It's now or never

Yep - I failed miserably this week, so how about 2 pounds off this week by Friday

Well - OH and I have been discussing the wedding, and I told him we are aiming at April 2012 - which gives him 7 months to lose weight with me. So we decided this weekend is our last weekend out for his birthday, until xmas (well, thats the aim :) ) and then we are on this diet together. I will not hold my breath to see if he actually joins me, but I am hopeful. He is encouraged by the speed I lost the first 19 pounds and how many people have commented, so hopefully he will join me.

I am just looking forward to next week, when there are no more parties planned and I can concentrate fully on losing weight - I just feel like every time I get started something has come up. I really want another stone off by xmas at least, so roll on next Monday!

Ooooh I hope he joins you on your diet!! My OH is super-skinny and has actually lost weight because of his poor health... I am trying to fatten him back up!!! ;)

I'll bet you can get a stone off by Christmas. Especially if you keep up this exercise. :D

I also know just what you mean about stuff coming up and making it hard to focus on your diet. This happens when OH brings home pizza  but since he now can no longer have wheat this may change... until he realizes that Happy Joe's Pizzaria makes gluten free pizza! :p

Tch - well we have another night out due this saturday for OHs birthday. So, I have decided not to worry about following the diet until Monday, when I will get back on it full force. And no more nights out! Actually feeling a bit of relief that I have a plan, and that I am not feeling frustrated and like I am failing because every time I try to start something comes up to stop me following the plan properly.

Ok Egbert! Monday is a new start and we have no more excuses after that! We need to have a good run now and get ourselves motivated again!!
WE CAN DO THIS!!!! x

Well - Monday evening and I have been very good all day, except for not drinking any water! In fact all I have drunk all day is coffee, so off to get a pint of water in me now!

And feeling happy and confident I can stick to it - Game ON! :)

Day 2 - so far so good. A little hungry perhaps but nothing we can't cope with. Time for a coffee!

Anyway, I haven't really written anything much for a while, so where to start . . . gearing up for my redundancy in 7 weeks and trying to find out what I actually want t do with my life. I haven't been out for work since I left uni - 13 years with one company and now I want a complete change of direction I think - I just dont know what I want to do.

OH and I have discussed what we want from our wedding so i have some idea of how to get started in looking for venues. What do you think of themed weddings - I have never considered it before (well never considered being married before) and now I am looking at all sorts of ideas. Basically OH and I are not that keen on dancing so want to avoid the '1st dance' and most of our family are not the disco type. So thinking of alternatives, like a casino, or . . . I dont know. If we married in a castle, we could have a medieval theme. What do you think? Fun or weird?

i think whether you theme your wedding or not the key thing is that the day feels like the two of you. other than the legalities, nothing is compulsory about a wedding - so have the party the two of you would like best... and if you have a theatrical heart, that might mean a medieval theme, or a casino or whatever. My mates, who are actors, had a 1930s village fete theme, and everyone was given an envelope with thrupenny bits to spend at the coconut shy etc. They had sack races and got a local fish and chip place to come in and do the catering. I think that theme started from the bride finding a gorgeous peach silk vintage 30s dress.

my eldest sister had her wedding at a hotel and then we all got bussed off to warwick castle for a medieval type dinner and a ceilidh, and then back to the hotel for a casino, funnily enough. but that costs scads i think, and there's no real need to blow the price of a largish new car on your wedding unless you really want to.

for us, we started from the party and planned backwards. My husband and i are both quite big on drinking and clubbing etc, so we focused on inviting loads of people and we had it somewhere that our DJ mates could keep playing til it was light and no one would care. But - we had a barbecue and not a sit-down three course meal, and we didn't succumb to chair covers or favours or seating plans or hired suits or any of the other things that other people might find make their day really special. we didn't have a first dance either, because my husband would have felt really awkward, so instead we made everyone come up and dance with us to 'Baby I love You' by The Ramones.

and that was us, and everyone said the day was laid back and huge fun and just fitted our personalities. We went to eight weddings that year and every one was wildly different but right for the couple.

It's up to you what you do on your wedding day, you don't have to do anything "traditional" how about a hog roast garden party?

Ooh Spangles. What did your sister think of Warwick castle, was she pleased with the medieval type dinner and the room it was held in - I did look at that but the pictures made it look like it was quite a dark cafe type room.

We have thought of a hog roast garden party, but we have a lot of BBQs at our house so we really wanted something a bit different. We love the idea of marrying in a castle, so it was really carrying the theme on a bit more. I was a little surprised when OH looked quite keen on it too, as its normally me who likes medieval.

What other types/themed of wedding have you been to - what did you like, whats a big no no. Any thoughts welcome!

One of my friends had a garden party with afternoon tea, it was lovely as it was so relaxed & not the standard BBQ that would have gone on otherwise, they hired a marquee and put up bunting etc...

tbh - i agree with you, it wasn't very glamorous or romantic - it was trestle tables in a cellar. and dark - but it was around 8pm, more of an evening thing - so that didn't matter. It didn't feel awfully weddingy.

the other weddings that year:
one couple got married up a mountain in snowboarding gear and hired a s****y bar for the evening when they got back to london
one couple went to gretna green and got married on their own.
one couple had a very elegant wedding on an exclusive island in the thames. the bride wore a full-skirted old gold coloured coat dress. not many guests.
one couple had a very city wedding - shortish fifties frock, groom wore a teddy boy's drape jacket, wedding at the gorgeous marlybone register office, then the guests were transported by an old routemaster london bus to a reception in a function room
one couple had a small ceremony and then took all the guests for dinner in a restaurant...

nothing really came close to the themed things you fancy - I think if you love the medieval idea, then go with that. you will love your day, because you'll have chosen all the important bits.

Mine wasn't necessarily themed, I guess if it were to have had a theme it would have been "1940's/elegant." We used peacock feathers and white cala lilies.

We did the first dance thing but it was really low-key; the music started and we met on the floor, but then within seconds others were dancing too. The whole reception was pretty low-key and inexpensive really... :D Happy planning!

I have looked at Gretna Green as a possibility to having loads of guests.

I guess I just want to avoid the 'disco' thing - its not my type of fun at all. I did suggest to OH we went for cocktails and casino - he said, but we don't gamble. LOL I answered that we did like cocktails though, and we can't just expect all the guests to sit and watch us drink them!

Anyway - I had my weigh in today and since I have not been sticking to my diet for weeks now, I was not surprised not to have lost anything much. But - I was very surprised that I have lost in inches - off my waist, hips and upper arm - which I thought was never going to change. So very happy with myself today and now I am on SS for the forseeable future. I am aiming now for the next stone off. I want to see that 10!
