Hi Jane, welcome and good luck on your journey. Why not write down why you want to lose your weight, it will really help you to keep going if you have a bad day. I also have my measurements for the past 5 years(that is sooo sad!) which have been a motivator and now, a maintenance helper. Measure your bust, waist, hips, thighs and knees, you will be amazed where the inches/cm's go from but makes the effort, worth while.
