LJ's Journey

Sooooo... Here is my attempt to keep myself on track.

I was an overweight child. By the time I was 9 I was at a dietician. By 16 I had tried a range of slimming pills, slimming clubs, every concocted potion/quick fix imaginable! Then when I was 18 my mother offered to pay for me to have a gastric band. I managed to get down to 10st10lbs from 19st10lbs.

Then in 2010 things started going weird, and I ended up having to have my gastric band removed. My weight shot up at a terrifying rate, I clearly didn't learn anything from having a gastric band. It just felt great to be able to eat without feeling sick, I went totally overboard and gained a lot of weight, back up to over 18st! :sigh:

I started SW in January, and I am slowly changing my ways. I haven't had the speedy successes that lots of people in my group and this forum have had, but I'm proud to be losing at last, with no tricks or quick fixes. Just slow, enjoyable lifestyle changes.

I look forward to hearing everyone's stories, and sharing this experience with you all. However much we have to lose, we are all in the same boat, and we can all achieve our goals :) Can you tell I'm in a positive mood tonight?

I weigh in every thursday night at my local group, hoping for my 1 stone award this week (fingers crossed)! I am currently only exercising once a week actively. By actively, I mean high intensity to the extent where I ache for 2 days :) I don't drive, so I do a fair bit of walking too. I am hoping to keep building my activity up, as up to a few weeks ago I did no exercise at all. I hope to start exercising twice a week from this week :character00115:

Good luck to you all on your journeys. Smooth sailing everyone!

Hi there! Sounds like you're in a great place (mind-wise) and I think that's definitely the only thing that works. If you're not in the right mind-set no plan, however brilliant, is going to help you. SW is excellent though of course, and I hope it brings you everything you're hoping for. Looking forward to keeping up with your journey! :)

I am feeling stressed today :( I have managed to stay on plan though, 4 syns for the day!

WI is tomorrow night, I am going for a barium X-ray just before I weigh, and I am worried I will weigh more, as it's quite heavy. I just need 0.5 to get my 1 stone award, I was hoping this would be the week, but I'll have to wait and see I guess!

I think I may need a cheeky takeaway once I lose a stone to treat myself. Not my old-style order though, of course :)

Extra Easy

Chicken Tikka Salad - 5 syns
Leftover curry - 2 syns
Yoghurt, cereal (HEB)
milk (HEA)

Total 7 syns

Maintained this week, not surprised really. I was at the hospital glugging down barium just before WI, so I will see the loss next week if I stay on plan.

It still feels frustrating in all honesty, that half pound to get my stone award would have been great!

I really feel like I'm losing the plot... I thought I was in the zone and it's starting to fade already! I hoped it would last forever. Tucked into the mikado tonight, I'm annoyed at myself and feeling rubbish. My head is trying to mess this up, and I thought I would know how to stop it and I don't... I still have so much to learn.

WENT OFF PLAN :(

Oven chips 10
Wholemeal roll HEB
Mikado - too many!!!!!

Well, so far so good today. I went out for lunch with work today. I made a point of specifically requesting no cheese, no oil etc, I ended up having a chicken breast in a tomato sauce with roasted veg and a salad. It was quite nice, but I was jealous of everyone else's cheese loaded feasts! To resolve the cravings it induced, we had a quick dinner of pasta with chilli philadelphia light. I have really neglected to eat fruit or drink enough today, but syns wise, I'm doing dandy! I think I aam going to count some olive oil in case the chef decided to add some despite my request. It didn't seem like it, but who can tell. Here's hoping for 100% tomorrow.

