way and everything. Thankfully it didn't come to that.

The tax bill won't cripple us endlessly, but will pretty much be knackered for the next 6-12 momths.

So much for my big shopping trip when I get to target! may have to ebay it!

Well thanks Sonkie and Melissa you are right, I am worth more than this and shouldn't allow this to damage my health by eating.

My plan for tomorrow is to revert to the early days, have nothing but soups/shakes and water to make sure I go back into ketosis as quickly as possible (assuming I am out of ketosis....) I will be weighed on Thursday so hopefully it will still show a loss by then, after that I will go back to having bars/water flavours/ savoury drinks.

I will weigh myself too and if I have lost weight early in the week I will reinstate the bars etc earlier.

I need to get this done, ever since my 100 days were up I have felt like I have been on this long enough already!! I only have a stone and a half left, I CAN DO IT by easter at the latest surely?

Hi Mags,

That was a bit of a shock to say the least and especially when you had made plans for the year ahead and your disappointment is understandable.

It is so easy to fall back on old ways of thinking and seeking comfort in food and the thing is I can see from your post you have made a quick and good recovery and that is called progress.

Remember you are doing this weight loss journey for yourself and you will be so happy with yourself come Easter when your at goal.

you're right mini, previously I would have fallen off the wagon big time, and would have said there was no point continuing because I had failed, whereas now I only allowed it for a couple of days.

It really is progress!

thanks for making me see it!

Hi Mags,
Hope you are doing ok today. I know it must be a dissapointment not being able to have your shopping trip. We deserve lots of new clothes after all our efforts. One thing that I am finding though is that smaller sizes are so much blooming cheaper then the dreaded Evans.

You will lose that last stone and a half by Easter....but a lot sooner I bet ! I know what you mean about the 100 days being out of the way and wanting an end to it all. I feel like that but have another 3 stone minimum to go......but hope by Easter I might be finished so I am sure you will !
Hugs

Yay Melissa, maybe we can celebrate come easter by having the smallest chocolate egg we can find in the shops.... new habits to be made and all that!

Need to start leaving the big ones for the kids lol.

As far as the tax goes, it is dealt with now as much as it can be with a plan in place for the rest. We will have to tighten our belts considerably but its not the end of the world. One compromise I am not willing to take though is jumping off this train. It did occur to me, with £66 (or more) per week at the moment but its only a couple of months, and I'd spend the savings on food anyway! My health is worth it and we can just about manage it.

When I get to target, I am going to have my hair cut and coloured, buy a few essentials, pair of jeans and a few tops and some underwear and then I'll maybe just have to buy one thing per month or something and build my new wardrobe gradually.

You know when I look at it I'm very lucky really, we're just having to adjust things and its only for a short while really!

Yes I'm feeling much sunnier now!

Thanks everyone for your support.

Hi Mags,

Delighted your feeling on top again and I think your right to stick with the plan as you will spend that money on food.

I think when Easter comes and you look back and see how well you have done you will be so proud of yourself for as they say nothing feels or tastes as good as slim.

Your whole attitude is going to see you win the day.

You sound so much more positive about it Mags and I am glad that LL is still on for you. Good decision to put you first ! It sounds as if you feel that it is all manageable now.

The new hair do is a great idea. I have just done similar, too long to wait for another 3 stone ! I am now straight haired and sultry instead of curly and bubbly. Getting nice comments about it.

Yes lets look forward to that mini egg. It will be all we need coz our stomachs will have shrunk so much, yippee !
