Is it OK to do this?

For the last few weeks I've been on about 1300-1500 calories a day in addition to exercise. Anyway, I did reach a plateau a few weeks back which was highly irritating to say the least. What I do whenever I reach one of these is reduce my calorie intake to about 700-800, but only for a week. I then tend to be able to lose about 4lb-5lb and then the weight loss resumes as normal when I go back to my standard calorie intake.

I was wondering whether or not it is healthy to reduce my calories so vastly. I know it's not healthy if it's long-term, but I only do it perhaps once every eight weeks for one week.

Is this ok? Replies appreciated.

Hi wasted

Have no professional knowledge of this, but I would have thought that for a short term kick start it should not cause you any trouble. I would add a good multi vitamin and mineral tablet though, as there is no way you would get all the nutrients in a small amount of cals.

Have you looked at the judd thread? it may be helpful to you.

Best of luck

Vanda

I completely second the ^ above post, but I do not have any medical knowledge so this is only my opinion.