I definitely feel a bit better, and less like i'm drifting into the wilderness ;)

Extra Easy

Chicken in tomato sauce with salad and grilled vegetables (2 syns olive oil)
Pasta with Philadelphia light (HexA and 2 syns)
Yoghurt
Weetabix Oaty bar (HexB)

Total Syns = 4

Thinking about Exercise:

I must confess my exercise regime has started to slip a little bit. I have been feeling achey the past few days, but I actually believe some exercise would help! Its just the last thing I feel like doing! Anyway, to cut a long story short, I am starting (ahem re-starting) my 30 day shred challenge on Tuesday with some others on this forum. I'm determined to get past day 1 this time

I really had a long lie-in today! Missed breakfast as I have done for some time now. I did notice some decent losses when I was having breakfast at least most of the week. Still, planning on another 100% day today :) That will make 3 in a row, which is ace! I am feeling like I'm getting my mojo back, I think I just got a bit knocked by my maintain this week. I need to find a new way of coping that doesn't involve going off plan for a night!

Right, here is the plan for today...

Green Day

Late Breakfast: Muller light with 30g Fruit n Fibre (HexB)
Late Lunch: Jacket with beans and a salad (lettuce, peppers, onions, tomatoes)
Late Tea: Pasta with philly (HexA) and peppers, onions, mushrooms

Hey,
Just came on here to have a quick look - u are doing well these last few days, if i were to suggest anything it would be to eat more!! Well more fruit and veg or similar! I am always snacking (especially when at work) and the more I eat (fruit) the more I loose, hence why I am looking forward to going back to work tomorrow! LOL.
Will b poppin in all the time now! xx

Thanks Cai, thats good advice! I am feeling kinda peckish now so gonna bring through some nice cold grapes from the fridge :D I think I am over-compensating because I was really disappointed to maintain this week, and I really want to start speeding up my weightloss. It feels weird trying to eat more!

I have eaten today:

Late Breakfast: Muller light with 30g Fruit n Fibre (HexB)
Late Lunch: Jacket with beans and a salad (lettuce, peppers, onions, tomatoes) and free cottage cheese
Late Tea: Pasta with philly (HexA) and peppers, onions, mushrooms
Snacks: Weetabix bar (HexB), Grapes, milk allowance (HexA), 25g Fruit and fibre (4.5 syns), muller light, another weetabix bar (4 syns)

I have been so busy today, and have a busy few weeks ahead of me. I have only eaten 30g fruit and fibre and a yoghurt today! Thats so rubbish. I'm having a bacon, mushroom and onion omlette and a salad for tea, meant to be having a red day. Had planned a hearty chicken salad for lunch, but I just couldn't be bothered. I'm feeling kinda low today, not about the diet or my weightloss... Hopefully its just a monday thing.

Well tonight I have been thinking alot about goals and what I want to achieve. I am starting to wonder if I could ever achieve a healthy BMI and stay there... I achieved it when I had my gastric band, but to get to a healthy weight of my own steam seems like one hell of a challenge. I keep trying to focus on mini-goals (e.g. getting my club 10 award). I have a long road ahead of me, no point in focussing on the endgame right now. I have a clean 5 stone to lose before I even need to start wondering what my final goal will be.

Sometimes I just feel so sick of this, my weightloss has been really slow.. I know I would be gaining every week if I wasn't on plan, and to lose almost a stone is an achievement, however long it takes. I just feel like its going to take forever!

Food Intake for today - RED

Lunch: Yoghurt and 30g Fruit and Fibre (5 syns)
Dinner: 4 small warburtons (HEB x2), bertolli light (2 syns), eggs, bacon, mushroom, lettuce, tomato and free cottage cheese

Don't be down/hard on yrself!! Yr doing amazingly! Yt loosing weight, you, not a band restricting what you eat, but you are doing it! So it is taking a bit longer than u wanted? It's still coming off and people say the longer it takes to come off, the longer it stays off! :) this is all about YOU making life long changes to help YOU :) for once in our lives it has to be all 'me me me' hehe.

Don't forget we're all here for u and we're all in the same boat! There is no doubt that someone on here will have felt the same as u at any one time of your journey!

Chin up, you're doing well and don't u forget it xx

Thanks Cai! You're so right, I have NEVER stuck to a diet for this long. 100% off my own back, 100% for myself. I am so truly committed, I am sticking with this no matter what. Just have a bad case of the mondays I think! I'm gonna find myself a treat for the rest of my syns I think and watch a good film :) Hope you're having a good day!
